We've signed Tahvon Campbell on loan until the end of the season? Any good?

What happened to Adam Rooney?
Remember Solihull signed him the day before last season ended but haven't heard a thing about him since

Chesterfield have signed former Lincoln and Boreham Wood keeper Grant Smith from Wealdstone
I may have got this wrong but I seem to remember when we first got relegated to non league that he was a name a lot of people spoke about as being one of the best keepers at this level?

May have been at Boreham Wood at the time? As I say could be wrong, but will provide the competition for Letheren that he needs.

Played one game for us, as Luton would not give permission for Harry Isted to play. Felt he could have done better for both goals.

He’s most famous for trying to make a big fancy TV save at Wembley in the playoff final against Tranmere...and letting it squirm in for the winner.

Smith will be a good signing at this level.

Decent shot stopper and good with the ball at his feet. Fairly quiet for a 'keeper and not one to be shouting orders at his defenders or anything but was fairly happy to come for crosses albeit not one you'd class as overly commanding.

I expected a lower L2 side to pick him up even if only as a number two.

Above is what I said two or three months ago.

We needed a keeper, we've got Coddington out long term with an injury (not played for 9 months or something), Letheren who was our number 1 who just hasn't been that good & an 18 y/o youth teamer we had to play last night in the Trophy.

Whilst i'm here...we've signed someone else from Gloucester, Gavin Gunning. Sorry Clem Fandango

Don't be sorry, he'll be on 700 a week minimum, has been poor and is permanently injured. Considering everything that is going on right now you must be mad signing players like that.

We've given him a 18 month contract which obviously given his injury record is probably ambitious.

I wish all our players were on £700 a week. We're still paying Weston £2,500

Didn't realise the length of his contract, that's insane. I was disappointed Asante went (was always going to happen). Best forward in the NLN by a mile. And Whittle is a loss, a shithouse for following Carline's antics, but is a loss. The other two, not bothered in the slightest. But in all honesty, surely you guys must be concerned at the size of your squad and the wage bill?!

..and all these signings are exactly the reason why the NL season won't be paused or voided. Too much investment already sunk by many, they'll plough on regardless.

2 more have gone out this week, with 2/3 more expected to leave now we are out of isolation. Squad size is now about 24 players (though we have about 4 out on loan and 2 in on loan so net at 22). We need those 2 or 3 off the wage bill for sure as you don't need 22/23+ players at this level.

That will be 10 out, 10 in so no concerns about the wage bill. Depending on who leaves we might even have reduced it, we have a fair number of players on £1500+ a week so signing players on £700, £1200 etc is a good thing if we get a couple more of the decent earners off the books.

The concern is the furlough rules I think, which someone on our forum thinks stated you have to have been employed before a certain date to qualify. If the season is null and void I don't know what that means for us in terms of being able to claim.

Carline has impressed btw from what I've seen, looks a solid player. Not had chance to see Whittle yet.

Another signing due this morning.

Just hope it's followed by us getting a few more off the books. If NLN is canned I imagine the 4 players we have out on loan in the league will be returned, would give us a squad size of about 28.

If the NL is canned and half the new signings don't qualify for furlough, either us or them are screwed.

Apparently another goalkeeper!?

If that’s the case, then surely that spells the end for both Coddington and Letheren given we only signed grant smith last night?

^^ Adam Przybek signs from Ipswich on loan until the end of the season to provide competition for the GK position..

In my opinion that says the following will happen:
- Grant Smith to become new #1
- Przybek to provide competition
- Letheren to be moved on
- Coddington to move out on loan till end of season whilst he builds his fitness up following huge ACL injury

I wouldn’t count Wharton who played last night (18 year old) as he’s nowhere near ready, needs more time in the youth squad

Boreham Wood signed Nathan Ashmore to play ahead of him as well.

Yes the rule regards furlough could be an issue for some, the date was October 30th. A few clubs have signed players on contract since then so will have to honour them.

Adam Przybek was with us in the past, shock. Didn't see much of him as Rowe didn't rate him, so strange signing!

That probably works out for me.

I've seen 5 names mentioned as outgoings as well (2 of which are 2 of the 3 I mentioned the other week that couldnt move due to covid/isolation). I think those 1 or 2 could be Yeovil bound, one potentially to Swindon.

They had Smith on loan last season and he was behind Ashmore.
That’s not what you wrote though is it?

You said that BW signed Ashmore to play ahead of him, but Smith didn’t arrive until 4 months after Ashmore, in which time he’d obviously become the established #1.

Plus, if Ashmore hadn’t done much wrong in his time why would the manager take him out for someone he obviously brought in on loan as cover. Seems to me like your post was a bit of a pointless dig that didn’t make much sense...

Hopefully the season isn't null and void with us having no option to Furlough these signings due to them arriving after the end of October.

Clear to me that despite the initial objective for JR being to keep us up, the Board see this season as an opportunity to go up and the first hit and are backing him accordingly. Hope it pays off.

Absolute hero.

Do think when the day comes and he's done a good job here - he'll be doing the same thing to us though!
Yes.
