I think that this is the best and correct answer. It is a long time since I have reffed, but I am pretty sure you have hit the nail on the head here Re the result.It's not the game that is null and void (it happened), it's just the result (because that was what was affected by the cock-up) - that's how I understand it anyway. It was the same when the non-leagues were scrapped cos of Covid - the results meant nothing, but all suspensions and fines, goal bonuses etc remained because it all happened. If a player had punched the ref in the Exeter game, would you expect his ban not to happen because it was 'null and void'?
