Yeovil at home is probably be best draw we could have gotten outside of getting the big premier teams. Certainly beats away to Brighton into a cocked hat. It's a great chance for us to get into the fourth round where we're even more likely to get a big team, and if we do we're even more likely to get on telly. Yeovil will be thinking the same of course.

Tell the players that we'll give some of the prize money (£15k or so) to the flood relief fund, watch them hammer Yeovil and pocket the remaining £50k of prize money and then get Man United away in the next round. Should be beating Yeovil anyway really but we might as well add some incentive to it seeing as the players are so set on helping out around the county.

Nah, Villa at home is a shit draw, yes they're shit but not shit enough, the last time we played them we were 3.0 up at half time and they came back to 8.3. They may be a shit prem club but the quality of the players is still a lot better than what we have. Best scenario is to scrap a replay.
I don't think it's a bad draw mate especially if it's shown live on the BBC.Financially a draw would be the best result but i think it's a game we can win on the day,at least we didn't get another League 2 team which would have earned us fuck all.

Carlisle United v Yeovil Town
Chelsea v Leyton Orient / Scunthorpe
Everton v Dagenham and Redbridge / Whitehawk
Exeter City v Liverpool
Ipswich Town v Portsmouth
Newport County v Blackburn Rovers
Northampton Town v Milton Keynes Dons
Oxford United v Swansea City
Salford City / Hartlepool United v Derby County
Wycombe Wanderers v Aston Villa

We have eight League Two teams definitely in the 3rd round, while a further three face replays (two against non-league opposition)

Five of our clubs were handed dream-ties against Premier League opposition, with Exeter v Liverpool being the stand-out game among League Two clubs and one with a good chance of being televised. Orient and Daggers however have the opportunity to travel to two of the biggest clubs in the country should they get through their replays, and will be hoping to get a share of those lucrative gate reciepts. Wycombe will welcome a struggling Villa side to Adams Park in the John Gregory / Martin O'Neill derby while Oxford host Swansea at the less spectacular end of the spectrum, but those are still good draws which should bring large crowds.

Things are a bit more disappointing for the four clubs who have drawn Championship opposition and while Ipswich away won't excite Pompey fans much, it does at least represent a decent chance of making the fourth round. Northampton also may feel in with a shout as they host MK Dons (The Cobblers being one of the chief objectors to Wimbledon FC moving to Milton Keynes back in 2004), who are struggling in the Championship and will probably bring a decent crowd. Perhaps most disappointing of all for Newport who face a distinctly average Blackburn side at Dave Parade, and Hartlepool who (should they beat Salford) will have a home tie with Derby.

That leaves Carlisle v Yeovil as the only all-League-Two tie in the draw and indeed the lowest overall ranked match in the third round. Yeovil are actually the second-lowest ranked team definitely in the third-round (ahead of Eastleigh) so we can't be too disappointed to have them at home, and this represents a chance to get into the fourth round for both teams. It means there will definitely be at least one League Two team in the fourth round, and whoever does win that match may well end up being the lowest ranked team in the competition overall.

the John Gregory/Martin O'Neill/Paul Lambert derby, please.

and yeah, I did over-react, it's not a shit draw, we could have done worse. It's probably a 7/10 draw.

So great to see Whitehawk and Salford in with a shout. True underdog clubs. Brilliant story. Cup romance!

Disappointed in the lack of media coverage around Salford as well actually. I heard that some of the Class of 92 are involved up there?

According to Wikipedia
Stelling was brought up in a council house in Hartlepool. He attended Rift House Primary School and West Hartlepool Grammar School. After leaving school his first job was as a journalist at the Hartlepool Mail where he remained for four years.

I guess Stelling just tries to hide the fact he is from Hartlepool, I mean, who wouldn't?

There's a photo of Ridley Scott in the thread already.

As for Meatloaf. Didn't he draw Hartlepool out of a hat on Soccer AM?

That said, Hartlepool knock us into a cocked hat when it comes to famous residents / fans. All we have are Hunter Davies (who also supports Tottenham), Melvyn Bragg (who also supports Arsenal) and Helen Skelton (who has worn a United top for a photoshoot, but not sure if she actually cares about football). Think the most famous Carlisle fan at the moment is probably the lad off the Royal Navy advert.

Meatloaf even went so far as to look for a property in Hartlepool , but decided that even so there is one or two quite nice areas , Beverly Hills it was not ....shame really cos 2 mile from me in Sunny Billingham ( 8 from Hartlepool ) there is Wynard , a very nice executive place where the likes of Keegan , and Duncan Bannatyne have homes ..... I'd quite like to live near Meatloaf
