2 positive tests from 996 players and staff in the Prem.

Shut it down, it's NOT SAFE I tell you.
Brighton and Hove Albion are now going to follow the new Government guidance to the letter. All of the squad have to travel hundreds of miles to protect their families.

Thanks chuck. I never made a claim about whether there was a majority for it or not, just that the option chosen was the least attractive for anyone.
In a ballot, the winning option is by definition the MOST attractive option. Sorry if you didn't know ballots worked like that. Christ, I'm feel I'm finally getting a handle on the term "fish in a barrel". :ds:

It’s ironic, the right wingers on our site are quieter than many of the shit right wingers we’ve had on the pitch.

I hope you're not implying the Tories, one of Britain's established mainstream parties, and by association the millions of ordinary Britons who vote for them, are "right wing". That would be a very foolish position to take. :ds:

I’m not sure why you’re trying to start up an argument about this. Obviously FPTP is attractive to some people, especially if you prioritise electing a majoritarian government. I never denied that.
I just stated that the other option was attractive to no one and as someone else stated above, Cameron was never going to let the Lib Dem’s put a more proportional option on the table.

Well I’ve heard some unlikely stories over the last couple of days, but the news that the Tory Party isn’t right wing is right up there.

This is why can't have sensible discussions about politics anymore and why Tories do their talking in the voting booths.

The left of centre always shouts loudest on Notts Mad and on here and on Twitter. Then come the elections, then the Left pipe down for about a month licking their wounds then off it all goes again.
Elite, Sidders and BFP haven't changed anyone's minds on Notts MAD, indeed I suspect they've driven down poster numbers and it's the same on here, H&G and B2TF aren't changing minds, it's just entrenchment.

I'm missing the football we all are, the politics is divisive and the insults are a wrecking ball to what at its best is a light hearted football forum.

I mean - are we really supposed to believe that a party who wanted mass nationalisations and tax rises would have randomly gone all libertarian on us during a global pandemic?

Regardless of what you think of Corbynism or Labour generally, of course they would have handled this particular situation better.

If you seriously think that you are deluded. I'm Labour supporter for 50 years and I'm keeping a close eye on Starmer. He's made a good start by getting rid of that awful Formby woman. I'll vote labour again when the catastrophic Momentum are disbanded. I'm not holding my breath.

It’s ok guys, Dominic Cummings drove 260 miles with his sick wife (covid positive) whilst he was feeling ill himself, to self isolate on his in-laws estate with his 4 year old.

Perfectly natural thing to do at the height of a global pandemic.

I hope he does the right thing and resigns otherwise my love affair with the Tories is not going to last very long.

Why do people keep bringing up an irrelevant hypothetical to deflect from the reality?

Tories have been in for 10 years now and life has been shit and getting worse for a lot of people during that time. Long before corona. They've had plenty of time to make things better and it's still 'yeah but can you imagine if Labour was in charge??!1!??'. The time for this being any kind of defence for them (if it ever was) has long since ended.

I'm happy you agree Johnson is being (or just is) incompetent but shifting the rest of your post to imagining how Labour may or may not have done instead is subtly and maybe subconsciously reinforcing the general letting him off the hook when he should be being held far more accountable.

Nothing personal for what it's worth Railway Blue, just an example on here of the narrative I've seen so many times elsewhere online and something I think is worth pointing out.
Corbyn would have done for UK what Maduro has done to Venezuela. They're two peas from the same pod.

I don't think this is about whether you like Corbyn, Momentum or even Labour, I just don't think it's credible to claim that Corbyn would have been even more relaxed about the virus than Johnson was when nearly every policy in the Labour manifesto was about increasing the size of the state and public sector. That doesn't imply a hands off approach in a pandemic.

He should resign, but don't underestimate the enormous power and influence he holds within the government. The volume of ministers queueing up to defend him tells us everything.

There’s also been calls for him to go from the Tory benches themselves.

Backbench only so far though. Steve Baker is one, he and Cummings strongly dislike each other and have done for some time.

Poor from this government. Cummings must have some serious shit over Johnson and the ministers who are coming out to defend him. It's a clear example of "do as we say, not as we do".

Why the fuck should we follow lockdown rules to their letter now?

Exactly.

Going to go on Holiday, come back and work straight away without doing the forced 14 day quarantine period. When the officer knocks on to enquire about my lack of isoaltion, simply tell him it was my "instinct" to go back to work to protect my family as their health would be compromised if I can't work.

An absolute joke.

I've been consistent on here about the double standards that have been surrounding this lockdown since day one and this takes the crown.

Fuck this. Seriously. People don't know the pressure people are under and I'm not getting into an argument with HG Yellow&Black about this at all. I simply cannot be arsed.

Fuck me I found myself agreeing with your post before this and you went and posted this....

You stand wholly against the common currency of scientific backed sense, that the majority of the world has implemented.
The fact that the neo Tories are that incompetent to implement it here, along with their other global populist pals, should not disguise the common sense and scientific need for the necessity of the things you rally against.

You or South Korea's experience of dealing with SARS. Stockies chattering or the fact of this being a new, highly invasive and infectious virus with no knowledge of its long-term impact on health contraction....

You sat in Cheshire extolling the need for "fuck it", Demonic Cummings did it and the Tory incompetence and tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths abandonment; or the response of thinking about those poorly paid and burdened upon folk who have to deal with the exposure to this virus will bring. Fair play I want a pub garden as more than football frankly. I want to see pals and loved ones as much as you but don't be maga minded stocky.

As for the sop from Halifax, today at just after 5pm was your "RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY" laid bare, you contemptable fool.

Where was all this nonsense when 4 Labour MP’s broke the rules? Double standards all over the shop here.

Fundamental difference here is that Dominic Cummings is responsible for advising and has advocated the government policy of staying home, protecting the NHS and saving lives in its initial stage. To break those rules whilst with suspected symptoms and call it 'instinct' is an insult to the rest of the British public, the vast majority of whom have followed the guidelines even if it means they were unable to see dying family members.

It's defending the indefensible if you believe what he's done is OK - this is a terrible look for the government. Keir Starmer is also doing the sensible thing of not saying anything and letting everything crumble in front of him (I said I wouldn't get political within this thread but that's it).

PS: Just promote Wealdstone.

The message was clear, ‘stay home, protect the nhs, save lives’.

Not really sure how that could be misunderstood (especially if you were in a meeting when it was being written)
