So these 6 squads are complete, in contract, and reasonably match fit we have to assume. 6 pitches playable, and not undergoing drastic maintenance . Where’s the money coming from to stage this nonsense? Only one team will ultimately get anything from it, the rest will be skint. And expected to restart training within a few weeks.

That‘s almost irrelevant. Assuming that the squad is still complete and contracted ,when they go back to “work” the clubs will have to restart paying their wages. There will be almost no income and a lot of expense.

I think the NL asked the government for clarification, which is why they've made the decision on PPG and no relegations for NLN and NLS.

How can he "refuse to accept" it, another week playing and they'd have been confirmed relegated anyway.

They are really, really shit and by far the worst team in the league so I don't think they can whinge too much if only they went down as they clearly deserve to be relegated by whatever method. But you can't be changing the rules like that because it affects the teams coming up, it's a joke.

As I said no the back the whole thing should have just been called off, teams can ask not to be in the play offs, if they don’t time to cough up.

Deciding a season based on 75% of the games is not ‘fair’ on anyone. No one deserves promotion or relegation unless it had already been confirmed based on games played.

There is no perfect system to finalise this season given all remaining matches cannot be played.

What has been proposed protects the 2 up / 2 down with the EFL which should be the priority in my opinion, and is probably just about feasible given costs and logistics of staging play off matches at NL level, where many of the clubs involved have full time professional players.

Some clubs will miss out, others will gain. I’m afraid that is just the way it needs to be.

correct - preserving 2 up 2 down - and maybe one day increasing it to 3 up 3 down is vital for the survival and growth of the NL brand.

Barnet ‘finished’ 4 points behind Stockport with 4 games in hand. We had lost once in 15(?) league games.

We could have lost all 4 games in hand, or we could have won all 4 games in hand. There was no ‘right’ way to sort this out.

The issue is you struggled to get games on when others around you could and are ultimately being rewarded for that now and were at the time as you would have been fresher then your opponents.

You would have been pretty much playing two games a week for the rest of the season so your results would have almost certainly suffered.

All of the above aside I still think there is no better way then ppg but when a Barnet fan on here admits your chairman could have sorted the pitch issues but decided not to and I think hinted you didn’t have a proper groundsman, it’s pretty annoying especially as we get games on when our league neighbours often don’t.

One major issue with the NL season is the fixture list being top-heavy, they prefer to put as many games as possible in the first month or two.

Would they still do that if that's when crowds are at their most restricted (and least profitable)? Or make it back heavy instead? If the latter then I'd hope they also extend the season by a month, even then you're still risking Spennymoor-esque backlogs with 3 games a week

I don’t believe we would have a chance of winning anyway so I’m not too bothered but when top of the NLN table York can’t get promoted and 11th-placed in the NL table Barnet do have a chance then something is not right.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, there are big costs involved here. The squads have to be brought out of furlough, quite soon to get some match-fitness and will have to be paid. There will be no gate money. Who’s to say administrators and club owners are going to stump up the cash? I shouldn’t think BT payment will anywhere near cover the outlay.There is only one winner— the rest will be skint.
