I’ve been really impressed by Hemmings, but he does miss some fairly easy chances for sure. All a trade off though as the rest of his game is of a higher level, so his finishing is the reason that he’s down here.

He’s never really had a run alongside Dennis yet, which is frustrating. Played mostly with Stead who is a similar sort of forward.

I’m sure there’s many things which make hardy upset about this season, but the combined failure of Dennis and hemmings must wrankle.

Dennis will easily get a harder time of the 2 if he plays purely because of his Chesterfield links. The Mansfield folk will probably clap hemmings purely out of relief because he doesn’t play for us any longer.

One up top works better higher up the leagues due to quick, and most importantly consistent wide men.

We haven’t really tried them together because Stead has basically been ever present (until recently when he and Hemmings have been injured and we’ve had to play Dennis on his own out of necessity). I can understand why as Stead offers some leadership in a team horribly lacking in it, but i would like to see them given a run - could definitely see it working.

Really our problem isn’t going forward at all, though. Stead, Hemmings, Boldewijn and Alessandra have all individually had pretty decent seasons. We’ve just shipped absurd numbers of goals and can’t get control of midfield to get them in the game enough.

Hemmings and Dennis are too similar in stature and physicality for them to be a successful partnership. We lack a Shola this year. Big physical target man.

The decision makers at Notts thought we could tippy tippy our way out the league, the kind of people who talk about Barca playing the right way. Football snobbery lead us to picking an unbalanced weak side. They might be right, we might well go down. I can’t see this spineless bunch being arsed about the relegation

We certainly do, Shola was far more effective during his time at Notts than I imagined he would be when he joiners Great attitude too, but obviously his legs had gone and near the end was more an impact sub/player, as back to back 90 mins too often wasn’t a good idea.

Horribly unbalanced and apparently uninterested sadly sums the squad up perfectly. That’s my biggest concern is the lack of fight/character this season if Ardley can’t change that then we will end up where so many others have#stain

The initial allocation (1100?) sold out Tuesday but they are still on sale so obviously not sold out yet. Poor but in the circumstances I am guessing a lot of people don't fancy shelling out £22 to see us (probably) get a spanking again and the Stags fans taking the piss. It will be the first time I can remember us not selling out though, while surely it will be the highest number of home fans in this fixture for some time? It will be up on the 4,000 or so home fans that were there 2 years ago for sure (3-1, even Darius f****** Henderson scored), which I guess shows each side's numbers can ebb and flow in this game.

Anyway, looking forward to it now, in a strange way, few beers in Brunel's first too. If the players can't get themselves up for a local derby in Ardley's first game (he has come across very well so far without resorting to cliche) they don't deserve to be here and can expect to be on their way next month.

I'm gonna go for an unlikely 1-1, with us scoring first (Hewitt), Stags equalising, then us somehow withstanding an onslaught with six minutes added on. We should have Stead back at least, as Jacob says above he has been one of the few to show any leadership/passion so far this season. Sounds like Hemmings may make the bench.

I think our "moderate" home support has been steadily increasing, we've averaged 4,000 home fans a game so far which isn't bad for us considering - we're doing a lot of work on and off the pitch, and Mansfield's excellent youth system is also bearing fruit both in the footballing and community sense.

Probably 5,500 to 6,000 home fans tomorrow - but as always, the football is the most important thing - hoping we can push on tomorrow.

I think you'll have the players to just about keep up anyway, after Chesterfield have fell into the abyss and look like doing so further, it would be a shame to lose another rival - though hopefully we can push onwards to league 1

You had guaranteed promotion man Evans in charge who was fully supported financially. Plus you only just missed out on a playoff spot last season.

Add to that you Chairman has thrown millions and millions at the club both on and off the field. All of that should, in most cases, result in more than just ‘steadily increasing’, I suspect Mr Radford was expecting a surge or at the very least more than what he’s seen to-date.

If Mansfield get promoted to L1, then maybe then the Mansfield public will properly start backing the club and repaying the chairman for all his efforts with a real surge in supporters through the turnstiles.

I have sympathy for them really, I would not like our only derby being a town team that considers them to be second fiddle to the spireshites if I was supporting a club from a metropolis like Nottingham.

Everyone in football knows your main rivals are Chesterfield and there is no love lost between the two sets of fans. Not that it necessarily translates to bums on seats at Field Mill. 500 more doesn’t scream fierce rivarly compared to the Nottinghamshire lower league derby

If you are under 35 and a Notts fans naturally the link to Forest is limited but if you are over then you’ve seen enough games between the two. You have to remember that it’s the offices and factories that have Red Dog fans sitting next to Pie supporters. There maybe a token Stag fan there but they won’t really get a look in.
