Who is he?Any good?
His first touch is poor and despite being a tall lad he can't win a header. Our fans seemed to take to him cos he scored a few tap ins and free headers, most of which came from pinpoint crosses from Newton.

Burrow was given the usual drivel of just because he's tall, he's automatically pigeon-holed as a target man, which he isn't. But, yeah, as GG says above, he needs crosses into the box and good ones because he's not someone that'll batter his way through defenders to get on the end of them. No coincidence that he stopped scoring when a) we stopped crossing the ball and b) when Newton went off the boil November/December time.

Since the end of last season, he's actually more of a 'marmite player' than I thought he was. I suppose my thoughts on keeping him may change when we can compare him against who else we bring in. It just leaves us light up front.

Bishop and Burrow up top is hardly cause for concern to the division I don't think.

Yep, certainly divided opinion amongst many Imps, came here with not the greatest reputation as a goal scorer but especially in the early months of last season, did quite well. As others have said, he is not a target man so give him better service and enough chances and he should do ok. He struggled to nail down a first team spot when DSY came into the club, then both seemed to play a few games before being swopped for the other again. Best of luck Jordan.

Andy Bishop won't suit hoof it football either. Will get a headed goal or two, but outside the box he's shit in the air. Jumps too early and if he wins a header it's rarely directed to one of his team mates.

His best goal I saw was a header against Grimsby, that was a Tomlinson cross.
Think he had falling outs with management here.

A few comments to the Lincoln fans.

Sparrow is on his way down the leagues. When he first started out he was a talented wide man, pacy and with an eye for goals. His equaliser in the League 1 playoff final victory versus Millwall was heart stopping and brilliant. A true eye for being in the right place and with the right temperament. His spell in the Championship with Brighton led to nothing more. His second spell with us was disappointing and he rarely got a game. He was loaned out. Gone was his pace and he moved into central midfield. He still has an eye for goals and can ghost into the box and he might cause some damage in there. His coolness has gone though and his other side has appeared. With a loss of pace, he reacts too much. Expect disciplinary problems. He can be a hothead and in his younger days did some time for assault.

Waterfall has potential and is young. I am not sure if he has reached his level, but he is a good lad who gives it all. He was a bit raw with us and was loaned out due to a high amount of mistakes. But he will have learned and as he matures I reckon you may have a decent centre back on your books. He has not been in cotton wool and has played the man's game for several seasons now. Good luck to him and if given time, he might come really good.

Good luck for the forthcoming season from your unitary cousin up north.

You guys got the wrong CB initially.

Boyce was the better of the two, but you got there eventually!

We have signed ex Halifax and Guiseley Utility man Kevin Holsgrove.
Not a great signing on paper hopefully he will just be a squad player and we still are looking at bringing in Miller but I doubt it.

Just when I thought life couldn't get much harder for Stockport County fans. It's gobsmacking that he's still at that level, managing to fool clubs into thinking he's a good player by playing his first two games moderately well. I think him going to Edgeley Park marks his 13th career move to date. For us he was OK to start with, scoring the single goal against Scouseport near the start of the season, then got sent off at Salisbury City the next game and never played well again. We kept him until late January I believe before loaning him out. Same story wherever he goes, seemingly. Plays well once or twice and then farts around as if he's got the keys to the kingdom. It's actually quite sad that he'll be doing the same old thing in front of 2,500 fans next season.

NY has liked Holsgrove ever since he had one decent game against us for Colwyn Bay, I couldn't see it myself, always looked a distinctly average striker at that level, you'll see worse and better.

We've signed Dan Walker (at Braintree last season I believe). Could get confusing as we now have 2 strikers with the surname Walker!

How are the new teams in the National getting on with transfers? Haven't seen much for Boreham?

Not really a signing but Chris Doig has now officially retired from playing and will be solely our assistant manager, he pretty much was last season anyway (made 4 appearances) but now will no longer be registered to play.

Torquay signing number two is James Hurst. He's 23, and mainly a right back but can also play wing back or right wing.

He's signed from Hednesford and has also played for West Brom, Portsmouth, West Brom (again), Valur (Iceland), Crawley & Valur (again) + loan spells at Blackpool, Shrewsbury, Chesterfield, Birmingham and Northampton.

That many clubs, and having dropped down from West Brom to Hednesford by age 23, is surely a bad sign. Anyone know anything about him?

Wow not a great review.
My own only Defence for the signing is he always impressed me for Guiseley and it looks like he will just be a squad player. Hopefully he is on non contract terms.

Good player is Hurst, too good for Conference North from what I saw of him, probably best as a wing back.
I think he will do well for you Gulliball.

Maybe my opinions of him have distorted but I can't see any evidence to the contrary! I get the impression that if a player can't score more than one or two goals at a club at one level, then he should probably drop down and find his feet in the tier below. The managers who have been impressed by him must see summat, but it's lost on me.

Think tour opinion was actually a bit bullish Pliny

Thanks for this, it's encouraging to hear. Hopefully we can give him a settled home and kick start a move back up the pyramid.
