Liverpool are good team to get in the cup as they usually give their share of the gate receipts to the lower league team so you will probably receive the entire takings from your trip to Anfield.

I'm happy Plymouth won as hopefully their players minds will be on playing Liverpool when we play them on Boxing Day.

Blimey, never heard that before, that would be a result.

That was an awful spectacle, but compelling to watch.
When will Newport's pitch eventually engulf all 22 players and the officials in a muddy tomb, a mini-Passchendale?

For those who have been around the grounds in the league, is there a worse one than Rodney Parade (marsh?).

Why didn't they give their entire takings to us last season? Because we gave them a game & took them to penalties?

Do they only donate the entire takings to a lower league team if they give Liverpool an easy/comfortable 90 minutes?

Watched the game last night, and couldn't help but think Plymouth's win was very much welcomed by the other sides at the top end of the table. There's always the chance Plymouth (or any other side in their shoes) will have the forthcoming trip to Anfield on their minds, like players wanting to avoid picking up any injuries etc. Not saying they'll take the league games less seriously or something, but it would almost certainly mean not performing at a 100%.

This doesn't apply to Slew obviously. He's always at 25%.

Unless Plymouth can sign a decent striker in Jan, I think they'll come unstuck post Christmas and drop into the play off's.

Re. Liverpool not donating their share of the gate. Although I can't think of any reason why they'd do this, but perhaps it could be they didn't want to go public? Wouldn't make sense though as it's good publicity.

Hopefully we'll have brunt back in the next few months as well as spencer and hopefully garita will be back to full fitness soon I think we we need More of a winger then forward but if a decent one becomes available hopefully we'll be willing to spend

In the next few months? That's why I'm saying you need a striker. A lot of games between now and Feb.

No not exactly, but I recall Nixon or Jenkins or someone referring to our "cut" or "percentage" of the gate receipts etc from that match.

Well I heard about this before we played them, I haven't bothered to investigate so it could be true... or it could be that it's only non-league teams they give the receipts to... or it's something they used to do and since stopped doing.

Had to take a break from reading the mainstream Argyle sites and F/B ones. The hysteria for the Liverpool game has reached sickening levels of idiocy. The very fact that the next 3 league games are massively important is lost on these dickheads as all you will hear until January 8th is Anfield this Liverpool that. Janners going up the ground today buying half season tickets just to get their mitts on a Liverpool ticket FFS !! The very same IDIOTS that previously said they could not afford 2 home games in a week are now going up and spending a shitload of cash for the Liverpool game. Wouldnt want to go to Anfield to share the same oxygen as these fools. Ill go to the Wycombe, Crawley and Barnet games and watch the FA Cup game on TV.

What really matters is if the players get carried away and the league form stutters.

It's double edged Adams could use it as a carrot or a stick if he has any sensce. As for the fans well dont get me started. I sincerely hope the players are not in the same mindset.

When we played Man United our form took a serious nose dive once all the hype was over.

Players will be worried about getting injured befor the game too.

That'll be quite an injection of cash though if people are now buying half-season tickets just on the back of this one game.
