FFS - WHAT A WANK DRAW

Not so sure- great chance to progress against L1 opposition. Over 3,000 away fans can be accommodated and Donnie isn't too far from Oldham.

Big away day at Old Trafford etc would be nice but guarantees a loss- now you have a good chance of 5th round.

I'd be happy with that one if we'd got through

What a terrible draw that is.

Not just for Oldham and Newport but also generally.

Think Oldham is a good draw- Gillingham and Newport less so.

Oldham have a good chance of progression- big away end will take over 3,000. Not far to travel.

Would have been more than happy with an away day in Donnie if we'd made it through

Quality from this Palace fan trying to troll the fans of a League 2 club whose 10 men his team had just absolutely trounced 1-0.

They’re from Croydon, which is a law unto itself. Weird, space-age city of the 60s place...

Bizarre- really bizarre.

As an aside, were there any issues at the ground or outside? Palace aren't known for being the friendliest bunch towards away fans.

Mind you, YTtm mother won't know he's still up

Haven’t heard of any trouble, my lad went and he said both sets of fans were mixing ok with no bother, although he said some Palace fans in the bit behind the goal to their right were taunting them at the end trying to get a reaction. :ffs:

No, lets have it right, it's a wank draw.

For a start, it's the 4th time in 7 seasons we've drawn them in the FA Cup. Ridiculous.

Here's the recent head-to-head. https://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=1924&team2_id=800&teamTabs=h2h

Both forums are full of people going PLEEEASE not Oldham/Doncaster, it's a bit funny honestly.

Funny how certain clubs seem to be magnetised to each other. The amount of times we've drawn peterborough in the fa cup since about 2004 is just stupid when you consider the sheer number of other teams we could have drawn in those earlier rounds. Always the fa cup as well, nothing else. We didn't even qualify for a few seasons while in the conference, but who was waiting for us in the first round when we finally did? Yep, those tossbags. And what was the score? 5-0 to them as usual.

The one positive to take from losing 7-0 to spurs was at least it wasn't peterborough again.

Yep, been there done that. Seen us lose to them when they had Lineker, Gazza, et al too.
Yeah that was after we’d beaten Villa in the round before, I remember Gordon Durie ran us ragged that night while Linekar got himself a couple of tap ins, although I was only a kid so it might not have happened exactly how I remember it.

Does it even work like that? I mean, every year fans get giddy about 'oh, that coulda been us' don't the numbers change so Grimsby would've been placed differently in the draw? Or does that stop after R3?

Yeah, I don't think it does. Have never fully understood the numbering system.

I seem to think that after the 3rd round each pairing is already allocated a number for the next round, for example the first 2 teams drawn to face each other in round 3, the winner of that tie will be ball number 1 in round 4, the 3rd and 4th teams drawn will be ball number 2 etc.
I think so anyway, but I wouldn’t put my mortgage on it.

Edit: scrap that I’ve just just found it, that only comes in at the quarter finals, so yeah we’d have had a different number alphabetically had we won and not got Spurs anyway.

Wait no, that must be garbage as well because these are the 4th round draw numbers and they’re obviously not in alphabetical order so it must be as id originally thought, they must’ve changed it so it does it now from well before the quarter finals.

So we would’ve got Spurs then.

............. I think. :dk:

Yes it does work like that hence if we had bothered to have a defence against Blackpool we would have gone on to play Arsenal and now Man United.

No they wouldn't have.

The draw numbers for round two are based on when the tie is drawn in the 1st round - for example if Bury v Cheltenham is drawn out first the winners are ball 1 in round 2.

For round 3 - the Prem and Champ teams are 1-44 in alphabetical order, then tie 1 of round 2 becomes ball 45, tie 2 ball 46, etc...

Ergo, Exeter would have been the same ball number in round 3 as the team that beat them in round 1.

I explained it once here:

In short - Round 1 the Leagues 1 and 2 clubs are balls 1-48, then the non-league clubs are from where they were drawn in the qualifiers.

Round 2 they are numbered as per the tie they were in Round 1.

Round 3 - Premier and Championship clubs are 1-44 and 45-64 are in tie order from Round 2 (number 45 would be the winner of the first drawn teams in round 2).

Round 4 and onwards to the final are then based purely on when they were drawn in the previous round - so in round 5 Palace or Spurs will be ball 16.

There is a £250,000 bonus on offer for the last League 2 team left in the FA Cup. which is split if we both go out at the same stage.

Does that mean that Newport get the £250k or do they have to win the replay. If they lose that then surely they haven’t got any further?

Don’t think so. Small print states that if remaining teams go out at the same “stage” then the cash is shared. The replay is still stage / round 4 if you ask me but don’t know for sure. Anyway it’s at least £125k so huge financial boost for us. Cup run so far has probably brought in about £800k. Beat Boro on TV in next round and you can add another £300k to that.

Replay will be on the box I would think? Can see you winning it tbh, superb run again this season. How do you do it?
