I think the away fans now have allocated Dimensions carpark and then walk up Bycars Lane to the stadium. You can get there from Hamil Road but it’ll mean walking through all the home supporters and Staffs Police might get a bit funny about it. Worth noting as well it’s now fully cashless for anyone going which has created a few let’s say debates on that not that it bothers me.

Depending if you’re driving it’s worth using this to book parking in advance

They park at dimensions and walk across and around the training field don't they? So in essence in from behind the ground.

Facilities are really poor, not sure if the away fan zone is set up yet but hence the stand swap and improving the home atmosphere being behind the switch.

On the plus they get front row seats to our swanky mega massive new score board which is absolutely massive!

It's all relative as there's rarely significant trouble at Crewe games but the most trouble I've seen has been at Crewe v Vale games. We beat you at your place in circa 2010 and when we came out of the away end there was a load of Vale fans waiting for us and they attacked the first few Crewe fans who tried to get out, so we turned round, went back in to the ground and left through a home exit. After a game at Gresty Road, there was a load of fans scrapping when we came outside. We've got a much higher % of little scrotes than we used to in our support, so I feel like the chances of trouble are probably higher these days, and I'm just too old to deal with that now...
That was after the Donaldson penalty game wasn't it?

Don't really see much trouble at Vale these days, in fairness to Carol she's made it far more of a family club so with increased attendances (generally get around 6-8k for home league games now) its mostly down to targeting families coming with the fan zone's, junior Valiant's schemes and so forth so those days are by and large well behind us.

Even with some of the huge away followings last seasons down Vale and following's we've been taking away it was never really an issue with trouble and the stand swap should make it even less so as its largely keeping both sets apart.

Yeah I can't remember what we made off it to be honest. Wasn't trying to take the shine off it by the way, opposite in fact. Way better to go see it in a full stadium, even if the home fans did need pyro after every goal to tell them to stand up and clap. Great stadium too, was up high in the corner and had a superb view. One of the best grounds in the country for me, Stamford Bridge.
Yeah agree about Stamford Bridge, that 7-1 was my first time there and I’d always thought that it was one of those grounds on tv that looked ok but nothing special, then you walk in and just Wow it’s absolutely fantastic.
Not a lot of leg room though so my shins were battered when Green smashed that rocket it.

Crewe fans looks like we’ve both agreed a price now for the second round tie. Also tied in some offer for the pizza trophy game but to be honest they couldn’t pay me to attend that.

Vale are not giving us any more tickets after we had sold are initial allocation of just over 1000 due to 'operational reasons'

They are getting lot's of flak from our fans (& some of their own) as there seems quite the appetite for this fixture in South Cheshire. Personally, I think Staffordshire bizzies have got a hold of this one, Stoke are playing at home on the same evening so to keep costs down they have tried to squeeze it all in on the same night, rather than 1 Tuesday & 1 Wednesday, limit us to a 1000 and I would imagine Rotherham will not take loads to Stoke. I bet the overtime payments would have been through the roof.

I cannot believe for 1 minute that PVFC as a club have thought "you know what, let's piss those flat landers off by not giving them any more tickets, that will be hilarious", not many clubs can afford to turn fans away, and even though we are local rivals, it's not quite at the level of Rangers/Celtic or even United/Liverpool for ticket allocations cuts & reprisals.

If it is the work of the old bill, then Carol & co should sue them for potential loss of revenue, it's a shared gate so we could join them, let's be honest, all police forces like to charge football clubs the earth for matchday policing, yet then also cost football clubs their livelihoods with bonkers organisational calls like this.

At the end of the day both the Alex & Vale lose out on extra income.

This is without doubt the most sensible post I've read on the whole issue today. Way too much common sense on display here.

Seems to be police advise and they’ve massively mis judged the interest from Crewe otherwise we could have played Wednesday to avoid a clash with Stoke and the steward issues (we share some).

Wonder if that then ties into the trouble Crewe have been having at games this season.

They’ve only opened the Hamil and Lorne
St for home fans so whilst should be a cracking atmosphere behind both goals it’s would of been better with even just the bottom part of the Railway open.

If we'd sold out the Hamil they'd open the paddock you'd think, but Vale fans don't seem to be too fussed about this game. It's not a derby to most of us. The 2 stands for us hold just over 6k, so clearly not really the appetite for it to not sell them out yet. Either that or classic Vale fans leaving it until last minute. That being the case I'm glad the Paddocks not open yet, be too spread out otherwise. Will make for a better atmosphere this way.

Walker out, Oduor out and Cook absolutely fucked. Miracle if we have a shot on target let alone score.

Kelly a doubt also. Oyegoke too but Halliday is twice the player he is so that is a positive, I guess. Cook needs a rest. Surely he can't start Tuesday? He couldn't move for the last twenty minutes.

Cook needs competition and a rest. But when the alternative is Derbyshire that won't be happening.

Needs a rest after 5 games of a season??
Yes. He's not the fittest is he and a big part of his success last year was not having to play 90 minutes every week.

We'll probably go with the same team as yesterday as there aren't many changes you can make given the lack of reinforcements. Hopefully they bring someone in tomorrow, but I doubt it. Pressure is all on the Vale as the home and higher ranked team. All we need to do is get it to penalties, that'll do for me. Expecting a Vale win, but fingers crossed for an upset.

Should be that much pressure on us really as it’s only a league cup tie rather than FA Cup and I do expect us to make changes for this, probably start Devine for his debut and maybe not risk Wilson, that said potential plumb tie in round 3 and money might see us stick as we’ve a free week next week considering the Pizza LDV Johnstones Cup we can make massive changes for anyway.

We are in miles better of a position than at the time of the draw and are playing some very good stuff especially with the youngsters in midfield so should be a decent game. Probably means more to Crewe than us this one (and would probably be boot on other foot had Crewe been L1 v us L2) so we will have to match that desire no doubt and not under estimate.

Won’t lose sleep if we do go out but would love to keep momentum going more than anything going into Oxford away and then a couple of very winnable home league games. Winning becoming a habit breeds confidence and all that!

Can see us scoring a few, I fancy us to score every game, unfortunately for us we may as well have Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles at the back trying to defend.

3-2 if we play a full team. Hope we do, we need a win to boost the confidence. Play the kids in the other cup

Actually playing them on schedule this season then? Rather than it being shifted back about 5 times?

Bit of a pain in the arse our game tomorrow, not got anyone to rotate and so many looked shattered Saturday so it feels like we could do without it.

I think Wednesday may play a strong side after such a poor start, I’ll just take no injuries. 1500+ going which is way more than I expected after taking 4k in the FA Cup last season.

Not a chance we win in 90 minutes tonight. If we were at home I'd fancy us to beat Vale. But we're wretched away from home and Bell keeps getting a free pass for it which does surprise me somewhat. 2 away wins as manager, 1 due to a penalty vs a toothless Swindon and 1 against an aberration of a Doncaster side is simply horrendous in his 9 months in charge.

5 away wins in our last 48 away league games is 24th in the league form. Until we sort that out, this club is doing sod all this season. We're very lucky we're impressive at home really. Also Harvey Davies will cost us a lot of points this season if his poor form continues.

Get it to penalties and we'll win. But I'm going 3-1 defeat. Team badly needs 3 or 4 in by the deadline. There's something to build on but we're paying so much crap to not play, we're riddled with long term crocks and we also have a lot of inexperienced players who need to cut their teeth at this level yet.

As for the police situation, I think what WCR said is spot on. Staffs Police trying to penny pinch is my opinion too. But I'm not absolving the club of blame. They've acted like amateurs with the Bradford coaches, the Vale allocation and the ludicrous Cheshire Police statement and that's all in a week.

Cheshire Police, on the other hand, would roll out the red carpet for away fans, would never cut allocations and would let them do as they please whilst sticking the boot in to the club that pay them for their presence and its fans. Remember, this is the same police force who were staunchly opposed to us building a renewable energy solar farm scheme in our car park because they claimed football hooligans could damage the solar panels, despite no disorder ever happening in the Main Stand car park in my many years of going.

Not to mention how badly they handled the aftermath of the Walsall game and the ridiculous statement that followed which tars the majority of passionate young fans with the brush of a small minority of (usually over 18) idiots all beaked up and boozed up before games. Until their football fan hating, rugby loving Chief Constable gets his wholly undeserved pension, then we're going to suffer from this awful force a lot more than other clubs with the same minority of idiots do.

We do have a penalty specialist in Ripley in goal so could go either way that one but we usually win at Crewe, not so much at home so cant take home advantage for granted!

Notice the statement from both clubs on "Tragedy chanting" believe there was an incident about signing off the death of one of our fans opening day which is rumoured to be part of the reason for the restricted allocation possibly?

Hopefully no trouble occurs and its a decent game, safe trip down to all Alex fans and bring your sun glasses for the new scoreboard right next to you!

Not expecting much out of the Vale game tonight, just gutted I couldn't get a ticket and to top it off they don't show League Cup games on ifollow.

Port Vale 2-1 Crewe (Chislet, Ojo, Long) 6,500 (1030 Crewe)

I don’t think Chislett will play to be honest, probably be on the bench with Saturday in mind. Maybe one or two others will be rested too (I’m guessing James Wilson will sit out for Josh Thomas). Still be a strong lineup which I would hope at home should have enough to get through but one off game you never know. Crewe certainly seem to have turned things around from the last couple of years at least.
