Just read the article in their local rag and everything he says is spot on

Our Chairman actually told fans not to turn up to these games and followed that up by not offering price concessions, which usually happens. He also suggested we avoid Checkatrade as a brand.

We are out now and literally played the team we wanted, flouted the rules and paid the fine and move on.

Been a catastrophe and surely Checkatrade itself will want out of sponsorship sooner than later.

Now we are in knock out stages, attendences could be up a little bit , I know I'm not going tonight , but the glory hunters could well add a few to tonight's attendences

I'll take back what I said , we have tonight, our second lowest attendance ever for a competitive game , 1692 only beaten by us versus Darlington in the dark days of division 4 in the 80s.....134 from Luton :brill:

I don't get why any Brighton fans would go, apparently we took 92 to Yeovil, why? Who actually wanted to go to that?

134 too many. Especially after they fined us (and will do so again) for winning 75% of our matches in this competition.

I'm not sure Checkatrade really care - I think they take the attitude that any publicity is good publicity.
And I don't think your chairman should really be throwing stones re avoiding their brand.

Our fine got upheld?! Basically means you can be punished if you don't actually break the rules but do something they deem unsavoury, which is of course entirely subjective and arbitrary.

Cambridge tonight and I can't ever remember going to a game against them so it would have been a decent lure if it was still the JPT but I'll obviously be giving it a miss this time. Already said we will be playing 'a strong side' which is manager speak for people who sit on the bench most weeks.

We are out and I'm glad. Crowds have been lower than we get for county cup games in some cases. Surely the competition can't continue in this format?

Trouble is , it seems as managers and coaches like this format, so the football largue wI'll conlinue wIth it, they dnot gI've a damn if crowds a're crap and the fans are not happy, they want a tie in with the premier league, so when the championship becomes premier2, they will not be cast adrift

Do they?

Numerous clubs have been fined over both League one and two for showing the competition the contempt it thoroughly deserves. Some managers have even come and spoke out against it publicly. The only one I can recall saying they thought it was a good idea was the Stoke development coach and he would say that.

Do they though?
I know our manager doesn't and has said that he thought even more games due to the group format is a bad idea.
It is strange though how this got voted through by a majority of League 1 & 2 clubs and yet few people are prepared to put their head above the parapet and say that they actually voted for it and like it.
Fear of ridicule maybe.

Going back a couple of weeks, on the channel 5 football league show they were talking about the trophy and the reaction of the fans towards it , cannot recall who the manager's were on talking about it, but he said that he and many other managers were happy with the way it was formatted and happy to compete in it

Was it a championship manager? Would explain it.

Subbed someone off in the 23rd minute this evening. Genuinely interesting to see if this is deemed too soon by the FL...

Tonight's attendance at the Banks's is a record low of 925 ( including 71 Oldham supporters)
We did once have a lower attendance at Fellows Park - in 1945, during wartime.

Don't like this competition but any money we make from it could be significant with our current troubles. Trip to Mansfield next round is winnable.

So was lincoln
And Scunthorpe at home as well as Gillingham away were deemed unwinnable but we did okay there didn't we...

I know we are shit and all that but this constant negativity doesn't help towards anything. This is the one competition we have looked decent in so far so I will stick by my comments.
