Well he did score last week...usually means you get a re-call.

Guess they needed someone to replace Chalobah too..

Imagine having Wilshere, Loftus-Cheek and Winks and picking Livermore instead.

The fact Winks hasn't been called up is a joke. We're so backwards in our selection. Trusted by Pochettino but not by Southgate

Honestly don't get the selection of Livermore he's a bottom half premier team player at best and it's not like he's early 20s with room for developing he is in his prime years.

Defoe is another pointless selection as well when he's never gonna get a game, might as well select someone like Solanke and give him the experience.

4 goal keepers selected as well what is the point seriously.

I don't consider Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole and Rooney as world-class players.
Well you should. Because they were.

England to go through if they avoid defeat tonight. I wish Scotland get close to 2nd also. Poor sods.

Can Lallana play as part of a midfield 2? We desperately need a player in there who’s good on the ball.

I think barring injuries, a front 4 of Rashford, Sterling, Alli and Kane is strong but we desperately need some quality behind them.

Abraham, Loftus Cheek and Gomez new names in squad.

Ashley Young also re-called.

Certainly is a young squad with some regulars dropped.

Some of our fans seem quite outraged that the likes of Loftus Cheek is in ahead of him but although he has done well for us clearly Tom wouldn't exactly be one for the future which most of the newly called up players are.

Good seeing Gomez called up, he's been steady as a rock for us this season. Hope he doesn't get injured with England though unlike Lallana and Hendo always seem to do.

Absolutely delighted for Gomez.

Almost every Charlton fan knew it would happen eventually from the first time he walked on the pitch for us, I didn't think it would be quite this soon though admittedly.

As long as Harry Winks is starting, that's all I care about. Need to give him a few games before the World Cup as he's the ideal fit for that CM spot going next to Dier or Henderson.

I can already envisage Southgate playing both of them in the WC though with Winks on the bench.

Can't understand the Young call up, he has been playing well for his club but will he be played in that position for England?

Much better selections this time apart from Young which is a bit pointless at his age but delighted he's gone with a few younger talent for the future this time.

Germany game we probably go 532 and if we do the team should be this imo.

Butland
Walker, Stones, Cahill, Jones, Rose
Henderson, Dier, Winks
Kane, Dele

4231 then

Butland
Walker, Stones, Cahill, Rose
Dier, Winks
Sterling, Dele, Rashford
Kane

Embarrassing from Southgate. Too pig-headed to call up Wilshere after backing himself into a corner.

I already hate this international break . My HSV just won last weekend for the 1st time in months and now we have to wait 2 weeks until the next match....bye bye momentum

it's a friendly so normally we don't care that much (although officially the DFB and Löw are saying something else. The usual phrases.... England, traditional match...yeah, yeah. But not 3 times in 1 1/2 years...boring). The media here takes not more notice as if we would play Kazakhstan (hey, hey. Why do I mention this country? ). Even the myth of Wembley is nothing to write home about. It's not the original one anymore.
So I wouldn't be surprised if we lose but wouldn't be suprised either if we win.

Alli out, Keane in makes perfect sense. :dk: Sterling, Delph and Henderson all "injured" now. Absolute joke. A genuine opportunity to test ourselves against two of the best teams in international football and they're too scared to let their club managers down. I think if players play at the weekend and then withdraw from international duty they should be forced to sit out their next club game.

In someways it might mean players will be picked with a point to prove rather than just going through the motions.

Have the Germans seen a lot of their players pull out?

Anyone would think Tottenham’s next game was a North London derby at the Emirates.

Why does Southgate not like Wilshere? :pond:He is still one of your best technical central midfielders.

Southgate has already spoken about this, saying why would he pick a player who can't get in the Arsenal team. Personally, I'd be giving Shelvey a crack. Has been in good form and other than that moment of madness on the opening day, he's made great strides forward sorting his temperament out. I make that 10 defenders in a 21 man squad now. While the players pretending to be injured should take the main share of blame here, Southgate has chosen such underwhelming replacements.
