I don't like homophobic comments, but in a strange way, Mark is right. Just like all non-homophobic straight guys, I too have gay friends and they all lecture me to take it easy with 'all this pc nonsense' - their words not mine. Same thing with female friends too. I try my best to be polite, and the response I get is usually something like 'oh grow up' or 'please don't be too sensitive'.
So, I'm thinking they are mature and simply don't feel insulted, which is easy to understand after all. For instance, I get a lot of comments from my mates regarding my views on vegetarianism and I don't feel insulted.
However, refraining from such comments is always the best option, though personally I think that sometimes we take it too far with this pc'ness.
