Goes to show how wank non-league is when Sean Newton is considered a good signing. What a massive fucking camel. Slow, soft, couldn't do any aspect of defending competently and even his world-class crossing ability was just...meh.

Thank fuck we never agreed anything more permanently.

I'd imagine he was gash at L1 level, but frankly I feel a little robbed that he's gone to a team at an incredibly similar level to us after all this FL ambition crap.

Never mind.

Happy with the newton signing, shame that Ashton has gone but was one of the more senior players who essentially forced wilkin out, even telling him to fuck off during one match

Seen by many as a bad egg towards the end, but has given us the best years of his career. Will be signing for a local team no doubt

He also tried to get him for York.

Imps fans will like Matt Rhead if they play to his strengths. Okay, he doesn't score regular goals and looks cumbersome, but he has the heart of a lion, is as strong as an ox and absolutely wins everything in the air. Alongside the right forward he'll create chances with just his threatening physical presence.
He'll do the business back in the Conference.

Many Stags fans are sad see him leave, as he became something of a cult figure.

Bit of a kick in the nads by Newton, there. He was adamant that it'd be FL over location and he's done the opposite judging by what he's said on the Wrexham OS.

Thinking about it, I'm not sure you'll see the best of Newton because Mills sides don't cross the ball.

He's made himself out to be a bit of a tit there, especially the comment about us, which is a lie anyway as he never played or featured at Wrexham for us, foolish.

I'm a bit gutted Rhead has left, but I suppose it was the right time to go. He's been a good player for us, he wins 90% of headers and he's got a good footballing brain too. No pace whatsoever.

Matt Green said this about him 'when defenders saw him coming on as a sub they would say to me 'who is that fat twat?' With which I'd reply 'your worst nightmare!'

Sums him up, a real handful!

He also has a goalie in mind and by the sounds of him would want to convince John Oster to come to us, but I don't think it'll happen. Mills says he's one of the fittest players he's ever known but wasn't he injured for the second half of the season? Bishop will also be released listening to Mills tonight.

He's been rumoured but no I don't think so, he is settled in York as far as I know even if he doesn't play. I would prefer Sam Russell but I guess Adam Bartlett is a possibility.

Is it safe to call Newton some sort of a Non League Kolarov then?

Basically, yeah.

His attacking 'pros' outweigh his defensive 'cons' at this level but obviously not so much in the league as he found out at Notts.

Childish, maybe, maybe not....players will say whatever to get the fans onside, and he's done that pretty well. The more intelligent ones will see through it.

Do you play them at the Racecourse or Colliers Park?

Regardless, they really are pretty childish comments.

Both.

I'm sure if a player signed for you and said similar you'd lap it up.

A bit like Linwood's comments last season.

So long as Mills brings in players who are proven at this level, I will be happy. And Newton is one of them, he's done well for a number of sides down here. I don't give a shit if he can't cope in L1 or L2.

If anyone watched him for us, I doubt he even had that choice.

Signing Norwood could be a real coup for Tranmere. On his day he's unstoppable at this level, just needs to be managed well.
Most good players 'on their day' are unstoppable, but if that day is only 1 in 7/8 games, it means jack shit!

Wasn't it last pre season where some Wrexham fans were wanking themselves off on here over how good their signings were, and look how that season turned out............. :ffs:

The signings we made looked pretty good in fairness - Moult, Jennings, Manny Smith etc. For whatever reason it just didn't work under Wilkin. Hopefully Mills can actually get the best out of them this season!

Moult for me is different class. We've done well to hold on to him. Newton looks a good signing. I feel confident that we will challenge next season but who knows.

Another 'hard working' target man for us then who can't score goals then.
We've plenty of those lately, one especially Drewe Broughton is major we are down here.
He has a clean slate but as our manager has let 40+ goals go out the team Rhead is going to have to step up his goal to games ratio.
Anyone know anything about this other player we've signed Tempest?

Forest Green have just confirmed the signings of Darren Jones, a former player, and Delano Sam-Yorke. Both have signed one year deals.

Surprised, but very pleased to see Jonah return. Not sure what that means for our current centre back pairing, but I'd expect him to be first choice.

Sam-Yorke I've heard of, but don't remember clearly what he's like. Doesn't have the most prolific scoring record I've ever seen if he is actually a striker, but hopefully that will change.
