Going off what I witnessed at Crewe and heard about tonight is we look very good and will create plenty of chances but miss too many, also a clear vulnerability at set-pieces something I hope Flint can improve us at.

Yeah sounds about where i’m at, not reading anything in to tonight, see where we are at the end of play saturday.

3-1 Portsmouth. Second home game this week and another loss. Some promising signs though so pretty happy overall.

This Wrexham/Wigan game is absolutely awful

I hope Wrexham can hire a manager with a more exciting brand of football if we're gonna have to watch them a lot this year

Our game was absolutely the better pick, but you just know every Wrexham game is going to be picked for telly

3-1 Gills btw

I appreciate our commitment to insanity by having a centre back sent off and just not replacing him or moving anyone back
How many changes have you made tonight from your strongest 11? Of course made easier by playing ten men (however already 2-0 up at this point) but thats the easiest, most comfortable, competitive game i've seen us play for some time. Even able to bring on some yougsters towards the end.

The overreaction from our fans on Twitter is laughable, you would’ve thought that we’d just been relegated.

That’s because some of you thought you’d already won the league in July again. Then the season kicked off….

Fans overreact, in reality it was always more than likely going to be a home win, but it’s the league cup and we’ll draw someone shit in the next round no doubt.

It’s about that league that counts.

1-1 between us and Accrington at full-time. Won 4-1 on pens. Didn't sound like a great game. Very few chances for both sides.

Our fans are toxic when results are bad.
I get it that nobody likes losing but it’s the League Cup and I genuinely couldn’t give a shit, if we beat Notts on Saturday then suddenly nobody will care about this result.

If you beat Notts you’ll be celebrating promotion again.

Good response from us after Saturday, we desperately need a striker though. No quality up there at all without Mullin.

Dull match though, christ.

I thought it was OK myself. Maybe not fun for the neutral but I enjoyed it.

Hopefully one day we can aspire to the footballing heights of Rochdale.

Yeah I couldn't give a shit about the League Cup really. No shame in losing away at Mansfield in it really, it's an absolutely crap draw. I have no concerns about the defence really, we switched out our entire midfield and gave Cartwright his first match in a long time in net so no red flags there. What I am concerned about though is something I mentioned a few times in pre-season and that's that Rose isn't a lone striker. Doesn't matter if he's up top in a three or with three behind him, he needs to have another striker there with him for me and I can't see us scoring many with him as the sole focal point.

Two fairly second string XIs played out a 1-0 win for Bolton. We brought some starters on towards the end and were more threatening to no avail. Felt like a proper pre season game.

It was terrible, the fact Palmer got man of the match despite looking poor summed it up

No idea what Rochdale have to do with anything though

I know there aren't any Harrogate fans here but they beat us 1 - 0 in the least surprising result of the night.
I thought it was good end to end stuff, with Town coming out on top. What was Edmondson thinking with that penalty?

You wouldn’t want rose by himself up top by himself , you’d be buggered, though he’d spend more time on the floor.

I reckon I'd be starting 3 or 4 of them in our strongest 11, then Bostock came on early and he'd be in there too. We played a new system as well, but yeah it was very comfortable for you.
