Is it just me that doesn’t get why Sunderland would be massive home draw?

Obviously big club well below their natural level but it’s hardly an awe inspiring tie?

If Bury had have drawn Sunderland in the 3rd round at home last season I wouldn’t be getting overly excited... we played them in the league cup last season crowd was about 3,000 with 800 Mackems.

FA Cup is different, we’ve a massive away end so can really take advantage of that and is as attractive as you get in the 1st round. Got the place buzzing as we will get a rare full away end and big atmosphere.

Playing in front of 100 Away fans compared to that is chalk and cheese. Plus a club 18 month ago in the Premiership, it’s essentially a winnable tie against a massive club with them being L1.

Oops sorry admin. I opened another thread based on the round but 'neebother'...

Notts are away at Barnsley and with our form, tendancy to give the ball away in bad areas and a side so unbalanced it looks awful on paper.

I have a feeling we'll lose 3 or 4 nil but this is exactly the type of game Notts could surprise as we have so many times in the past, Middlesborough and Sunderland to name a couple.
Can't see much money being put on Notts but BTTS could be ok I suppose.

Nice break this from our season long promotion push , should be relaxed and play a beautiful open counter attacking game . Can easy see a 4-1 scoreline here

Guiseley away on Sunday for us. While they can’t be taken lightly, we need to be beating these. I expect to be in the second round hat.

Dover at home. I think they’ve won 2 games all season.. what could possibly go wrong?

I'll be taking in City at home tomorrow (Josh Simpson should be making his 3rd debut for them) before heading up to Wharfedale on Sunday. We have games Sunday/Tuesday/Saturday so would like to see us qualify unscathed and with something in reserve. However that's not the U's way. At least Paul Cox has moved on.

We'll be fielding our strongest team and bench, looking for a fast start and aiming to remove any motivation for BBC to feature us much on their extended highlights.

I'll be keeping an eye out for dogs in fancy dress amongst the tinfoil trophies. I suspect the only half-and half scarves on show will feature ManUre.

Sunderland on Sunday in front of the TV cameras, looking forward to it, no pressure, decent crowd and no stress of the league games.

Be very tough they’ve won six in a row but they may rest a few. Hoping for a positive result.

Absolutely spot on UTS.
Made this very point on our site. A lot of excitement over nothing. Turns out they have sold about 1700 , maybe 6500 crowd.
People suggesting 10'000 needed locking up in a dark room.
The FA Cup is dying on it's feet and has been for years, also this is Round One , not the 3rd or 4th round.
Sunderland are undoubtedly the biggest fish you could draw in the opening 2 rounds but has it grabbed me by the balls as a WOW game, nope !!!

Just a first round tie in front of a few extra fans, the only bonus is the TV cash which none of which will be invested in the team anyway.

Expect Sunderland to treat the game with the contempt other teams do and rest 5 or 6 as they have bigger fish to fry such as promotion back to the Championship.

I hope we rest some of the squad tomorrow against Grimsby and play the likes of Hancox, Baudry (if fit), Watson, Thomas-Asante and Asongyani.
Doesn’t sound like we will. I’m not sure it’s necessary either with a Checkatrade game on Tuesday for those who need the game time to get it. There’s also an FA Youth Cup game on Monday so doubt we’ll see any of those players involved in either game.

Expect the usual line up with maybe one or two changes. JM-T must be a doubt, mind.

Already resigned to defeat tomorrow. CBA to go. Anyone want to bring their league game with us forward to the next round day?

What could be better after 3 defeats on the bounce than a glamour tie at home to MK fucking Dons.

Really struggling to hide my excitement for this one, and the 2000 - 2500 fans that turn up should be in for an absolute treat.

Thought the BBC 2 game tonight was bloody awful; glad the real Wimbledon won (just); now it's our job to stop the franchised tossers from progressing (sadly not likely).

Hello! This is Swindon we’re talking about. Perennial FA Cup losers to lower opposition.

You going ID? I’m going, everthing points to a lousy home defeat.

York and FGR double pays about 35/1. Looks worth a couple of quid.

I hope we do play a strong side as we’re on a decent run at the moment, keeping that going and building some confidence is key to our league form continuing in my opinion. Ideally I’d like to see us play our strongest side, get a couple of goals up and then bring on the likes of Lewis, Davies and Osadebe to rest a few.

My Saturday is going to be wanderinb round to Fulbourn rec to see the Football team v Cricket team rememberance game. That and a couple of pints while watching will do me nicely today.

Yes it was awful. I switched over to HIGNFY and went back and saw the winner in the 89th.
Is it me though, or are all games on plastic just awful spectacles?

Sincerely hope that we don't let you down. From experience whenever we play Oxford we either look like a team who could beat the World, or one that couldn't beat an egg...not sure which team will turn up today but I am hopeful that the best squad of players we have ever assembled will return victorious.

Not really one for being able to predict results accurately, but on this instance I am going for our favorite scoreline this season - 1-1

No changes whatsoever which surprises me, but it’s definitely boosted our chances of going through.

Good. Lets see if we can get to the 3rd round and hopefully a money making tie. We SHOULD have enough in the locker for a good go at promotion and at least make an effort at the FA cup early rounds.

Brilliant. We take an 8th minute lead at home to a National League North team...then go in 1-2 down at HT.
