Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I'm assuming the testing cost for NL teams is the same as EFL teams i.e. about about £16k a round (using the £150k figure to see the season out in the EFL (£150k/9).

yes - apart from at Notts County where they have registered a 5000 man squad for the play offs - the players that don't make the final 16 will sit in the stands

You can only base the decision on what has happened, not what might have happened. The fact of the matter is, those two sides have been the best so far and there's likely to be two spaces that need filling. There is no fairer way, not even play-offs now at this stage.
You don't award the gold medal for the 800 metres after 600 metres. You cancel the race.

How do you know Brackley have released a lot of players? I'm not disputing it, I just learn so little about player movements from our own website, that if you've a better source I'd be grateful to have a look at it too.
As far as I can get from Brackley Twitter etc, we`ve got ten either still on contract or just resigned: Lewis, Myles, Franklin, Walker, Dean, Byrne, Murombedzi, Lowe, Armson and Ndlovu. Assume Audel won`t get back from France (big loss) - messrs Baker, Langmead, Smith, Holman, Daire and Fairlamb the rest. Unless I`ve missed anybody, that`s it. Based on last season`s form, not sure how many of these guys would be big losses for different reason, apart from Thierry. Play offs with a ten man side behind closed doors, good fun! Beginning to think that promotion would be a very mixed blessing, getting a competitive squad together, no fans initially etc etc. Would probably write it off now, let York and Kings Lynn fight it out to get what is probably one promotion slot from NLN.

So 11th hour problems - Govt only class elite football down to the National League so as it stands at the moment there cannot be any play offs in NLN and NLS. NL rules do not allow promotion from NLN and NLS without play offs so it would need a rule change for York and Havant

I understand vote will not be today so there will be no conclusion until Monday when all votes have to be recieved. Not looking good now for Havant and York I am afraid will do a final pod on the issue to explain

A better analogy is Formula 1, as a lot of money and effort has gone into getting there and couldn't be re-run 10 minutes later. And they award the victory following cancellation if 75% of the race is complete.

Back to football, if the coronavirus had struck after the season was complete but before the play-offs, nobody could complain if they promoted the runner-up and scrapped the play-offs.

So basically, despite being top of the league when the season ended, we're not only going to be denied promotion, we're going to be denied even the opportunity of promotion (since there are no play-offs). Trust the incompetent pencil-pushing twats of the National League board to propose such an absolute fucking disgrace of a sporting outcome.

I hope we sue them for all they're worth if this gets passed.

it's the government pandemic rules that are stopping the play offs - not the NL...
but i understand your anger.

Why couldn’t they promote second place in each regional league and relegate the bottom three from the NL?

I would be fuming if I was a York fan.

because aparrently the option isn't in the rules for NLN or NLS. but is for the NL (in the EFL rules)

So this vote. A simple majority in each league required for that plan to go through?

York should come up and Fylde should get relegated. If the National League had any sporting integrity, that is what they would go for. But doesn't look likely.

Not comfortable with Barnet getting rewarded for having a shit pitch either, really. Just like Kings Lynn are. We would have had a very slim chance of winning the play-offs so it's not because we've missed out and I actually feel its beneficial for our growth that we can build a proper team at this level instead of winging it into the Football League (where the squad would need major surgery to compete in there as it stands).

Bottom line is we need to get it sorted out and get a date in for next season. We need to get football back being played at lower level and in front of crowds.

We get roughtly 5k every other week in roughly a 10k stadium. In two to three months, providing things don't take a turn for the worse, I'm not having it that we can't do that. Same for 99% of lower league teams.

We're opening Thorpe Park, indoor shopping centres from this month and next month.

Providing things don't get worse in re: to infection rates, Late August, Early September we should be playing and in front of crowds. Otherwise clubs will just die. Lower league fans should unite towards this goal and be vocal because we will all be an afterthought in this and nobody gives a fuck if lower league teams go bust apart from us.

Is there anything specific in the government rules banning semi-pro teams from playing? Or is this just an assumption made by the NL?

If I understand this correctly, this means that hypothetically if a semi-pro team were in the NL playoffs then they would have been banned from taking part regardless.

Poor decision not to auto promote 2nd place at step 2. Looks like it's been done purely to keep Fylde happy and avoid Ebbsfleet being relegated on fractional goal difference.

I strongly hope enough clubs vote against the proposal & insist on two more promotion/relegation places. Fylde haven't done enough to stay up, York have done more than enough to go up, we'd all be fuming in that situation

the FA told the NL - the NL didn't decide.

Yep.

Clubs should put aside self interest in this and not just think "well we're alright".

Imagine being in York's position here. Kings Lynn lucky to go up, rewarded for having matches postponed. The way it was going, York were going to walk it IMO. In a normal scenario, Kings Lynn would have been justly punished for having that many games in hand by having a busy schedule near the end which would have hindered them. Kings Lynn's form was shocking too which was starting to prove the theory.

And then to top it off, Fylde shite for more than 3/4 of a season, York did well for more than 3/4 of a season. It's a no brainer to anyone with an ounce of sporting integrity.

I think if you can end a season early due to a global pandemic then you can tinker with the playoff rules surely?
you could have a vote on that yes... (i'm all in favour of Fylde going down btw)

If all rules are out the window, the only rule to follow is that of Sporting Integrity.

No brainer. York up. Fylde down. Over 3/4 of season played.

it's not that easy as Havant and Waterloovile have a better PPG than York - so it would be them going up if it's just 2 down
