That all looks optimistic to me. We have the highest rate of excess deaths in the world. The notion that we will get next season finished with paying crowds in attendance without multiple hold-ups feels at the moment, unrealistic.

Unlike other countries with competent governments, the UK looks almost entirely reliant on the development and availability of a vaccine, which may well be a long way away.
what l meant was that as the world cup in 2022 is in the winter we could in theory play the 2021/22 season anywhere between August 2020 and November 2021 which has plenty of room for 4-5 months worth of no games within that time frame.

Hope you’re right. Champions 2020/26 sounds weird.

Well all these scientists say that it will more than likely come back stronger again autumn and winter and remain until a vacine is found.

the 2nd wave of the Spanish flu in 1918 killed more than the 1st wave so it is quite likely that the 2nd wave will be bad - but i prefer the Dean Koontz theory that there will be a 2nd wave, but then it disappears until 2030 before disappearing for good.

Can kicked further down the road by the EFL with the next meeting scheduled for 8th June which has to raise further questions on the likelihood of playoffs going ahead. Unfortunately this also has a knock on effect on the NL who will presumably continue to sit on the fence until a decision is made further up the food chain. All this uncertainty can't be helping clubs at any level.

Poland will let fans back into stadiums to watch professional football from 19 June, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has said.

The stadiums hosting matches from the top-tier league, the Ekstraklasa, will be no more than a quarter full to allow for social distancing

Relatively easy with seats, which at top-tier level are covered by CCTV. Entry and exit a problem ,toilets a nightmare. Standing areas impossible, social distancing a total no-go. Doesn’t bode well for stadiums at our level.

I originally thought it would be Christmas before we got back to playing football but I'm pretty optimistic that we'll be back in stadiums by September.
Things are accelerating back to normal, crowds are gathering at parks and beaches, factories, businesses and shops reopening and people just aren't as worried as they were just weeks ago, rightly or wrongly.

We should be ok, 20k means we would drop to roughly 6,500 capacity. Id imagine all understand bars/food would be closed.
plenty of toilets too but would be a queue social distance.
I think it'd be a case of turn up watch the football only, go home.

Things are a long way from normal and after a long slow decline, the number of new cases may be increasing again. Your forecast is very optimistic.

Just yesterday the chief medical officer said why officially we have 2000 new cases a day the real number is actually around 8000 a day. So with the virus spreading so easily the number of new cases & deaths are only gonna go up with things being eased even more.

Just from walking around my town social distancing has already gone right out the window, so I can only imagine its much the same everywhere else. The countries in Europe who started easing restrictions actually had this somewhat under control and their numbers had dropped to low levels......meanwhile we are opening everything back up why the virus is still spreading like wildfire.

The government are living in a dream world if they really believe there wont be a second peak/wave.

I told you all weeks ago the people will decide what happens.

Like you say, the rules are being flouted big time when you look around.

There really is no excuse for the big blob from Harrogate to be sat inside 24 hours a day with his greasy fingers grazing through another back of crisps. Smelly bastard.

Ah stocky the foreteller. Peak scientific authority and now clairvoyant guru. For Stocky foretold it....
You missed the whole Dominic Cummings peak "rightside of history moment" but yeah another brilliant bit of insight Cheshire Stocky.

Tho posting about your odd fantasies about me at 10.53pm on a Friday night will have people thinking you have literally no life.

Surely you have something better to do than post on a non league internet forum at that time?

No lady in your life to wine and dine and chat the Friday night away with? Not included on group chats with your friends? Out in the cold.
No wonder you are so maga about lockdown. Then again you lot are always a bit socially challenged.
Poor Stocky.

Quite right. Since the onset of the panic about this pandemic, the government has insisted that it would always be guided by scientific evidence.
Presumably under public pressure they are now blatantly disregarding that advice.
Not only that, but some of the epidemiologists are now relying on a 2nd spike to prove their credentials as experts....
It would be funny if it wasn’t so damn serious.

Yes, I think you're on the right side of history again.

history -

noun

1. the study of past events, particularly in human affairs.

2. the whole series of past events connected with a particular person or thing.

A section of the public. Opinion polls has shown continued majority support for maintaining the lockdown.

Apparently, the 'South West' has the highest R rate in the UK at 0.9%, but that is based mainly in the Bristol and WSM areas, whereas Cornwall has had one case in the past 3 days, and there were no deaths at all between the 18th and 27th of this month.

Where has there been a second wave where the lockdown has already been lifted? Like the flu we will never get down to zero cases and zero deaths even with a vaccine, anyone waiting for that before we start moving around is deluded. This virus is here to stay for some time just all need to learn how to live with it just like with the Flu.

Spain had 2 deaths yesterday - we should at least be aiming for something like that.

Saying lockdowns have been lifted is a bit simplistic. Social distancing rules are still in place in jurisdictions where restrictions have been eased to ensure that there won’t be a second wave.

Iran relaxed their 'lockdown' April 11th, daily cases continued to fall for about 20 days and stopped at 970 daily cases, it then began to climb once again and has done since, they registered 2,819 cases yesterday, probably wouldn't declare it a second wave as such but goes to show how easy things can kick up again when people are lax.

France and Spain eased lockdown around the same time May 10th/11th, Germany a bit before and seem to be coping well, daily cases are still low but as is the case you don't see the results of your actions for 2-3 weeks after you don't know until then, we seem to be easing restrictions when daily cases are dropping, but still on average around the 2,000 mark.
