With the money he's been offered it's no surprise he's gone, also he must feel he can take Everton further than he can Southampton. Maybe that's down to the fact the board will back him more, we will have to wait and see. It certainly looks a sideways step at the minute but the potential right now with Everton is massive, we'll see by May if he made the right decision.

Wish we would make a few signings. August on Mon. Bids in for Stones and Lukaku and squads looking very light.
Don't want to be starting new season with players strangers to each other needing time to gel. Get them signed Ron!

Maybe the new owner hasn't got the pulling power with all his millions that was expected...

Or perhaps he doesn't have the millions he claimed he was going to spend in the first place.

Pretty strange that Everton have done nothing this summee, maybe gobbing off about how much cash they have wasn't the best idea and clubs are holding them to ransom. Oh and if Everton get £50M for Stones then they've got to take it, wasn't even starting every game last season.

Remember Everton fans saying their owners had more money than the Man City owners.....:fl:

So, Koeman update. Still early days so things will almost certainly improve, but things not looking that great to me. So far this season he's won 5 of 11 league games, and every one of those wins were against teams currently in the bottom half of the table, with 4 of them against teams in the bottom 6. They're currently on a run of 1 win in 7 in all competitions and, in the league, only have 2 points more after 11 games than they had at this stage last season. But given that they played City, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Arsenal in their first 10 games under Martinez last season, they've had a far easier start this campaign. Still, they have Swansea next.

Koeman needs time to make this his squad. They've got a lot of inconsistent players in cleverley, mirralas, deulofeu etc. Their squad is good enough for 7th/8th where they will finish, but no better. In finishing there he'll have improved on Martinez and given himself the time to sift out the average and bring in players of his own.

I just didn't get Koeman's business in the summer. Much is talked of about Steve Walsh after his success at Leicester, but £25m for Bolasie? £12m for a 32-year-old Williams, who's on a downward curve on his career? Plus a £30m bid for Sissoko for good measure.

Then there's the bizarre transfers of Stekelenburg being the only keeper brought in to the club, while Enner Valencia on loan was also bizarre for a club like Everton.

Ah well, slagging off Koeman certainly helps with today's result.

Walsh was responsible for Gueye and Bolasie. I'd say over the course of the season so far they've been good buys. I'd certainly have liked them at Leicester.

Was expensive I agree but he's the only player other than lukaku who has a go atm I think he is good player but never worth 25 million but as jj says that's the market

Being unbiased atm, I'd say there is a good player in Bolasie, but certainly not for the money you spunked on him in panic on the last day of the window. Probably could've got better value elsewhere imo.

Tbf you paid the same for Wijnaldum and I'll guarantee you Bolasie does more for Everton than Wij will for you. Right now he's head and shoulders above.

After 11 or so games what are you basing that on? They have one goal each so statistically pretty close. I haven't watched Everton too much but Bolasie doesn't have a good goal scoring history during his career-12 goals in four years with Palace. He's strong and fast without having a great end product , he can and has caused us problems in the past but "head and shoulders" better than Wijnaldum?
Wijnaldum has been quite effective in mf for us playing a more deeper role than he's used to.

I'm basing it on the fact that I'm not basing it on 11 games. But if we were then Bolasie is far more important to Everton than Wijnaldum is to Liverpool. Palace fans criticism of Bolasie generally stemmed from his greediness which I don't think he can take massive blame for given their strikers at the time and Newcastle fans criticism of Wij was generally that he only plays at home.
Notice you didn't mention assists. Convenient. Probably because Bolasie has twice the assists of Wijnaldum. And even on the solitary goals they have Bolasie scored the winner in a 2-1 win, Wij scored the 6th in a rout. So if you just take stats as numbers without context yeah they're even, but Bolasies turned 1 point into 3 and Wij gave a +1 on the gd.
Wij will be an important squad player for Liverpool. Bolasie will be an important starter for Everton. That's what I meant in terms of Harts favourite grooming product. Head and shoulders above Wij in importance to the team. I think he is now and I think it'll remain that way unless Wijnaldum can put himself in a position where Klopp feels he needs to play him every game, and I just don't see that happening.

Fair enough. I'll agree Bolasie is likely more important to Everton given they seem to have less depth than Lfc at the moment. They do play different roles tho and perhaps a comparison with Mane might be more realistic.

The comparison came about because people are talking about Bolasie being overpriced. Mane doesn't really come into it.

Is Bolasie overpriced compared to Mane?

Not necessarily. Mahrez is still a one season wonder (like many other leicester players) imo.
