Really baffled as to why he’s taken our only striker off and our main threat to throw on Holden who’s not played in months and is a midfielder as soon as we go behind.

That’s basically saying meh. Have the win

He's just doing it to give every member of the squad a game. Exeter deserve to win anyway as they took the competition seriously by fielding a strong team.

Yeah not going to lose any sleep over it, if DC isn’t taking it seriously there’s no point me! Had it been a league game I’d be furious to lose that when we should be out of sight by half time but I’d rather it happen in this than a league game.

I don't know if you listen to that ale and vale podcast but they were saying the other night that vale concede from most of the shots that are on target and concede from alot of long range goals. We also score alot from set pieces and are the worst side in the league in the first half but 3rd best in the second half. Given the lineups the 2 sides put out today there's no surprise that Exeter win the match but vale once against were wasteful Infront of goal.

Meh.

Frustrating we’ve contrived to lose a game on the day we should of comfortably won and need to look at the defending again as we seem susceptible to goals from outside the box this week, but their late winner has saved us the hassle of a replay which was the last thing I wanted.

Officials dire but pleased enough with the general performance with the changes we made.

Fucking hell, we got a gate of 2319 as well (500 Walsall) - that’s pizza cup levels of apathy, but I’m not surprised as everyone knows Ainsworth isn’t arsed about cup games, and by the sounds of things, the stayaways were entirely justified in their absence.

Sounded like that was the most comfortable a 2-1 win could get. Should’ve been 4 or 5 from what I’ve heard. Into the hate for the second round, Wrexham or Alvechurch please!

Yeah. Surprised Exeter struggled a bit to be honest with their first team out there. We had no real strikers on last 30 minutes and 2 players that have hardly played but we at least made them work for it. We should have scored more than 1 first half and then the very poor decision from the linesman gets them back into it.

Second half, Exeter were a bit better but they didn't really create much. How many goals do we concede to speculative shots from outside the box? It's getting ridiculous, they all seem to be flying in.

Officials poor again but like others have said, we clearly didn't want a replay and I'm not entirely convinced we really saw the game as a priority.

I was really worried before our game today, thought we might be in for a repeat of last season in R1...never one to gloat, but so glad that the soles of our shoes don't smell of banana this evening!

We've been on the other side of these results in recent years so you can't go too OTT when the shoe is on the other foot.

But with our attacking options in the squad being Hopper (injured), House (injured), Mandroiu (injured), Garrick (not given permission to play) and Diamond (not given permission to play), that's basically our first choice front three and back-ups all injured bar Vernam so not a huge surprise we haven't scored. The squad today was effectively full of defenders and defensive midfielders.

Unfortunate how this has happened given 2 weeks ago we had both Mandroiu and House playing who would have been crucial to today. Crazy the lack of depth in the squad. You watch us go win at Bristol City on Tuesday night ...

I wonder if last season is on DC’s mind a bit, especially with Wilson injured and losing Garrity, Forrester, Ojo and Procs, we had that forward injury crisis around this time and it cost us so is that why he made the type of changes he did?

Either way means only 2 games in the next 4 weeks so a good time to recharge batteries ahead of the Xmas run in and get the injured lads patched up and work on things.

What's the lack of depth in attacking areas, though? We have six for three positions, plus Draper and Bishop if needed. I'm not sure how many we should really need! Just unfortunate we've lost House, Diamond and Garrick for varying reasons since Tuesday's game.

He’s looking a real good signing, would love to get him on a permanent.
We need a goalie and a left wing back in January as stone and Stevens arnt good enough and when benning is injured or not playing you can't play mccaron or small there as there not good enough or not ready for first team football and are basically a waste of 2 loans.
