Absolute hype job imo, I expect to see him turning out for the Cincinnati Lumberjacks within 4 years having been a MASSIF flop during his 3rd loan to Vitesse. Top transfer work from Dortmund once again though. Offloading Pulisic for a reported £58mil having brought in a much better player for £8mil in Sancho.

Bournemouth always impress me with their transfers. I like the approach of taking young players who aren't quite good enough for the top 6 but who then get a platform to perform on with Bournemouth. They're going to strike gold sooner or later with one and make an enormous profit. They've been a bit unlucky so far with Mings and Cook having big injury problems.

Solanke is a good player. It's an upgrade on an ageing Defoe and he'll learn his trade and be a decent step in for Wilson or King.

Clyne is a blinding bit of business. I was wondering which team outside the top 6 would snap him up as there was no way he was staying as Liverpool's 3rd choice RB. I think Everton may have gone for him had he not been at their direct rivals.

Solanke went from rumoured to confirmed very quickly, we kept that one quiet. The general consensus seems that we're preparing to recieve offers for Wilson, and if we can use 6 months to bed Solanke in, then perhaps we'll be in a better position to cope should one of the top 6 or so come calling for our Callum in the summer.

Howe will of course strongly deny this line of thinking and insist Wilson is staying, and I'd bloody love that to work out correct. But we are just starting to reach that point where our better players start becoming of interest to the bigger fish, and Wilson along with one or two others are the standouts. Many bigger clubs than us have struggled to deal with that situation.

As for Clyne, I'm very chuffed with that. By accounts he's had one or two personal issues, but his performances have been solid enough. 6 months out of the spotlight, in Bournemouth's beach air, getting regular games in a defence where, let's face it, he'll be given a thorough work-out, might get his career back on track. Whilst helping us consolidate in the second half of the season.

Howe's transfer business can be a bit questionable at times. £35/40mil on Ibe and Solanke is madness.

Its good business by Liverpool on Solanke. ~£13 mill profit on him in 18 months aint bad at all. He wasn't featuring at all this season and I think there will be a shake-up on the striker front next season with Origi and Sturridge also moving on as well as Ings and now Solanke. Brewster is well thought of but he was supposed to be back from injury by now, but I'm sure will be wanting to feature next season, and the money we'll get on this sale, the £20 mill for Ings in the summer, and the Origi & Sturridge money should go on someone like Timo Werner for next season.

Bit disappointed Clyne is off on loan, he's been fine covering for the injured starters this season, and not looked off the pace one bit. Hope that doesn't come back to bit us on the arse towards the end of the season - unless we are looking to do a bit of business there this window...

Let's have a proper look first! I dunno about you, I've seen the odd England youth game from him, and the odd cameo for Liverpool, but I can't judge him on that!

Ibe we can certainly say was/is a dud, probably the biggest dud. But that was a lot of successful transfers ago now.

I thought Brooks for 10-11m, having only played about 15 competitive football league games, was a big risk. After about 2 games here it was clear he's absolutely fantastic, and inevitably, Spurs are already sniffing around. As they were Lewis Cook before his ACL.

It's a fine line, we either sign well and will struggle to hold onto them long, or we sign poorly and Howe will get stick.

And we made either a small profit or only a small loss on selling them on again (depending where you read). All be it the other way, ending up with the scrabbling Championship clubs, where price inflation is also seemingly an issue.

Something to be said for taking the punt on potential, knowing there's still resale value there if they flop, like Afobe.

Solanke is strong and pretty good in the air, though he does need to improve on his heading accuracy for a striker. He wasn't great when paired with other second stringers, but when he played with the main guys, he did look a real threat. The service into him will need to be good to get the best out of him. If it is, he could start to realise his potential.
