I wasn't making any comment on the benefits themselves, only that the article tried to articulate what the author perceived as benefits as Alty had suggested it was a negative article, and I disagreed.

I've had two Brexit leaflets, one of which particularly annoyed me as it set itself up as being impartial, but was actually from a Brexit group. The only remain stuff I had was from the government.
I haven't had anything from Brexit only the government leaflet which i sent back to Cameron at 10,Downing Street.

That's worrying from a leave campaign perspective. Apologies if I'm mistaken but you live in Somerset don't you Mowgs ? Which should be prime Brexit territory so I'm really surprised that you've not been inundated.
The whole leave campaign has become a bit ragged recently imo. Having Farage and Johnson so prominent seems to be backfiring a bit.

I live in Wells mate but have only seen remain posters in windows and not one leave, doesn't help that our Tory MP refuses to say which side he supports. I will have to contact the leave campaign office as i know a few like minded people who have had fook all as well.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.

Having the campaign spearheaded by a guffawing twat who most of the country think is a racist fuckwit, and a philandering boorish buffoon who happily spouts lies because all he really cares about it usurping Cameron to get into No 10, is backfiring?

Never mind. They've always got Michael 'fucked the education system, supports capital punishment and looks like fucking Pob' Gove, and Ian Duncan 'did his very best to make poor people suffer for ideological reasons before resigning on a blatantly untrue moral objection to buddy up to Johnson' Smith.

I'm sure the general public will be bang behind them. They obviously want what's best for everyone.

Presumably you feel better after posting that. It's a bit of a bollocks assessment though, isn't it?

Just to pick up one point from your rather rambling and confused post...Boris Johnson won the London Mayoralty twice. The next Tory that stood was very soundly beaten. The guy is obviously a little bit more than a "racist fuckwit" as he had appeal in a very large, very cosmopolitan and diverse city.

Ad hominem attacks, which usually betray lack of confidence in one's own arguments, are particularly unhelpful in this case given the mix of people on both sides. Some of the Remainers include George Osborne, Peter Mandelson, Tony Blair, Nick Clegg, David Cameron...how benevolent do we think these people's intentions are??

Anyway, polls narrowed again today apparently. Remain ahead by 1 point.

That better Silky?
Not a fan of them either?

The individuals who lead each campaign will be irrelevant and forgotten in a decade or so. Whereas the decision (whichever way) will be highly relevant for decade(s).

Are you suggesting I'm in some way supportive of these people? It's perfectly possible to have deep concerns about the EU without being a racist, bigot or rabid right winger. The leave campaign has left me dissapointed and if you've read any of my content you should know I despise Farage and his ilk.

According to what poll? I thought it'd be an easy win for remain but it seems to be getting too close for comfort now. I still think remain will win but not resoundingly enough to quash any talk of another referendum.

This one even has Brexit ahead by 3 points (as of 2 days ago). Most polls coming out now have it one way or the other by a very slim margin. Unless the polls are wrong like the GE, it's going to be very tight.
And whichever way it goes, the losing side is going to be a huge number of unhappy people.

I wasn't calling Johnson a racist fuckwit, although if I had been, I wouldn't have been the first. That was referring to Nigel. In fact, I wasn't calling anyone a racist fuckwit. I was suggesting that much of the population has that perception of him.

And chill out. I was only making the point based on the previous comment that having them as the heads of the campaign was faltering. Because that's how a lot of people see them.

It was meant to be referring to the overall Brexit campaign. I've altered it....

Both sides have some unpleasant characters arguing for them, unfortunately it's become quite like a Presidential race with various individuals clearly using it push their personal ambitions. In an ideal world we would be given the facts on a sheet before we vote, weigh them up and make our decision but this is just been one long exercise in hysteria.

You can want to stay in the EU for different reasons from Cameron and Osborne, and you can want to leave for different reasons from Johnson and Farage. Vote Leave does have a large part of its campaign seated on cloaked xenophobia though and it has deliberately orchestrated that to try and get popular appeal, and it appears to be working so god help us if they have to answer to these people.

Voted for post today, so am going to try to pretend this referendum campaign is on hold until election day.

It's getting close enough that I'm considering the options for emigrating to:

Scotland - Do I want to go through more referendums to escape Westminster's heavy hand?

Ireland - Can I stand the weather and the football?

Argentina - Wife's preferred option and I'm seeing the up side at the moment.

I've completed a postal ballot as I'm out of the country the Friday before the vote, so thankfully I can avoid the hysteria from both sides leading up to it:

I'm going to try and watch this ITV debate, but frankly I cannot stand to look at either of them, so I might end up watching Gavin and Stacey instead.

I think there's a large enough number of pillocks who don't actually care but are voting out on the sole basis of 'it'll stop the immigrants coming in and taking jobs in our once proud British kebab shops'.

So I doubt there will be too much uproar if the country remains in the EU because there's a large enough bunch of 'outers' who will have forgotten what they have voted for in the morning as they go back to reading The Sun bought from Ahmed's shop, whilst having a shite in a toilet cleaned by Pavel before going home to ring Nikos for their Friday night pizza.

I'll be voting leave but I can't help but feel so disillusioned with the whole referendum debate. It's been so full of bullshit, ad hominem attacks and lies from both sides. It's no wonder people are so disengaged and unenthused about politics. I've tried to avoid the whole debate altogether except Question Time. The whole thing has been an utter shambles.

The fact that Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage are on the same side as me is depressing but then is being on the same side as Tony Blair and David Cameron any better.

Will be very surprised if Brexit triumph though but without hope then we don't have anything.

Do you know who else ran off to Argentina after a plan for a pan-European mega-state didn't work out?
Our sympathies (and friends over there) hail from the descendants of those who ran off a few years earlier, with equal urgency, when it looked like it might.
