We’ve signed Tom Walker on loan from Harrogate as he joins us for a third spell.

Did really well for us and Fylde in this league last season but made no impact at Harrogate or Notts County this campaign.

We mainly played 352 under Gannon but the new boss had been playing 4231 or 442 so a new wide forward was definitely needed considering Jennings and Williams have been very underwhelming this season.

Good signing.

Williams has looked turd this season and Jennings is not playing anywhere near the level I would have expected.

Was great for us in his spell last season, obviously not happened for him elsehwere. Tidy player who wants the ball to feet, was a big fan of his.

Doesn't help that they're both at their best in wide-left and we've barely played that role this season

Is Jennings best there? He’s played in so many different positions in his career and never nailed down one. He’s played as a 10, 11, 9 & 7 for this season and has been very underwhelming in all of the positions he’s played.

Reading between the lines, he wanted to leave here because he didn’t immediately walk into the team. Looked okay when he did play, but didn’t do much to suggest he should’ve been playing more.

Bit of a random one from us. We’ve just signed Chris Renshaw. A GK from Witton as our backup is injured. Pointless signing as Johnson has played every game. Could have just stuck a youth team GK on the bench

Do you have any other senior keepers? Always makes sense to have a second one around. At this level they are generally on very low pay.

Admittedly no, Johnson is our only fit one. Can’t imagine someone from Witton will be costing us too much to be fair.

Is the game looking likely to go ahead tommorow?

No reason why it shouldn’t.

Mike Fondop has signed for Burton Albion!

When EFL teams still need a striker after the January transfer window closes, they often make very, very desperate signings from the free agent market. When we were in L2 we failed to bring one in on deadline day so went and signed Sam Akinde, who relies entirely on his brother's name.

To be honest I was told that a player we (Alfreton) signed from Burton was on higher wages at us than he would have been on than had he stayed at Burton

Great news for us with Glendon and Weeks resigning for next season felt sure we would lose both of them to National league or above.

How do you know if you can afford them?
Had a positive finance update last week, we're in a very healthy state, best we've been in since we reformed despite Covid and the grant fiasco. But, given our model, that would have changed quickly without support if the season had played out.

Every player in our squad accepted a vastly reduced contract in the current season and as reported about five are playing for free this has enabled us to build up our cash reserve which is our emergency fund, we got in terrible trouble a few years back when the then board let the Manager spend most of this money in a bid to get promotion. It ended badly the players he spent big money on let us down and we ended up getting relegated at the end of that season, it took a lot of hard work from everyone at the club and fellow football fans to save us and get us in the position we are in now, so it would have been a ridiculous gamble to spend all that money again on the lottery that is getting out of this dam league. People are not going to keep bailing us out every few years we so we have to look after ourselves as we don’t have a back up of someone to put his hands in his pockets and give us some cash when we need it.

The other reason we offered them a contract is to protect ourselves from losing them to a team from the National league they we’re probably our two most consistent and standout players last season.

James Hardy has been released by Telford in order for him to join a National League club. Considering we have that many injuries we couldnt fill the bench yesterday I'd hope we are in the running. But the chances are he's off to Chesterfield or Stockport

he pulled a brown envelope from his back pocket and paid off his contract smells a bit like Chesterfield to me

Rubbish. They are where they are on merit. Decent ground & fans .
Yep, bottom of the league and ready to drop deliciously back through all the leagues to where they really belong, just like Yeovil did.

Aye, the world was definitely comfortable with Burton Albion in the Championship wasn't it?

Let's face it, it was quite fun originally but now it's time for Burton to return to non league.
