It is nowhere near the old place. The former Wembley was without doubt a total dump but the first time i walked up them stairs and saw the pitch and stands it was a real experience of history. The new one is just the fat brother of the Emirates Stadium.
Remember my first visit when I was 17,England v Scotland.
The first peak of the Twin Towers from the tube carriage window will always stay with me.
Unfortunately, what a let down when you got inside.

The EFL Trophy has been great for Sutton. Our first win this season was against the Palace youngsters and our form since then has been remarkable. Also the £1500000 has been a godsend for the club.

You might want to check your numbers.

Which, in this strangest of seasons, probably gives us a fighting chance even though it's against a side who are considerably better than us.
I know, it’s weird but it was Sutton who were the one I didn’t want us to get.

Any reason why we have only been allocated 475 tickets when the away end hold double that?

Away end holds 1000, we have a set of condemned seats which are currently covered by a big green sponsorship tarp slap bang in the middle of the away end which has wrote off about 300 of them, I'd imagine 475 is the remaining away seats left in between that and the family stand, the other 300 seats I couldn't tell you the reason why they're not being used, other League 2 fans visiting have used them this season, can't imagine us putting home fans in there for this.

The novelty will soon wear off lads. Glorified training sessions
The only two times we could've played at Wembley we couldn't so this is another shot.

People are up for it cos we spent 4 years in that hellhole, doing respectably back here, the town hasn't had many good times and the club haven't had a lot to shout about down the years so yeah we'd love to get to Wembley.

The competition is shit but don't tell me Bristol Rovers would have 2000 there in a cup semi final. Most L2 clubs and players would be up for it at this stage.

Agree with this, everything that can be said about this cup has been said to death and I happen to agree it’s a farce having the PL yoof in it and has certainly devalued it as a competition.

We’ve basically had fuck all to celebrate at Pools in my lifetime (32 years) few promotions but the Playoff final win last season possibly the pinnacle of success, if you can’t get excited about being one game away from seeing your side play a Wembley final you may as well give up football and do something else with your Saturdays.

Hopefully Rotherham go into the game with the same mentality as the Gas fan above.

It is a farce of a competition with less prestige than the FA Trophy, but if you can’t get excited about a potential trip to Wembley as a lower league fan then you have my sympathy.

Currently on my way to Wigan. Travelling more in hope than expectation tbh.

To be fair on this it’s always been the case with this tournament that once you get to what used to be the area finals then the interest in attending rises massively. Even in the days pre the B teams being in the interest levels were never especially high back then either until that point. Always a little case of rose tinted glasses of what it was like before just in my opinion.

Good luck to both Hartlepool and Sutton getting to Wembley though. Would leave us as one of the few remaining in the 92 yet to play at the “new” one.

It’s probably like the league cup is for PL teams.

A distraction but when they get to Wembley or close to it they start to care .

Exactly this, Vale fans still reminisce over the 93 Autoglass and 01 LDV triumphs, ironically we took 25k to the Autoglass final and only half that to the Play Off final a week later! (all be it the Autoglass was the first ever visit to Wembley!)

If they make it I hope both Sutton and Hartlepool fans make the most of it as its rare to get those days out!

Sutton now going to penalties. You can see why they’ve been so successful this season. Just a really good unit, will take you a long way.

Hopefully for the Sutton fans on here they can win it.

Football is beautiful sometimes. I can’t believe it, really can’t believe it.

I thought we were well worth the draw over the 90 minutes, even if the last 15 we had our backs against the wall. But each of those players were heroic tonight.

And we still haven’t lost a game in this competition ever
