Richard Brindley was a decent player for us in 17/18, so I’m going to vote strictly on the merits of the goals!

Didn't make any difference, Notts "stormed" to an early 53/47 lead but Sutton fought back to hold a 51/49 margin for the majority of the final few hours. At one point it was 50/50 with 2 hours to go.

We’ve just made our media manager redundant. He’s been with the club about 17 years. Does an outstanding job and has a vital role around the club. Why we haven’t just furloughed him is anyone’s guess. Think there’s more bad news to come personally.

Aye, he was very good, I’d imagine going forward his position will be taken up by a volunteer position instead of a paid gig, they’ve also got rid of several office staff and one of the grounds men, I too dunno why furloughing wasn’t an option, perhaps they’ll come out and tell us in time but like Jeff said on Twitter the chairman’s pockets aren’t bottomless and sadly redundancies are necessary if we are to stay afloat, I doubt that he can keep it running like this for much longer.

I think a lot of off field positions will go the volunteer route. They said a few weeks ago they were doing a major business review and that's never good news. Can see 44 week contracts, maybe even a hybrid full/part time system coming in. Reduced squad for sure. Doesn't mean we can't be successful with that but this is the reality for what will be the 4th season out of the FL. We won't be the only ones scaling back.

The concern is how it's being communicated. It shouldn't need Micky Barron all over Twitter announcing things like this.

Very true, Mark did everything on the social side, it's why we haven't had a word out of Pools since April 2nd, the last twitter post put out about the lottery could've been written by me dad, I'd imagine it was Maguire.

Hignett tentatively talked about a part time hybrid last season, almost like he was gauging the response from fans, this was before the world turned to shit, so you'd imagine they've certainly talked about it in the past, excellent excuse for them to put it into action if that's the route they want to go down, hard to argue against it either, considering the financial impact being full time is having on the club.

Agree, and on the flip side there are loads of poor teams at step 4 who get an easy ride each year.

Also with the reorganisation at Step 5 more than one team has been able to progress and generally when they get to Step 4 they more than hold their own. Market Drayton Town won a Step 5 league 10 or 12 years ago, but they've only finished once in the top half and struggle every year, but most teams do well.

What do you think of these top players and what they been doing or not doing over the past week - bad PR for them and been greedy or maybe been singled out a bit?

Know they have set up an NHS fund which is good but do get the feeling the horse has already bolted in terms of their relationship with fans (if they can about that..)

Mind you the ground will still be full up when football returns!

The National League has advised clubs in its three divisions to vote in favour of ending the regular season without playing games that were scheduled up to 25 April.
If the vote passes, clubs will then be asked to help "determine the outcomes of the season" through further polls.
A decision is expected to be made next week.
Meanwhile, the Football Association has ratified a decision to end non-league football below National League level.
The FA Council's decision confirms the immediate expunging of the 2019-20 seasons in steps three-seven of the non-league men's game, as well as the women's pyramid and the wider grassroots game.

After a meeting on Thursday, the National League board has written to member clubs, who play in tiers five and six of the men's game, also known as steps one and two of non-league.
The letter, seen by BBC Sport, explains that the board have approved the idea of immediately ending the regular season.
The board has received £2m of funding from the Premier League, which will be sent out to clubs next week, with £58,333 to be given to each National League club and £13,636 each to those in the North and South divisions.
The letter said: "The board has approved an ordinary resolution for clubs, that the playing season shall immediately end for all fixtures scheduled up to and including 25 April 2020. The board recommends clubs vote for this resolution.
"If the ordinary resolution is passed and the remaining 'normal season' league matches of the season are cancelled, the league will then immediately proceed with a poll of North and South clubs to determine the outcomes of the season across those divisions.
"This will be followed by a vote to determine the outcomes of the season in the National Division.
"The appropriate options to determine the outcomes of the season are being diligently prepared, and will be approved by the board before they are sent to clubs in due course."

If the NL are telling clubs to vote to end the season then they probably will. At least there's going to be a proper vote unlike at steps 3-6, the problem is that clubs with nothing to play for or battling relegation will outnumber those going for promotion so it will only go one way.

There's no need to panic now of course, but irrational decisions are everywhere at the moment.

If this really is the case, let's hope that as many of the clubs who have either won their league, or were going to/very likely to, are successful next season.
By the same token. if there is any justice, the sides who should be relegated this year, are equally bad next year.

I think it is a terrible decision to null and void steps 3-7, i would have thought they would have been able to restart before any of the other leagues, either behind closed doors, or playing in front of one man and his dog, as the vast majority do now. Christ, even Boringwood could adhere to social distancing rules at the moment.

So realistically we're looking at these last 9 games not being played and after a vote of clubs, null and void sweeps the boards everywhere except in Barra? the clubs below N/S are already kicking up a stink, imagine if the NL/FA allow our three leagues to finish it via PPG, they'll be penning even more letters!

The FA have effectively rewarded teams that have had poor seasons from Steps 3-7. For teams that no longer had anything to play for prior to the suspension, they wouldn't gain either way, so you'd like to think they'd vote for some form of conclusion.

This is a selfish opinion and obviously there's things more important. Ideally a vote would pass to finish the season properly when it's safe to do so, meaning we'd have the opportunity to earn a promotion without any controversy but given that clubs want some certainty the season will be voted to an end. The best case scenario after that would be to put forward a conclusion that doesn't undo months of hard work across the pyramid.

Having read the statement, I can agree that it is unfair to relegate any side who had a chance of staying up - I think the resolution they've come to in step 3-7 is probably the second best option after completing the season. Still can't agree that "clubs need clarity around the schedule for the 20/21 season" is a valid reason, but all other aspects of the decision make sense.

I'm just glad they've decided that PPG (or PPM as they're calling it) is bollocks.

How long would teams be given to regain some fitness. Unless you've got a gym at home, which is unlikely, players are going to need the equivalent of a pre-season.
