My first thoughts weren't far off that when I heard the news, or more likely that the bribes could be recovered and the paper trail covered up. I think we are all becoming a little cynical, although maybe with good reason, about anything that FIFA does.

Serious stuff though, without knowing who intends to bid for the Finals, where is it likely to be held? There is a tradition of rotating it around the continents and as we will have had something like Europe (Germany 2006), Africa (South Africa 2010), South America (Brazil 2014) and assuming they are allowed to stand, Europe (Russia 2018) and Middle East (Qatar 2022), the logical next one would have to be either Asia or North America. I would love it if they went for Australia, but suspect that it might go to somewhere like China or Malaysia, that are both emerging markets for the sport.

Austria at least got a World Cup bronze, from '54, I think. As oposed to Qatar, who has no traditions what so ever. But the massas of the world always go where the money iz. And don't care about anything else.

I think it's a good thing to give the World Cup to countries that don't have a footballing heritage. That way you can promote the game to a larger audience and maybe kickstart the country in to becoming better at football.

Do you think they may investigate sometime them Spain/Italy games in the Korea World Cup?? they looked very very very dodgy back then and with all this fifa bribe stuff now you could easily see it being rigged.

the funny part is even if.....even if that were true (and for me its b*llocks) then he's still massively guilty as he's just openly said the votes were rigged and dictated by outside influences......he 100% knew about it, but just ignored it because the voting had to be rigged for said 2 countries.

but hey.............he isn't guilty at all of course. It is a shame his business commitments mean he cannot make the world cup final tonight.
