No doubt some re-join civvy street still with paramilitary connections. How do I know? My Mrs' sister-in-law is Russian, and she had to do NS. Said it was grim for the blokes who were called up & didn't volunteer.
I for one would not even think about going over there for a re-match in 2018, unless I had a death-wish.

my brother-in-law is chechen and fought for two years in the chechen war for the russians ( they forced him to fight against his home 'country')

anyway:

as my wife was pregnant she was pushed in the sub by an random idiot ( i was at work at the time) he didnt even said sorry. 2 days later the guy (over 6 feet tall) was kneeing at our house entrance to plead for forgiveness with tears in his eyes. dont know what he have done with him but he was full of fear and have still no idea how he found him
