Barnsley at home for us, shaping to be an interesting game. They have a relegation 6 pointer against Huddersfield next weekend so might rest a couple. I'd like to think we can give them a game, just want to avoid a replay. Would rather lose than draw.

Fat Norman will no doubt be drinking his wine and watching the game. Probably get drunk and phone in praise and grumble begging the fans to take him back. Dickhead!

So glad this has happened now he’s gone and can’t get his sausage fingers on the proceeds! Even more happy that it’s happened under the Shanahan’s who are genuinely lovely people and saved our football club!

I’d like a corner, a couple of shots on target and every single player to give 100% and nothing less. I’d love a bloody goal!

I hope we go and get at them/press them a bit and not try sit off scared of them. Oxford got at them early and they didn’t like it. I also think if they play the two young centre halves then we could grab a goal as they won’t be used to playing against Pope and his pub side style of football. I can’t see them fancying the battle against him tbh.

I can speak from experience here Vale fans, after we went to the eithiad last season in the semis of the cup.
The day started wrong when my flight was delayed back from Poland so I got back later.
Then, 2500 of our 4500 fans got stuck in Stoke on the m6 thanks to some illegals running out of a lorry near keele services. Thankfully I dodged that. Not so lucky for others who missed the first half.
Or maybe they where lucky.
1.0 down after 5 mins. We then went up the other end and somehow contrived to blaze over the bar when it was easier to score.
Then they scored another 8 rendering the second leg pointless.
I really hope u enjoy the day Vale fans but to say u do not care about the score is not strictly true.. No one wants to get dicked, and I did not enjoy that one bit.

You can’t care about it really as we could play the game of our lives and still lose 5-6-7 they cost over a billion quid, we are trying to cobble a few grand together to keep Taylor, Sterling probably earns our clubs wage budget for the year in less than a month.

Of course I hope we keep it down but the fact is we still win... we have a day out, and the most important thing (and this is the sad fact of modern football) is the money we will make which should allow us to keep our progression under the new owners and help us if not this season certainly next have the finance to push ourselves into a big force again at this level.

We’ve actually won 2 of our last 3 visits to City and our win over Huddersfield kept us up and sent them down 22 years ago so we know what the reality is without the billions... dare say most of their fans tomorrow won’t even know that part of our role in their past.

Overall it’s a celebration as Dave rightly says of the new ownership and era and positive vibes at the club. Stevenage from a football perspective matters far more next Saturday. Tomorrow football wise is just letting the boys have a day tearing themselves against the best.

Yeah i think a lot where looking at those blocks when booking... think its sold out pretty much now overall which is great for the coffers especially if City do give us the full percentage of takings as they apparently tend to.

Demand has been crazy for this, but the first real big Saturday prem opponent since Villa in 2006 so a good 12 years (took 8k then almost)
7908 is what we took to villa I'm a sad bastard and remember the exact followings. Villas ground was nowhere near full either so glad city have pretty much sold out.

No think Villa had around 31000 when we went maybe?

Cardiff fans seem to have mixed views on the match, they were beaten heavily in their last game and their next game is against Swansea so they have other things on their mind and are expecting to see quite a weakened team put out tomorrow.

After the Pope twitter incident where he claimed he would get 40 goals if he came up against him and that he was weak as piss and wear John Stones like a Johnny a few months back, Pep has confirmed Stones will play tomorrow... could be spicey!!!

Vale 40/1. Got to be worth a flutter with the team Citeh are likely to put out.

Only two youngsters trained with the first time, Bellis and Doyle so apart from them they are expecting the Holy War.... Jesus v Pope but likely one that should chuck us around like a rag doll.

If by flutter you mean fluttering money down the drain then yeah it’s worth backing Vale at 40/1.

City away is the only game I’d definitely not go to if we got them in the cup. 90 minutes of pure humiliation and zero chance of an upset. I honestly would be more confident going to Anfield. It’s the way pep’s teams play, particularly at the Etihad, they move lower league teams around for fun like they did to Burton, Rotherham etc in recent years.

I hope they don’t but I think if they are in the mood they could put about 10 past Port Vale.

Love it if Vale scored - preferably first. Good luck, mon Amis!

Can imagine the limbs.... then a five minute wait to see if all in vain as we wait for Mike Dean to conduct his VAR check!

If they do we won’t care one bit! It’s all about the atmosphere and £££££s I cant wait!

Askey saying we are not going to park the bus and be boring and may as well have a go so could be more than 10!

Ultimately the gap in leagues is so vast, one of the best at this level this season played at home to one of the worst Prem sides and still got spanked 6-1 for example... if the Prem side wants it whoever it is at this level will take a beasting so no point worrying or being despondent with it.

£££’s yeah I get that, but I think if it’s 5-0 after half an hour it would put a bit of a dampener on the atmosphere. Unless of course 80% of your support couldn’t give a fuck about Vale and are only there to see their heroes in blue then I guess that will enhance the atmosphere

Aye, all I’ve seen of VAR this season has convinced me I’m not a fan. Can just see us bundling one in the net then getting chalked off as Bennett’s weird shaped elbow is offside.

I think in all seriousness though the fact 99.9% are going there expecting an absolute drubbing means the atmosphere will be buzzing regardless. If we’d gone someone like Villa or Newcastle and had that “well we might just get a result” at the back of our minds and got battered then yeah it would be a bit flat. But City is unwinnable so accepted that seconds after the draw! If we got a result it would be the greatest shock in the history of the FA Cup.

No reason why you can't win tomorrow, you're flying and we're bottom with one away win all season. As you say, I think we'll have a fair few fringe players on the pitch staking their claim - our current team hasn't been rotated much under Struber and they'll be knackered after the Christmas period. I'm looking forward to it though and like you would rather we just won or lost one way or another, can't be bothered with a replay.

Best of luck to each League 2 club today. And if Port Vale keep it down to less than 5 then well done!

Good luck Vale (and other L2 clubs over the weekend), I'm sure you'll enjoy it all regardless but hope you get a goal to celebrate! Briefly equalising at Stamford Bridge back in the day was brilliant and unforgettable despite it ending 6-1 (bloody Shevchenko's dive cost us dearly...).

A few years ago I remember Swansea had a third round game at home to someone in League 1 or 2 and had 5k there. The South Wales clubs are generally shite draws these days which is a shame as they are good football cities.

2-0 up at half time. Its been backs against the wall for long spells and there was a great chance at 1-0 Cardiff fluffed but we've created the best chances and taken them well.

The penalty was awful but fortunately the save was poor and just pushed out for bridge to head in the rebound
