Who are your remaining five?
West Brom, Derby, Middlesborough, Bolton and Forest Green (Which I will be doing next month).

Bolton I hope to do next year.........................The other 3 if I ever get a free Saturday and have the time to go to them if they're at home.

Personally that was my best ever day supporting the Vale! Proud as punch right now and that Pope goal will stay with me to the day I die. Might sound cringey and sad as fuck but when you’ve been supporting your club through the dark days for the majority of your life, that 5 minutes or so when Pope scored was worth it all. Just hope I could relive that in a play off final or something similar.

We had a shitty night, my brother was saying he wasn’t feeling well as we walked up to the ground.
He collapsed just outside, we now know he had a stroke.
The Man City stewards and coppers were brilliant and we were in hospital 20 mins later.
He’s doing ok.
He kept saying sorry to us, fucking heartbreaking.
Glad we didn’t get totally smashed.
Cracking goal for popey.

That’s really sad to hear. Hope he makes a full recovery. Please pass on best wishes from the football community.

Just home myself, what a long day. Looking forward to the replay

I always want the team who knocks us out to go on and win the cup, so hope you can do em in the replay.

Been a long time since you last won a major trophy, so good time to change that now it's a new decade.

All the best to your brother Randolph.

I'm not sure some of our fans realise quite how big today match is for our club. The last time we were up in the 3rd round was 11 years ago. We've got a winnable tie at home, and IF we can win it will be very profitable for the club, even more so if we can draw a plumb draw on the next round.

The exposure we’ve had from this tie has been immense, mainly by Tom Pope’s tweet in June then backing it up scoring... then tweeting further bants about making it 50...

Even papers in Switzerland and Denmark are talking about it! All good fun though! Apparently Mendy was waiting outside the Vale dressing room to get a selfie with Pope for the Man City WhatsApp group as they’ve been ripping Stones over it.

Some City fans are being a bit mardy about it as it’s just humour and something we’ve all said about England players at one time or another not knowing he’d actually get to do it!

What I would say is their football is very “safe” at times I expected them to hammer us on the break but it’s all slowly built moves which allowed us to get into shape most times.

I genuinely feared a record defeat or something and most on here were expecting it so worked out a decent exercise; made loads of money; lots of exposure; day out, only lost by 3 and had the moment we dreamed off when Pope scores at 1-0.

Crucial now we build on this and try and have a real go in the league and hopefully push on over the next 18 months. We’ve lost sight a bit of the league with the distraction of this game.

Hallam Hope wasteful near the end on a few occasions.

Three golden opportunities to win it for us close to the end. Would have been something special to win after losing a two-goal lead but I feared the worst when they scored two in quick succession and we did well to shore things up.

Scougall had a shot blocked from a few yards out, but it looked fairly soft to me, like if he'd really blasted it, would have gone in.

Can't actually remember Hope shooting wide, though it was mentioned in the BBC match report. My main memory is when we broke 3 on 2 at the end and seemed bound to score if Hope could just slide it to one of the players either side of him, yet he passed it straight into the path of a defender.

The other chance I remember is Ryan Loft, getting a decent opportunity and dragging it well well wide. In that latter stage of the match I think we were just focused on seeing the game out and got a bit light-headed on the occasions we found ourselves with a chance to score.

Can't see them putting out a stronger squad for the replay, I believe the squad they did put out wasn't far off full strength and the midweek match at Brunton Park is their worst nightmare. I get the feeling looking at their forum that some of them would rather have just got beat.

No one can say Carlisle are Hope-less so the replay at Brunton should be interesting. Probably be on the box I suspect.

It's the hope that kills you.....

Fair play to Northampton, fantastic effort from them away to a higher division team.

Seems like a credible effort from Crewe also. Overall I think all the L2 teams involved this weekend have represented this level pretty well in their own ways.

Can't deny I'm disappointed. Thought we might do a bit better. The performance sounds respectable, but when you're ending the game with your top creator subbed off, you top scorer out injured and you're best midfielder stuck in defence, it's going to be hard to get back into the game. I'd have liked a longer run, but the 3rd round for the first time in over a decade is acceptable.

Now to fully concentrate on the league, starting with the promotion 6 pointer next weekend.

Well done cobblers on beating us.
That first half performance was the worst I have seen from us in over 5 years. It was shambolic. Even worse than in the championship getting dicked most weeks.
No complaints today. Hope u get a good draw in round 4 to make it worthwhile.
Back to the league now for us and amazingly we are only 3 points off the play offs because today we looked a bottom 3 side.

Oh for fuck sake, don't tell me your lot are recycling that shit chant. No originality these days.

Think I'll be joining you in spewing up if I hear any more versions of the same fucking chants at every fucking ground.

Is that even a chant? Can’t say I’ve ever heard it but then again I can’t remember the last time we won an FA Cup tie!

Well done Cobblers. A pity I chose to watch the Crewe game instead, though they did give it a good go. Barnsley may be struggling at the mo but they're still a second tier club after all and we all know the massive difference in class between the two divisions. Though of course Carlisle may beg to differ.

Good job by Vale as well, limiting City to just the four goals.

edit -oops, well done to Carlisle too for earning a replay.

Thanks all, he’s a lot better today.
None of you lot know me or us, and I appreciate the best wishes.
Life is shitty sometimes.

If he’s a lot better today than that’s great Randolph. Stroke recovery is all down to how they recover at the start so if he’s a lot better then that’s fantastic
