The 2 results tonight gave me hope for our game against Oldham.

But then I remember we’re at fortress (3 home wins 2017) Brunton Park. :ffs:

It's great to see league 2 clubs getting wins against much bigger sides, that's wha the fa cup is all about.

I hope whoever gets shaw lane in the 2nd round enjoys their game

Oxford reminded me of us last season under Bruno our Portuguese maestro. Messing about passing the ball at the back, slowly edging forward and then toothless up front.
Masterful tactically by Aspo pushing up onto them and winning possession high up the field and look forward to Oxford joining us in league 2 next season.

Wahey the forum finally succumbed and gave us the all in one match thread we've been asking for. :bg:

Because if every team in league 2 had their own thread we would be on 2 pages for the FA Cup. I know a couple of teams that wouldn’t comment either way though!

Gone a similar route to us with the foreign manager although not sure if they have gone and hired a load of overseas players too? Start the season how we did then get to this point and the pitches become heavier etc may be worth a cheeky fiver but not sure how they are week in week out and can’t really judge them on one tie.

Chasetown aside some of our worst FA Cup performances have been in decent seasons, I.e. Scarborough! Ford United, Dartford away.

For us though it shows what we are capable of though, good to see Boot get a go in goal after the Forest lads stinker! As Aspin called last week a relegation performance last night is one that would see us cruise up the league to safety that’s for sure and five wins in seven is showing we are seemingly on the right path. Hopefully any fragile confidence knock from last week was erased last night, out the kids out on Tuesday give them a chance to claim a stake ahead of a huge game Friday in South Wales.

Looking forward to today - hoping for a crowd of around 7,000 if possible. Portsmouth have already sold 1,100+. Big, enticing game.

Fancy Luton to line up like this today:

GK Marek Stech
RB James Justin
LB Dan Potts
CB Alan Sheehan
CB Scott Cuthbert
DM Olly Lee
CM Andrew Shinnie
CM Pelly Ruddock
AM Luke Berry
CF Danny Hylton
CF James Collins

Subs:
James Shea, Jack Stacey, Akin Famewo, Jordan Cook, Harry Cornick, Elliot Lee, Luke Gambin

Ah but that's only because we are playing a team from a different division otherwise we would have had a Navy Boys v Trawlermen thread...

Probably be something close to that i suspect, really hope JJ gets a start, Stacey needs the rest if anything. I am however doubtful as to whether Shinnie is capable of playing one of those 2 midfield spots, he seems a pretty pure number 10 to me and comes across as too weak to play that role. Wouldn't be surprised if played but probably swapped over with Berry.

It wont happen but personally I would like to see us rest Collins and give Lee a go up front, hes looked really lively in his sub appearances and I think deserves a go.

Hope we can progress today, the atmosphere will be as flat as ever, though possibly a few Oldham fans making the trip, so some goals wouldn't go amiss.

Dreading today. We're going to get completely swamped.

Our season is looking more and more likely to end in relegation with each passing week. This will be the game to really knock the stuffing out of us.

LOL @ Mansfield. I should've remembered their recent record against pub teams in FA competitions.

Conrad Logan showing again why he's not good enough for a L2 team seeking promotion.

Shaw Lane hit the post as well, can see this being an upset.

They should still come through it, but Mansfield don't really look like they fancy this much at all. Getting absolutely battered physically and pretty lucky not to be behind.

Mansfield look like they have very little quality aerially which if is what they are like in the league may explain their struggles.

Jacob Mellis reliving the nightmare of Marek Stech there. Third miss of the season - why is he still on pens?

Danny Rose scores for Mansfield, surely they'll see this through now.

We’ve put a strong lineup out today. Hoping we don’t bottle it against Conference opposition again.

No Raggett or JMD today, both not allowed to play in the FA Cup. No Habergham or Anderson due to injury, so two youths on the bench.

Sounding like we're going 4-3-3 / 4-2-1-3.

At Home, sadly not Home Park: think we'll nick this 0-1. They couldn't beat us last season, so hoping they will not this season either.

Bit disappointing that JJ isn’t starting. I know he started midweek in the glorified friendly but still, feels like he is stagnating right now, maybe we should have taken the money and run in the summer.

Looking a bit of a sparse crowd here. Decent turnout from Pompey but definitely feels pretty empty compared to what it’s normally like in the Home ends.

Only six on the bench for Crawley at Wigan. Kaby Djalo happily posting videos from Gatwick Airport and still no sign of Dean Cox.
Evina not available at left back. Injury/loan clause? Doherty in his place. I hope Wigan don't have a right winger/midfielder/full back.

Grimsby Lincoln and Chesterfield all already 1-0 down away at League 1 opposition.
