It's not the game that is null and void (it happened), it's just the result (because that was what was affected by the cock-up) - that's how I understand it anyway. It was the same when the non-leagues were scrapped cos of Covid - the results meant nothing, but all suspensions and fines, goal bonuses etc remained because it all happened. If a player had punched the ref in the Exeter game, would you expect his ban not to happen because it was 'null and void'?
I think that this is the best and correct answer. It is a long time since I have reffed, but I am pretty sure you have hit the nail on the head here Re the result.

Disgusting that no Exeter fans are offering free room and board for the trip

Scum.
Happy to put up a tent in the back garden if required.
Even throw in a black pudding for breakfast, and some dog treats for the whippet.
Any takers?

Haven't heard of him being suspended but I haven't checked myself, you're the first one to bring it to my attention to be honest.

I think the yellows should absolutely stand. The goals are taken off as the result didn't happen, but the players are booked because of their behaviour which can lead to injuries etc, the player they fouled still remains injured/hurt, so the punishment should also remain. You cannot null and void every aspect of it, it's just the result. Fatigue doesn't go away, injuries don't, and neither should the cards IMO. If all 4 of our yellow cards we got lead to 4 injuries to Bradford players and they were now out for weeks/months, how is it fair none of our players keep their yellow cards for example?
Cards from friendly matches don't carry over though. It's a physical game and injuries happen. Getting a booking isn't like a moral failing, I'm totally OK with fouls in games that don't count going unpunished, except in cases like I said, if violent conduct.

I still don’t get why it’s replayed though.

If mansfield tried to bring 7 subs on tomorrow it’s upto match day officials to police it, like they would do the game.

If more than the allocated subs have entered the pitch it’s the fault of the officials for it to happen so therefore their fault. That the bradford CEO (who clearly appears to like his pies from the pictures) to claim it’s astonishing there is a replay is astonoshing himself, does he not understand football?

Personally i find it bizarre it’s a replay in the first place, but whatever it’s another game for them to play which benefits neither side.

If either club feels that strongly about a replay they can always forfeit.

I'm quite happy to replay it, I wasn't that excited about this game with the winners going to Cambridge. But no way should we throw it, with prize money and the potential if we should get to the third round.
We were going to play on the 30th anyway, in the Pizza Cup against Pompey. I'd happily forfeit that instead.

This thread will be a joy to read when the Exeter/Bradford game is 0-0 at 90 mins again in the replay

Neither our owner or CEO have a football background or know the first thing about it tbh, it’s why we’re now mid table league 2 fodder instead of fighting for it already in the championship. Only Scunthorpe have dropped more places that us in English professional football since our owner took over in 2016. A big part of the reason our crowds away and in cup games have taken a hit as there’s a big lack of interest at the club, it doesn’t get noticed from the outside though as we haven’t done a Charlton or Blackpool and gone full boycott. The CEO he hired was a cheap option who used to handle the Twitter account and came from Rugby League.

That's our share of the profits.

What about Bradford's share?

Surely that CEO will do something similar if exeter have done something, given how he came across after the original replay he clearly needs to recover ground from his embarrassing comments.

He sounded like he’d never been involved in football ever.

not a shoddy following.

I’m sure the day we play our part in something so dumb that it forces a game to be replayed, that we too will make such a charitable (definitely not a good PR/gloss over attempt) donation. No doubt any money we have made will be spent on getting us to Devon and back all over again.

Do you understand the concept of travelling expenses being deducted from the profits?
Its not a PR 'gloss over attempt at all either. We could quite easily have kept the money for ourselves but that would be morally wrong.

Of course you can't win.

your expenses would be covered but clearly it’s well established it’s not exeter’s fault either, which had been clearly established

Gonna look a bit silly really when Exeter put 5 or 6 past us on Tuesday night.

Looking forward to this replay of the replay. Shame about the ridiculous circumstances. A bitterly cold night with whoever wants it the most scraping it
