Jake Cassidy joins Stevenage from Maidenhead for a five figure fee! :pmsl:

Incredible bit of business by us. Westley is crazy.

Wow, fair play Maidenhead for managing to get money for Cassidy.

Stevenage are fucked :fl::fl::fl:

Signings like that are proof positive that some poor managers in the lower leagues just make signings based off agent recommendations rather than doing any scouting whatsoever.

Joe Quigley joining Daggers on a two year deal being another example.

His agent could sell snow to an Eskimo, I can't believe it really.

The ambiguity of that quote! He might be the only one of his type in our league.

This! I don't think there are many others who play the entire game with their back to goal and hardly ever enter the opposition penalty box except for set pieces.

A confirmed retirement is Manny Smith from us.

Great centre back at this level and was actually superfit, think he played every minute and about 60 games for us in 2014-15. That knee injury at start of last season has killed him (not literally).

Massive shame. Fantastic player at this level. I'll never forgive Gary Mills for letting him go in the first place.

We've just signed Liam McAlinden
https://www.stockportcounty.com/striker-mcalinden-joins-hatters/

Seems he'd prefer to join a big club instead

Without wanting to sound bitter. None of us can get our heads around it. Pete Wild said he wanted to leave due to football league interest which would be fair enough. But this is effectively a sideways move. You must be paying him a fair whack.

Very one-footed but a decent player. Scored some nice goals at the start of the season but seemed to lose interest when scouts came along.

We've got imminent investment/a takeover happening this week so presumably there's a bit of money coming in. Hopefully we're not going round throwing stupid money though. There'll also be a bit of wage freed up by the loanees leaving. Plus, in all fairness, if you know your deal is up soon then looking at County's and Halifax's recent fortunes then maybe he'll think he's got a better chance of a good move this summer with us. Just because League clubs were looking at him doesn't mean there were offers on the table

It's not hard to understand. There was interest from the Football League and he was clear he wanted to go there. Once Rodney was brought in, McAllinden's offer was taken off the table, as we couldn't afford them both.
I presume the interest from the Football League didn't harden into an offer and he was left high and dry. Stockport came in and saved his face.

So our budget has been managed that badly that we have lost one of our top scorers (Matt McClure) to Gloucester City. According to John Still we just couldn't match the money they were offering.

Sounds bizarre considering I thought Gloucester were skint?? That's four players now who have left in a short space of time, yet somehow we are still over budget....what a shambles.

We've signed Alex Wall at last. A player who has bullied us every time we've come up against him. Will give us some much needed presence up front, not to mention sharp elbows to combat this leagues giant defences

He once came up to our place with Dartford and got them a point completely on his own. As you say, a complete bully but effective.

It doesn't matter how big your budget is. Still will find a way to max it all out on average players shortly after joining.
