We're signing some right back from Valencia for £35m.

Joao Cancelo. Decent attacking wing back/winger and previously an FM legend. Not so good at full back. He's improved a bit on the defending side recently (Italian coaching will do that for you) but he's well known for his poor positioning and being a lazy cunt defensively. For example...

Solid signing if he's coming in as a winger, not so much if he's expected to play full back.

Unbelievably, we've signed Kongolo, breaking our club record transfer fee for I think the 5th time in 12 months.

Hardly any of us thought we had a chance of signing him permenantly, Monaco only signed him last year for £12m on a 5 year deal from Feyenoord, and he's been fucking quality, could definitely have done better than us! But players seem to like it here, that's now all 3 of our loanees from last season signed permenantly.

In our first 26 league games we conceded 44 goals, in the final 12 with Kongolo we conceded 12. If we get a quality creative wide player we can certainly progress from last season.

Signed Raul Jiminez on loan. Great signing which will probably go under the radar by most.

Afobe out on loan. Our net striker number currently still at 1 then. Nuno really takes this 1 up top business seriously.

Greg Cunningham finally gets a Premier League move, presume he'll play over Joe Bennett.

I think it is very telling I got neither of his names right. I remember that barely any of our signings played that year.

Just checked and only Iverson and Silias started that dreadful day at Blackburn. Silias played maybe a handful more games after that then vanished, am confident Luzhny didnt make it to 15 appearances for us.

It is amazing to me to think about how different promption feels this time, although still hugely fond of that playoff final team.

Someone summed it up on social media for me. On our debut season the last time we were in the PL we signed a 37 year old Marcus Hahnemann. Now we've signed one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Rui Patricio. If anything it shows the statement of intent.

Was it on a free or was there a fee involved?

If it's a free, surely that means the other players who want out of their contracts will be allowed to?

3 weeks ago we bid €18m and they rejected it. Since then he has ripped his contract up, over the episode with the fans attacking the team last season. Now we have signed him on a free, but Sporting CP's owner has vowed to take any of the players to court who have canceled their contracts. I think under exteme situations like being attacked by your own fans at training, the are grounds to break from a contract.

In reality we'll have to pay a compensation package to Sporting, but it wont be anything close to the €18m we offered.

Will be interesting to see how this develops. And if it drags on, will it affect his registration?

Made me laugh that. But tbf, Hahnemann wasn't bad.

They were all masked and have not been identified. Witnesses said they all had mysterious Black Country accents. Would that make a difference to the contractual ruling?

Granted I am a keeper fanboy but loved big Marcus.
