FGR are a good side and worthy champions, I thought our defending for those goals was embarrassing and I’m surprised we managed to score in the second half.

Bizarre seeing a team celebrate winning a title with only 400 of them in the away end too, but they enjoyed it.
Why was 480 away fans celebrating bizarre?

It’s a lot more than the likes of Crawley, Sutton, Salford, Harrogate etc etc would have taken in our shoes and the distance between us and Mansfield.

Thought it was a great atmosphere by both our clubs yesterday though.

Just felt weird to me seeing a title on the line and only 400 odd, I didn’t say it was a shit following, it’s what I expected from a club the size of FGR. Sorry about missing the 80 off

How was the lap of honour received?

Can't comment on the last two games as I didn't bother but Bogle is a tricky one for me. Some games he's awful and others he's caused problems. He's not a target man in any way which is how we're trying to use him. Much better ball to feet. Personally I won't write him off just yet, he needs better quality and a better system around him.

Carver on the otherhand though
I left after the 2nd goal,Pools midfield/defence just let another young kid waltz through & put it in the net.
I just won't put up with lack.of effect,of which there was very little again yesterday .

I walked out on the final whistle cos I didn't have it in me to applaud after that performance, but spoke to others who stayed and they said it was well received and rightfully so, it's been a tough season all round, with hopefully lessons learned by a lot of people at the club.

I like Bogle and still think he's gonna be an asset for us, he's never gonna be a ball chaser, I think some Pools fans just wanna watch a Luke James type who chases balls like a dog for 90 minutes and ultimately does nothing, he should be the focal point of the attack, he wins balls, holds it up and has clever feet but there's often never a Pools shirt within 40 yards of him, but if we're being fair he was hopeless yesterday, his performance was summed up with his final chance of the game, a header from the penalty spot, which somehow ended up going away from goal, he got pulled almost immediately after.

Carver just seems like he has no confidence, played in on goal yesterday, it was a tight angle to be fair, but he blasts it with his right at the keeper, instead of maybe using his left and slotting it.
I don't want players running around like a dog,but I'd like to see someone actually make an effort to get into the box when 2 decent crosses have been put in.

He does but I think the issue some people rightly have is he doesn't win enough even when there are bodies around him to lay it off and that's the thing he's been very hot and cold. Most of the time though there isn't enough support because players like Fela and Carver are not up to it in addition to the system where we are always too deep and its banged in long to him. He needs a chance with a better strike partner who's on his wavelength, don't get all the hate coming his way at least on the socials.

I wasn't calling you out on the running about like dog bit but you're right though his and the rest of the teams performances just took a nosedive after we secured safety, the performances of Bogle when he first signed, to those now are poles apart.

In reality, not actually that big a game though. Promotion already secured, and most FGR fans resigned to Exeter getting the Titie. Far bigger game for you. Would Mansfield have taken loads more than 480 to us in the same situation, maybe a few more, but I don’t recon loads more at all.

Mansfield usually bring pretty low Away crowds to FGR.

Like yesterday, the set up was barmy, it was like a weird 541 with Mols/Fela ultra wide on both wings leaving the midfield two to get trampled over time and time again.

I dunno if you've seen the second goal but the lad picks the ball up edge of the centre circle and just goes forward and pings a beauty, not a blue and white shirt troubling him.

Orient Tranmere was largely irrelevant, the updates from Bristol were far more entertaining. Congrats to the Gas, commiserations to Northampton and any Scunthorpe fan who made it through that game deserves a medal.

For what it's worth, Orient offered little and squandered whatever they did carve out and we offered even less but scored with the one decent move we did string together. The penalty/non-penalty was a bizarre bit of officiating all round. Based on Mellon's reaction at the end of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not here in August - looked absolutely devastated and that's surely not concerning the mathematical improbability that was today's results going in our favour. The last two years (with Dundee and then ourselves again) haven't exactly enhanced his reputation as a manger and if he does leave, our complaints of negative football and lacking any sort of plan B echo those from Dundee fans. Setting up with a positive mindset away from home would surely have seen us in the autos, but not to be.
I think from his post match comments regarding squad building it is clear that he is staying, and rightly so.

As for the game, I thought it was a professional performance by us and we deserved to win. Murphy made a couple of decent saves in the first twenty minutes, but Orient ran out of ideas in the second half. We put several decent moves together after half time which should have resulted in goals to make the winning margin more comfortable.

It was pretty much our first choice eleven which played yesterday, and it is a decent side at this level. We just need to add a bit more strength in depth for next season, although losing Kieron Morris would be a blow.

We actually got more points this season than last year, when we finished seventh, or 2018-19 when we were actually promoted.

Anyway, my original post was not a dig in the first place, just when a team wins the title away from home generally they fill the North Stand, hence why it felt a tad bizarre seeing a pitch invasion with about 200 folk celebrating, absolutely no need to go ultra defensive about it.

It was all good with the both sets of fans pre and post match, a lot of FGR fans even got a round of applause working past the fan zone.

Please supply stats for that statement otherwise it'll seem you are just gobbing off just for the sake of it.

Most of the players starting were making their 4th or 5th professional start and a few were on loan at Northern Premier teams two months ago. 5 of the players that started signed professional deals this year, none of them are going to be looking for new clubs anytime soon.
That goalie of your was quite outstanding yesterday and prevented a cricket score.

Barton has shown complete contempt for L2 and the clubs in it banging on about how much bigger Gas are than everyone else and its everyone's big day out. We all know that no fucker bats an eyelid seeing them at this level so they can take their attitude back up with them to a lower half L1 finish as far as I'm concerned. No problem with the fans and congrats to them but he's such a c*** isn't he?
He's bloody right though.

Eh, your post just backs up mine you imbecile!

Mansfield bright 390 to FGR for a huge game. Okay it was a Tuesday, but you have provided no evidence that Mansfield would take many more than the 480 We took on Saturday!

No go off back into your lair you weirdo.

We gave them all a head start too. Title winning form since the start of the year.
People moan about Scunnys young team, but we have played all season with 3 defenders aged 19/20 in their debut league season.
Elliot Anderson also 19 with no league experience.

Yes, sorry I do not think you would have taken many more.

That Tuesday game was absolutely massive for you and FGR, not just a run of the mill game. Saturday was FGR stumbling along in poor form when we had already been promoted and Exeter had it in their hands.

I was there yesterday and it was fantastic, however if the game was fir p4motion we would have doubled that away attendance.

Not a hope in hell you would have brought many more than 600 to us for an equivalent game.

Anyway we probably won’t be able to find out for a while.

Well done FGR. You lot proved me right on which side was winning the title :cool1: You'll be a fine addition to L1 as will Exeter who play football the right way so congrats go to the Grecians as well.

TBH I was rooting for the Cobblers to claim 3rd for a very obvious reason - to join us and the scum (that would be the Pish) next season in L1 but I kinda like the Gas as a club so I'm ok with that so well done you Gas. Anyways, good luck in the play offs.

BUT it would've been fairer if play was also halted up at Barrow as soon as play was stopped in the Rovers game because as things turned out it was a great idea for the fans to get on the pitch. Joey Barton speaking to his players during the halt in play - 'Cobblers won 3-1 guys! We don't need to grab another goal, we just make sure we don't concede and job's a good un!'

In fact that pitch invasion and subsequent delay actually made the task more difficult for us;

a) The relentless momentum was stopped, im sure we would have scored an 8th at least.
b) Scunthorpe players had a much needed break, they looked shattered. They came right at us after play restarted.
c) Home crowd became very edgy knowing a goal against us would send us into the play offs.
d) Gas players didnt know whether to go for another goal or defend the clean sheet (another goal could have sparked a further pitch invasion and game would have been abandoned).

Very stupid from our lot to run on the pitch in those numbers, could have been very very costly. Looking forward to meeting Cambridge again next season, i guess we have repaid the Gaffney transfer by allowing Williams to sign for you so we are quits now? :bg:

It is abundantly obvious that Mansfield's away support is twice that of FGR.
You might not like that fact but it is true.
Now I suggest that you back off you imbecilic weirdo.

We were actually handed the League 2 trophy at a motorway junction last night, which is a bit shit tbh would have been nice to have lifted it properly but apparently there is no duplicate and both the trophy (and the runners up medals) were at Exeter.

Had a civic reception with a few of the players today.

That’s a nonsense excuse by the EFL, the league 1 and 2 trophies are the exact same but for lettering. As league 1 didn’t play I’m sure they could have borrowed it if needed and had one at each ground, medals can wait fans don’t give a shit about that bit. As for duplicates all you need to do is go to any trophy room at clubs and they often have multiple of the same trophy they really aren’t hard to make. Sounds like a cock up from the EFL and excusing themselves as usual.

Is that Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs on the left and a random old lesbian on the right?

Looks like one of those crap presentations after a work go karting day out.

Great result for Port Vale yesterday and wish them well in the play offs. Be good to see them at Highbury next season Also well done to Joey Barton and his team, quality return to league 1 and he'll be well up for the challenges ahead
