Have to be honest I’m less and less enthusiastic about our cup tie the more the injuries mount. At least after Tuesday we only have two league games in a month.

I would be half tempted to rest a few for this.

Does anyone know if yellow cards carry into the FA Cup ties? I.e if Harrison was to get his fifth booking Tuesday would he miss that or the league game? I know Papa Johns doesn’t count for example.

We have to take this seriously, as we could do with a decent win to boost confidence. South Shields will be no pushovers so we need to make sure we field our least shit XI.

Always wary of lower sides in the FA Cup!

I don't know too much about them really, it looks like they're having a similar season to us in the NLS i.e. not scoring or conceding many.
I don't think you're going to have too much trouble getting through. Swindon have just loaned them Harry Parsons who is a striker but not sure if he will be cup tied. I'm taking my grandson as I live in Chippenham and hoping for a good game and hopefully not a stuffing!

I actually despair with people wanting us to throw the game. We only have two league games in November, if we lose we will have a two week gap between games and will probably bemoan being rusty.
Who doesn't love a cup run??

100% agree, the FA Cup is brilliant and probably has provided a lot of fans, especially at lower league level with some of the greatest memories supporting our clubs. Why anyone wouldn’t throw everything at getting through I don’t get at all.

The fixture list eases off not with not many midweek fixtures scheduled for a while so I’d expect DC to name his strongest available team for this. Always a bit underwhelming when you draw out a team you have played a lot in recent years but an opportunity to have a cup run and all that comes with it can’t be sniffed at. Just don’t want this to go to a replay, that would be the last thing we need.

What’s our strongest team? We make 6 changes a game currently!

I would make a couple of changes, I’d play Stone as he has to play at Oxford next week so break him in.

Obviously Wilson is a major doubt after last night so probably Ellis and Mipo (assuming we get permission)

Maybe a game for Dennis Politic if we go 3-4-3, now we play a system to suit him!

As you say we only have one midweek league game (Xmas week) from now until Valentines Day so the need to rotate should subside but don’t want a replay down there ideally.

On the flip side keeping our form going would be good to take into the run in to Xmas.

I'd play stone instead of Stephens, play politic instead of Harrison as Harrison is on 4 bookings. I wouldn't be surprised if we made about 9 changes though depends who is injured really. We know proctor, walker and ojo are out. Then Wilson was injured last night so could be out for a few weeks and garrity may still be out aswell.

We’ve got Curzon Ashton away. Aside from the fact I want to get through, I also want us to get some confidence together. So playing our strongest team is a must for me, especially since we’ve only got two league games this month and no midweek cramming to cope with.

Love the cup.

Why does Harrison being on 4 bookings matter.

If it was me I’d go 3-4-3 and largely the same team other than Politic in for Wilson and go with two genuine wingers up top. Also would have Forrester back in at RCB as believe his injury was only minor. Assuming Oxford let us play Stevens I’d keep him in goal too, he is just simply better at everything than Stone is.

Bottom line we owe Exeter one. What happened earlier in the season at their place left a very sour taste in the mouth how we performed that day and we need to set the record straight for pride more than anything else.

Hang on, we are still smarting from you denying us the title. We need to beat you again to teach you a lesson

I have always blasted the Premier League big boys for not taking this competition seriously so I am going to have to eat a bit of humble pie here but I would genuinely play a mix and match side away at Grimsby to try and preserve our first team 11 for the league campaign.

We have just lost Azaz for 12 weeks and with a couple more knocks our squad will certainly look slightly bare. Mayor and Miller are close to return but a JPT style side would make me happy this weekend.

Carol and your chairman shook hands after the 4-0 and said we are even now!

Possibly Sam starting up front (though I bet Hardie makes a strong case) and maybe Jenkins-Davis as one of the tens, or if he does not start to come on after 60 mins. I can also see Connor Grant starting at left back so he gets more game time, and maybe Nigel for Galloway in the back 3 to keep Brendan wrapped up in cotton wool.

Oxford City at home and I expect Scott Brown to field his strongest team. Oxford like all non league clubs have nothing to lose and everything to gain. We need a good run to get some money in the coffers and will be very disappointed by anything less than a win

Must admit whils't I don't want us to lose and hopefully go on a run. The FA cup has lost its magic for me . Especially in the earlier rounds. Cannot remember the last time I attended -- Think it must have been West Brom in the 1/4 final. In the 60's & 70's I never missed.

Because 5 bookings and your suspended and we now have Wilson and proctor out injured so if Harrison is suspended we are left with a young lad mipo as our only proper striker.

There isn't much between Exeter and vales squads both will finish midtable I reckon. The reason why we lost heavily there was down to having unfit players coming back from injury , players playing out of position and youth team players playing that day. We didn't have Ellis Harrison, politic, mipo then either so we were playing games at the start of the season when we weren't really ready for the season.

Sadly I agree. The rot set in when Utd were encouraged not to take part and it's been mostly downhill since then - Sunday evening finals, finals before the last league game of the season, etc. The final used to be an absolutely massive game.

We are a much better side now than the one that lost to Exeter in August when we didn't really have the squad assembled. Should be a close game.

To be fair there was one reason we were not competitive and that was the fact we were playing a half assembled squad and a couple of kids (with no strike force).

It’s a totally different animal now with options throughout, we’ve been making 6 changes a game and keeping this form up with performances to match so I would hope for a better game.

We make 11 changes for the paint pot pizza LDV and have a better 11 than we did that day out. It’s one mega frustration that we wrote off August but in fairness was vindicated with the signings we made in those latter days of the window.

Ellis Harrison and Butterworth have been absolutely mint signings.

Hopefully we can have a good run and of course I want a win but won’t lose too much sleep if we don’t, anything but a replay! At the moment I want a focus on ensuring we able to really consolidate our form at the moment in the league to ensure a comfortable season.

If anyone is playing drink when the BBC say it’s only 14 years since Portsmouth won the FA, you are already under the table, and will have to watch tomorrow to see what happened.

This should be a proper cup tie between Hereford and Portsmouth. Nice tribute to Ronnie Radford before the game, don’t think there’s ever been a season gone by where that goal hasn’t been shown. Didn’t realise Tyrone Barnett was now at Hereford, had a few clubs down the years that lad.

Interesting that Scarlett, who I think might be the most exciting striker in the league, has been denied permission to play. Implies he might be recalled in Jan.

Think Blackpool denied them permission to play Dale as well. With Scarlett it seems plausible Tottenham might want to send him to a Championship club. One of the joys of supporting a club in the bottom two leagues, don’t get attached to loan players.
