Millwall were better than us in every department front to back today. 11 changes from us shows the level of disinterest our club appears to have towards the cups, and that appears to filter through to the players. Even pretty regular first teamers like Pugh, Surman etc looked pretty clueless. Let alone Grabban/M.Wilson/B.Smith and other reserves who now cannot moan about game time.

Credit Millwall. Howe will have to think on the complete lack of motivation or quality beyond the first 15 or so players.

Reasonable performance from us today. Burton only really threatened for the first 20 minuites if the 2nd half but even then they didn't have any really clear cut opportunities.

Good performance from some of our youngsters which is good as we had yet another injury today.

Never realised Burton hated Derby so much???

How good do Preston look here? More than been the better side against Arsenal, let's hope they can finish the job in the second half.

Nice to see some of our younger players put in a good display with Mason creating and Sinclaur scoring a goal.

Compared to our League cup record our FA Cup performances are pretty decent against lower league sides.

Probably jinxed it!

Worst possible start to the second half by Preston

That was a disgrace from Bournemouth today, from the selection to the performance. I'd be livid as a Cherries' fan being ripped off like that. Then again, I've read your forum and there's far too many people justifying it... forgotten where they came from I suppose. Seems it's a bigger achievement to finish 14th than actually win something these days. Fuck the Premier League man.

They did it in the championship when I think they played Liverpool and they changed the team and lost by quite a few I think.

I think Stoke and West Brom has strong sides out so fair play to Wolves/Derby for winning.

Agree about Bournemouth - the next stage for them must be to have a cup run...

What I will say is that it's served us pretty well in recent years. Quarter final of the league cup and 5th round of the FA cup the last two years... not headline earning but when compared to our very modest history that's as far as we've ever got on cup comps.

Still, we made 11 changes today and we're deservedly beaten. What we have learnt is that our reserves who are asking for game time just aren't up to the standard required.

There is the rub. You've got a squad of players, which is there to be utililsed. Players should be ready and comfortable to give their all. They are in the squad because you'd presume they are of a desired standard.
You'd expect a second string to be able to go to a League One side and put in a shift and get a result, even if it's just a draw.
It's an opportunity to show the gaffer that you want a shirt in that first team. Those players either weren't up to it, or aren't upto it. If they haven't played together before yesterday, then something is wrong.
On that basis, Howe will know who he can rely on from now on in. We had a similar disasterous result at Accrington Stanley in the League Cup. We fielded a reserve side and lost. We certainly found out that day who will and won't be getting even on the bench.

We've been making 11 changes for cup games for a good few seasons now, since we've had the finances to build a 20 odd man squad at least. So I went yesterday in full knowledge of what the side would likely look like.

But in the past, the backup 11 when played has really given us something to think about. And players from the backup 11 have since found their way into the first 11. Gosling, Stanislas, A.Smith to name a few. In previous years the backup side played with a visible shape and game plan and with visible motivation.

Somthing has gone wrong with the way the backup 11 always mirrored the first 11's formation and playing patterns. That's down I assume to the training ground. So Howe takes some stick there.

That lot yesterday (same lot defeated by Preston in the league up) as expensive as they were to put together, had zero idea what was going on, who each other was, what the plan was. And besides Mings and one or two others, didn't look like they gave a shit. They were bad against Preston and deserved to lose, but they were given another chance and were fucking criminal yesterday.

If it's not the Premier League live on Sky, it's not worth any effort? Is that the sort of players/egos/attitudes we're dealing with now?

This is the most horrific game of football I've ever seen
Plymouth have absolutely no ambition and couldn't be any more negative. Those fans deserve so much more for travelling that distance than a gutless show their players are putting in.
Liverpool need a massive kick up the arse for not putting this game away

No if youse get punted Salty.
So be it, still looking good in the EFL Cup or whatever its called, and amongst it in the league, so wouldn't be a disaster being eliminated this early in the FA Cup.

Had to check the result. Never know if they've won or lost when they're walking home past our house. I once saw a Liverpool fan with a face like a slapped arse and asked how many they'd lost by. Turned out they won 4-0.

If that was under Hodgson's tenure I could understand that tbh :D

Been much better if they'd thrown men forward and lost 3-0...
