Stockport the first club confirmed as Going For It™ in 20/21 then.

Excellent signings, both are ultimate professionals and great in the dressing room. We would have offered James to stay with us but sounds like he wants a fresh start at a team who will be going for the title. Incredibly he has never played for Stockport previously, which blows my mind.

Two very good signings for Stockport. Suspect they’ll be fighting for the title next season

How long has Connor signed up for? He struggled at L1 level, but could have done a job for us again in L2. Don’t know if our unwillingness to talk new deals at this stage was a factor. A very good signing for Stockport, sorry to see him go and hope it goes well for CJ
For some reason we haven’t said in our press release for either of them - which is not like us.

I should imagine it will be a 2 year but wouldn’t be surprised if it was a 3 year deal.

There was talk of us paying a small fee and you letting him go before lockdown so think this had been on the cards for a while.

Hope so, it'll be nice to have a proper rival back in the league - especially if Halifax can win the playoffs this year.

Bury are, sadly, gone; Oldham are struggling under the weight of the previous owners tenure; Notlob are so far up themselves they refuse to notice us; Wigan are pie eating non-entities who always beat us; Classless of 92 are a vanity project, not a proper club; Accy are like your neighbour's cat - pleasant and harmless, likes a tickle on the chin, occasionally poos in your rose bed.

Come on County (and Fax) - it's boring without you... :)

We've confirmed the double signing of Connor Jennings from Tranmere and James Jennings from Wrexham this morning.

Delighted with the signing of Connor Jennings who was ace for us on loan a few years ago and has gone on to do great things at Tranmere.

I don't know an awful lot about James Jennings though. Seems to have had a good career at this level and higher.

Connor Jennings Tranmere legend, one week he’s in a coma and the next week he comes on as a sub and sets up the winning goal which takes us back into the football league. Cracking signing, gutted he’s gone.

Weird one Kitching, we offered him terms for next season but I’d imagine the financials involved he thought he could get a better deal and more likely has, we signed him as a midfielder, played majority of his time with us at left back, he’s more of a wide man for me than a defender.

Started terribly for us last season, was much improved after Challinor took over like, decent going forward and running with the ball taking players on, but defensively very poor.

Think we might be looking at playing with wing-backs quite a lot next season so hopefully that should suit him.

Gannon's interview the other day sounded like wing backs (3-5-2/5-3-2) could be our primary formation this coming season. We've used it a fair bit these last couple of years but more as secondary to a 4-2-3-1.

I’m happy with that especially if we can get a pacy goalscorer alongside Bennett.

Is that not Connor Jennings?

I don't know much about other teams players, but I thought I saw the term pacey front man attributed to him.

He’s not posted much through the middle in recent years from what I can gather and he’s not slow but he’s not electric either.

Defo not quick quick is he. I think he can play adequately anywhere in midfield, wide or up front as his football brain is that good and he has a great workrate. I always likened him to a lower league Wayne Rooney. That is a compliment by the way.

Well I didn't see him much last season (I see more Saudi league nowadays - haway the mighty Ettifaq) but first season fucking hell, he was dross. If you play wing backs you need positional sense and unfortunately he spent most of that season in Guatemala rather than our left flank when selected.

The fact that you offered him a new contract suggests he improved.

if his positional play hasn’t/doesn’t improve quickly he won’t find himself in the side for long.

John Rooney leaves Barrow and joins Stockport County for an undisclosed fee.

Great signing if he keeps up anything like his form from this season, although it does look like a bit of an outlier in his career tbh. Stockport are looking strong for next season.

I think the move for Rooney may also have location reasons. Hopefully he'll do for us what he did for Barrow.

Barrow train in Manchester, it’s a three-year contract on the best money of his career he has come for let’s face it.
