The thing I don't like about it is the rules for our cup tie were different to others. If this happened at a game without VAR it would have stayed a yellow. I know it's still on trial but trial it at all the Cup games now just a few.

Secondly the ref played on, what happens if we won the ball back after the advantage and then score a goal in which Fox got an assist or even scored. Do we go back several minutes because VAR rules Fox should been sent off a minute earlier? How far do we go back, what if the ball didn't go out of play for 5 minutes before we somehow score?

Where does VAR blur the lines between black and white, of the ref playing on with the intention of giving Fox a yellow the next time the ball goes out of play?

What was the ref playing at that though? The challenge was quite blatantly a red - though felt sorry for the lad. VAR shouldn’t have had to needed to correct that in the first place. It’s good it’s in place.

I don’t get refs who don’t give reds or bookings as it’s “early in the game” if it’s a red after 10 seconds it’s a red, however unfortunate.

What’s the experience like in the crowd? Did you have any idea what was going on?

I like how in cricket for instance the crowd can hear the umpire speaking to the match official etc

I did because I saw the ref make the TV sign, however I had no idea he hadn't asked for a VAR viewing, afterwards it's obvious someone says something in his ear, as he makes the TV sign and immediately gives red. Not makes the TV sign to have it reviewed first.

Others around me weren't though, some assumed Fox had mouthed off at the ref to make him change his decision. So unless you saw the ref you would have no idea what happened.

Another reason why it's so bad, not read it yet, but I hear there was some confusion at Man U over VAR as well

Just watched it, a ridiculous attempt at a challenge but he hardly touched him.

I'm against VAR and always will be, it doesn't work for me. So the play carried on there for a bit after the tackle while they looked at it but what if Fox went and scored a goal 10 seconds later? Does the goal get cancelled out because he gets sent off? I can't have it, it's farcical.

It also takes away that split second buzz of celebrating a goal, as in the back of your mind you're always thinking they'll bring it back for something that's gone on in the build up.

Edit: Basically what Freelaf has said above..

There was a bit of an odd one at Burnley versus Barnsley, particularly in the timing!

If VAR is going to happen, we should absolutely be able to hear what the officials are discussing, both on television and in the ground. Also probably just keep it to goal decisions, ie offsides or goal line checks. There's no need for the entire game to be ruled by it.

That was farcial. Running up to take the pen and the ref then gives an offside, How was he even effecting the play aswell? It’s bollocks, I thought VAR was meant to be only used if it’s 100%.

I thought it was for clear and obvious mistakes. Who defines what is and isn't is anyone's guess. Never seen anything like it, he was literally running up to take the pen. The guy who I'm assuming they gave it against looked about an inch offside. Hardly clear and obvious.

That moment at work last night when I refreshed Twitter on 85 mins, and the next thing I saw was ‘Goal’ but not written as ’GOOOAAALLLL’ was a truly sickening feeling.

Take that at half time. Looks like Fulham are dominating without actually doing anything. If we can frustrate them a little longer and get Tue home fans to turn we might be onto something

well played Oldham. Hopefully you'll all be on the piss for the whole week celebrating this epic win and getting drawn away at City or someone.

Well done Oldham. Terrific result. We were beaten at Fulham in the league cup. Had chances but didn't take them. Sounds like you did.
Hope you get a decent tie in the next round. You'll probably get Barnet though...

Absolutely. Spurs, City and Liverpool are in a completely different class to teams like Everton and Palace.

Congratulations to Oldham.

I thought in the VAR situations the ref had to look at the video screen himself so they made the decision themselves.

I know in the World Cup, the ref went off to look at the video.
