Massive lack of ambition, though (and obviously easy to say this now) he was one player I worried about making the step up, especially without Evatt. Would have loved him to stay and see if he was capable, but the fact he's spent most of his career in non-league is probably telling.

Stockport County.
We could be easily swapping places with Barrow in a year.
It's not an easy league to get out of, I still think there will be 3 or 4 teams with bigger budgets than us. Hopefully we can challenge. I have faith in Gannon to do that.

I understand it’s going to be very difficult even with the big cash boost but we’ve just spent 75k and persuaded arguably last year’s best player in the division to give up on league football.

Name those teams who are going to have a bigger budget?

Notts County maybe but apart from that?

Quite clearly Stockport have a lot of $$$ behind them to be making these sort of signings early on. Even more so when you consider the financial instability they would’ve faced recently.

Early door favourites for the title, along with Yeovil if they keep the core of their squad and are over the financial issues to add a larger backroom staff + squad.

Loads of those shit Southern clubs like Borehamwood, Dagenham etc spend loads I heard last season. This raising of the budget is great and I can see why fans are happy, I am too but part of that is because we were just so used to picking the left overs for about 10-15 years. Other clubs have well resourced squads already in place.

Barrow weren't the biggest spenders last year but formed a great spirit and foundation to get the best out of somebody like Rooney. Under Gannon, I'm positive that we can do similar as he's achieved it more than once at County but nothing is a given.

We've signed Luke James who was at Hartlepool

I liked him but he doesn't score many or look like he will. Will always give 100%, chases and harries everything and has a bit of pace. This will be his last shot at league football. It's a pretty underwhelming signing for L2 but you never know if he's used right he could have a part to play.

saw him when we had him on loan from FGR and he got 7 in 17 in what was a very poor team - will be back up for Dior Angus i think

Solihull's budget is bigger than the GDP of China. Fylde's as well but they've outspent their way to regional football.

Haha calm down pal, you must have been even shitter to spend time so much time in conference North, yes we have backers but they only top up the budget by £250k a season, we’re hardly spending like Salford or Forest Green and you can tell that by the quality of our squad. You have to pay players in the south a lot more than northern based players. The owner said we would have a top eight budget next season which is not far off where we should be club size wise it will get you a fairly decent first eleven but the rest of the squad is always poor.

You're an identikit non league club. Look at your history, ground etc. "Shit club" was probably harsh but I think we all know what I mean.

And yeah we were even shitter to spend so long in the North. The club was absolutely fucked and in 20-30 years time it will be celebrated how the fans managed to help keep the club in business. We probably still doubled your average gate.

Agreed. He's not a league quality player.

You should make playoffs under challinor this time around. Big club, big budget and he's settled in now

I think he's walked into a shitstorm to be honest.

It was going quite well for him until Corona when our charitable owner decided to sack everyone and only furlough players. Now he's insinuating that he doesn't have any money left and wants others to give him cash but no say in the running of the club. Budget will be reduced next season but I think that's the least of our concerns. We have the base of a good team, Challinor is a decent manager and If we weren't a basket case then yes we should be looking at promotion but we are so I doubt it.

I know what you mean Stocky yes your waving your willy about and it’s embarrassing, you’re a non league club now and have been for a decade. We know this is our natural level, yours is probably mid table in league two stop acting like your Liverpool. Besides if you were such a big club you’d never have been down here in the first place, proper big clubs never get relegated down to here, the ones that do just think there big but in reality there football league bottom feeders.

Is there a 'Going for it' table?
Stockport must be top by a distance at the moment.

I apologise.

I shouldn't have said shit club.

Having very little history to talk of, having a little ground, having very few fans.

A rugged club with character is what I meant to say about Dagenham and Redbridge.

Where did he play for you guys?

Debate on our board whether he is an 8 or a 10?

Plays deep for a central midfielder, sometimes close to the back four and playing long passes - but will pop up on the edge of the area for a long range shot. Kind of a box-to-box player without being too athletic, but definitely not a number 10. Set-piece specialist, hence his goal tally.

What you on about? He was class last season and I've said as much.

Season before, however, he was anonymous for six months and I had him down as one to release...

Cheers mate that’s what I thought. Guessing if we bring in Croasdale from Fylde it will be as a squad player then.

He was best in a midfield 3 for us, with someone more defensive behind him, and more of an attacking midfielder alongside him to carry the ball forwards. Sounds like Stockport are going for 5-3-2 this year.

Yeah that’s a definite possibility. He’ll have Maynard or Keane as the defensive midfielder alongside him and then Jennings or a new number 10 ahead.
