Why's newcastle not comeing until next round? Am surprised this competition is going ahead. Did some idiot think a big premier league reserve side would bolster crowds

I don't think Newcastle Utd entered this competition in the end.

You wonder why people dont take too kindly to you with that sort of attitude.
You really are making a rod for your own back.

Not really.

I have only up until recently started to bite and abuse people, simply because I'm sick of being labelled something that I am not.

I signed up to the original forum as a 17 year old who took the piss, and even though I've matured into a reasonable contributor to OFF (IMO), I'm still being tarred by the same brush, of which is nigh on 8-9 years old now.

I'm glad these invited academies used the opportunity to bed in their youngsters against tough lower league opposition last night

Try as he might, the Bradford player can't resist the gravitational pull of Adam.

You never heard the old saying?
"Be nice to people on the way up, because you're gonna meet those same people on the way back down".
Sorry pal.....shit sticks. Deal with it.

That's all fine and dandy quoting cliches from the oracle book of life, but we're referring to a football forum.

Live and let go, or it becomes tedious. Allow that to become a cliche, and allow it to circle, also.

Ffs that's nearly as many as you get in league. Poor effort of a boycott
Like I said only a fiver in, otherwise we would have been on par with Fleetwood I'm sure.

Firthy, its not just on away figures, its on any game your team is playing against, on how many fans your going to take, how many tickets you've sold for such and such, but hey ho its your thing, you like numbers, and i've no problem with that, but on any thread , somehow you manage to bring attendences in to the conversation .!

Guys seriously this is like the most important threat facing all of our favourite clubs. Go chat about attendances elsewhere you're distracting from the issue.

Attendances are a huge part in this competition it's all about people not going to these game against the b sides to prove a point so for once attendances do actually matter cos if no one goes it will be scrapped

Agreed. I worded it very poorly - I meant all the personal bickering going on.

Attendances may only be couple of hundred down but clubs at home are not making money and only break even with the winning prize money

Usually clubs charge £15 or £10 now most charge £5.

1500 at £15 is £22500
1500 at £10 is £15000
1200 at £5 is £6000

And that is without me bothering with kids going down from £5 plus to just £1.

Break even if win, massive losses if not on last season

We have the attraction of Chelsea U23 this evening. Happy to report it looks like we should have a sub-1000 attendance.

According to that FA panel a year or so ago us lower league fans would rather play a man Utd reserve over a Hartlepool anyday.

Well since we finally see a lower league side playing an equivalent large club b side I am expecting Swindon should easily get 5,000 today.

I suppose Chelsea are the glamour tie in this comp so our attendance should show what fans really think of it. Regulars will not attend but there may be a number of plastics or kids badgering their parents to take them.

Either way the crowd will be pathetic.

Obviously won't be going tonight, but I bet a few kids will be pressuring their parents after seeing the big sign outside the stadium which reads 'Next opponents: Chelsea" not Chelsea U23, Chelsea DEV etc.

I think the Oxford Swindon game could hopefully be a chance to make our point - 9013 went to see the JPT fixture last year. Good to see no one here planning on going.

Attendance given as 1961. No fucking way. Nice win, though.

Good crowd.

That was the glamour tie which was supposed to show we'd all want to see a big clubs youth plus show the 'name' would bring out masses of armchair fans.

It didn't really do that much......so that is a positive

1961, is i think our lowest ever crowd in this competition, if im not mistaken. also reckon numbers were includimg stewards, bar and snack shop staff, ref and assistants , journalist and radio etc. etc etc.!!!!

Yeah that's a good effort by Swindon given its the closest thing to a 'glamour tie'

Not to mention a trifle confused. When asked about the absence of all the biggest teams, he says that it's not a problem because they don't produce any good players. In fact, most good players had time with an EFL club.

Isn't that exactly what the tournament was trying to kill?

Edit to say that he also states that two B teams getting to the final would probably mean the trial was unsuccessful. Time to support Chelsea B.
