He's your friend? In that case of course you'd side with him and your opinion on him is invalid. And his constant digs at us over the years is not the "truth" it's one eyed bullshit. He's just a typical tabloid journalist controversial smug biased opinions presented as facts. Should work for the Sun. Our budget last year was no where near what people like him try and make out. Even after we get promoted he can't bring himself to say much positive. And that ridiculous article criticising us over the sacking of Pennock last year ahead of the play off final was equally uneducated and biased.

I believe he does when he gets the chance, still seems to like Evans as well. Tbf spends more time brown nosing the West Ham heirachy and slating Wenger these days though.
Just off Twitter they have an article in same edition praising Ebbsfleet for."bottle" so it's not like it's a principled stance against 'money teams'. Must be another quorn hater.

I didn't know things had got so bad for Wenger that he's now managing in the National League!

It's an interesting point about teams going full-time/pro. My club at Step 5 there have been/are teams paying £500-2k a week. Rediculous! Out of 22 teams in the MFL Premier at least 14 pay a wage.
Hereford were promoted (not as easily as they were at step 4) as they could afford decent wages on 2,800 gates, next season we have former Bromsgrove Rovers, Worcester City and it also looks like Ilkeston could drop to ours too if there money issues aren't resolved.
I will stop there as I have completely lost my point.
Not sure about the South, but in the North there was Fylde this season who were FT. There's then the decent sized Clubs for that league in Stockport, Kiddy, Darlo and now York who are a mix of FT and/or a bit of money.

Salford have got a bit behind them and are going FT this summer as well along with Harrogate. Nuneaton are FT, but their model seems to work on signing young, released FL academy and selling them on rather than actually wanting to get anywhere with it.

So , you lot have sunk to the level of FGR ,,whereas Pools ,Tranmere ,Wrexham ,Aldershot , Chester , Halifax and Torquay have set up a 'breakaway league ' for proper clubs ......decent TV coverage too ....

Huge demand for people to watch shit football on TV. I know, we were on loads last season. Proper clubs, ffs. Play proper fucking football then.

Altho tbf, there seem to be more FGR supporters in this thread than at their home matches.

FGR 10th best supported team last season in National League with average of 1815 which if same next season would not be least supported club in Football League.
Remember FGR are the team from smallest town/village in history of Football League so undoubtedly our support will be lower than big city clubs.
I don't think there are 1815 supporters on this forum let alone 1815 from FGR.

To suggest that FGR's fanbase comes solely from Nailsworth is to suggest that Cheltenham's only comes from the town itself. FGR cover the whole Stroud district area (they used to be call Stroud FC at one point) and arguably quite a bit of Gloucester since the floods. Much like Cheltenham have a high number of supporters from Tewkesbury and Gloucester as well.

Article from the Non-League Paper here:

http://www.thenonleaguefootballpape...e-the-last-to-spend-big-in-bid-for-promotion/

As it says further down the article, there are tonnes of Clubs waiting in the wings with decent money behind them - the National League North (an ironic name) has its fair share and more and more Club in the regional leagues are also going full time now, too.

How the fuck can Billericay have a budget of 20k p/w at that level, that's mad if true.

That's not a bad wage budget for L2 on FM:bg:

I think Tamplin's put it up to £25k/week this season.

Well that's not how to do it.

Even if you want to chuck money at it you still need a strategy.

Not being the worst supported team. High aspirations indeed.

Fucking glory hunters everywhere. It gets embarrassing when you see FGR shurts on the streets of Salford, Trafford and Kuala Lumpur.

You are misreading this thread.
The figure of 1815 was given as a direct reply to poster saying FGR had little support.
I'm sure that number will be bettered in next 12 months.
That is my belief and future aspiration for club.

I was unaware that FGR shirts are being worn on the streets of Salford and Trafford.
Thanks for letting everybody know.
That's brilliant.

Tamplin took control of Billericay only a few weeks before the end of the season. Mind you, if he decides to continue picking and managing the team then next season might not be the cakewalk you would expect of a team with a wage budget that size. I wouldn't say he's getting great value for money either as the standard of player he's getting is mid-table National League.

I once thought I saw another FGR shirt in Prague, then I realised it was my own reflection in the window.

I’m hoping to see a big boost to our home attendance next season, but have to admit I’d not be taking that for granted. More likely a modest increase over time.

Success should be enough to encourage people along, but it’s still necessary to educate potential supporters what they’re missing out on. Once they come along they are impressed. The New Stadium if it comes to fruition will help massively in recruitment. The Stroud urban area has 116,000 people, so some potential there.

I think we’ve learnt what amenities local people appreciate when they come to football. They expect more that just watching the match. (Hell I swear half our crowd don’t even care if we win or not! Actually that may not be a bad thing. Must be the influence of the local Rugby tradition). You have to maximise the match day experience across the board, the club have learnt this and are on the right track.

If we can keep Liam Noble and add one or two more with the necessary experience/quality, I’ll be more than happy, so long as we survive the drop of course.

That's gonna be tough, seems like we've lowered our asking price to 50k with the other 50k coming in add-ons, which points to the player being keen to move. If he wasn't I doubt we'd even be considering it. Not sure how we'll replace him, will be a huge loss.
