Got rid of all the high earners and have cobbled together a squad of pensioners like Chris McCann and Scott Wagstaff (it's 2024 now so they are old) and promising youngsters, with a couple of Premier League loanees. Won 2-1 away to Colchester on the opening day but I fear a LONG SEASON is on its way. Predicted finish is 15th so the bar is set pretty low, luckily...

Went with Enfield Town. Horrid start. Seems nothing ever changes. I will always be shit in the non-leagues.

^^^

Fucking done here This went completely out of plan. Oh yes, I'm also done with 4-4-2. Utterly useless formation in this game.

Sorry Yellow.

(For a Libertadores style update, Torquay lost in the League 1 play-off final last season but seem to have completely collapsed now).

Bolton is a screaming hellscape. £5,000 over the £25,000 wage budget, unable to sign anyone, having to get rid of everyone on over £2,000 a week.

What have i done
That's part of the fun!

Loves those type of games.

Started as an unemployed manager and took the job at Brigg. Got in Jeff Whitley. This should be fun.

Left Brigg and went back to the football leagues. I don't have what it takes in the non-leagues. That simple.

The Football League on the other hand, is a league I've found success in the past. Don't think I've ever done poorly in the Football League (except Fleetwood and Coventry)

Libertadores, if you stuck around at any club for longer than twelve seconds you might find it's not so hard.

Yep. I'm not updating here until I've found a proper club. Haven't really stuck around anywhere after getting sacked from Hong Kong

Fucking Exeter.

Had to go there on the final day needing to avoid defeat to confirm a playoff spot. They've won the league so have nothing to play for. Beat us 2-1 and I get pushed out by Scunthorpe.

Very disappointing.

Still on FM14 as everyone else saying how rubbish FM15 initially was put me off it a bit.

Currently in charge of Aberdeen in the 2016/2017 season and we're doing remarkably well. After three seasons of mediocrity, the best being two 4th placed finishes and one European campaign that ended in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Europa League, we're currently three points ahead of Celtic on NYD 2017 after a run of 10 wins out of 11 games. Totally unexpected season so far, I only added a couple more fairly average players to the squad, one of which was on loan here the season previous. One of our youth strikers that I've been blooding over the course of two or three seasons has really stepped up to the plate as well...it all started when he scored a hat-trick in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup which we went on to lose 4-3 to Celtic. We've actually been decent in the cups, reached the Semi's of both the League and Scots Cup in all three completed seasons so far, but never won it annoyingly.

But yeah, things are looking good despite a very modest wage budget of £45,000 and having not spent a penny on transfers in the last two years. Could it finally be the year that Celtic's dominance is broken...

Bolton 2024/25 update... 7th in League 1 after 15 games. Team is slowly adapting to tactics (still only about 50% there) so there is room for improvement still - will aim for a playoff place now.

Think I'm going to go with North Ferriby in the Conference North with Sunday League playing experience.

A village side (hence the nickname), £4k/week wage budget, expected to finish around 16th. Terrible squad, too, bar two or three.

My first season at Portsmouth was a struggle. Coming into Christmas looked destined for the sack as I struggled in mid table. Not scoring enough goals and conceding irregularly. Still along came January and got in a new keeper on loan. This along with a few players recovering some fitness inspired my team into a brilliant run. Ryan Taylor started scoring for fun and off I went charging up the table. With 5 games to go I was in the playoffs but ten points off automatic promotion. That Randall guy I mentioned earlier laid on 9 assists in the 5 matches giving me 5 wins and took me to a third place finish.

Knowing the playoffs are a total lottery I went into the board room asking for a contract, the players can't afford this distraction I argued. They caved and gave me a year extension even though I had yet to meet the criteria set prior to the season. We then proceeded to win the home leg of our playoff tie 3-1 and the away 1-0. Going into the final off 7 consecutive wins I was confident. 90 minutes later we had lost. Two flukey, some might say deserved, goals had done for us. A second season in League 2 beckons and to be honest I am not sure the finances will hold up.

I'm a doing a Chelsea career, and will start a new non league career after some experience before hand with Grimsby. I sometimes quit careers to move a few games back as I got annoyed such as my Chelsea career, but after a break from the game I'm getting back into it.

6 games so far for Chelsea, 4 wins 2 draws in the league. 4th round of capital one cup after beating Man City 2-0 and Champions league didn't start off great, losing 3-2 away at Leverkusen.

In terms of transfers I sold Ramires to PSG for £30M which I didn't expect to pull off, before stealing 50M worth of Juventus players in Benucci and Asamoah to boost my defence and Midfield. Still have 17M and 200k wage to play about with if needed in January.

Reached the 33rd game in the SPL season and the league has split and we're currently in an astonishing four way race for the title. I'm top on goal difference from Celtic with Dundee Utd and Hibs just one and two points behind respectively. Played the 34th game, after the split and lost 1-0 to Celtic at Parkhead to drop me to 4th and two points off the top...even more annoying after I beat them in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final a week previous, only the 2nd win I've had over them in 18 games!

Also won in the League Cup Final as well, so if all goes to plan (Which it can't, surely), I could be on for a historic treble.

With who....?

Aberdeen mate. I've cut the wage budget year on year as well which makes it even more satisfying. This is probably the best I've ever done on FM aside from one Peterborough save where I took them from L1 to Prem in 3 seasons before resigning.

I wouldn't be at Aberdeen now had Wolves not turned my job application down at the back end of the last campaign when I was 'insecure' at Aberdeen,

Nice. I'm currently insecure at the moment, just had a board meeting and if results don't improve within the next month I'm gone :( I'm in my first season at FO ZP Sport Podbrezova (chosen at random), recently promoted to the Slovak First Division but sitting near the bottom in February. Got knocked out by minnows in the 3rd round of the Slovak Cup, a shame really as it could have secured my job and got European football. Need to turn things round, fuck knows who'll have me if I get sacked from this.

I BLOODY DONE IT.

1 point clear of Celtic going into the last round of games, shithoused a 0-0 at Easter Road against Hibs while Celtic lost to St Mirren 2-1 to hand me the title by two points. My biggest achievement on FM with the Cup Final, also against Hibs to go to possibly complete a historic treble.

What a day for the Dons...

Good job, that. ^

So, I was third favourite in the 'sack race' which shocked me, so I applied for a couple of L1 jobs that arose, the board offered a chance to resign/get sacked. I left Wrexham again, and have got myself the job at Blackpool.

They finished bottom of L1 last season, so I'll be hoping for an instant return to the third tier. Infact, I'd like to get them back into the Championship within 3-5 seasons. Or it all goes tits up and I'm sacked in October. Either could happen.

2014/2015 (Season 2)

Dover Athletic

So, as per my last update things were running smoothly - 5 wins in 5 to really kick start our Conference South title expectations. I wish I didn't say anything as after that we failed to beat Hayes & Yeading United before losing our first game of the season at Basingstoke Town. That defeat, however, was to be our only league defeat up until December as an 11 game unbeaten run saw us make the number 1 spot in the league table our own & during this time we also made a run to the FA Cup 2nd Round, where we battled hard but eventually lost 3:1 to League One side Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

dover.png

I was still horrendously overspending on my wage budget but cut back on the fringe first team players in order to bring the spending down slightly & this left me with a bit of a
skeleton crew. My tiring Dover players did magnificently to hold on to the top spot in the league week in week out with more often then not the same starting eleven, despite a few hiccups along the way, until matchday 33 when the final game in a short blip in form saw Eastleigh overtake us in the table. We kept pace with Eastleigh (who were also spending beyond their means) until our showdown at their Silverlake Stadium on matchday 39 where a passionate battle from Dover wasn't enough to stop us losing 3:2 & bottling our title aspirations. We slogged on to the end of the regular season, eventually finishing 3rd after Havant & Waterlooville managed to gain a spot in the table over us meaning my second Conference South play off adventure in as many seasons with Dover Athletic!

At this point I began to reminisce about how we were completely outclassed by Ebbsfleet United in the play off semi's last season & how this time round it was pretty clear that my job (& the club's finances) depended on getting it right. Bromley away in the first leg saw the lads do a professional job, winning 2:0 & setting us up with an easy ride to the final. The 2nd leg was somewhat of a mixture of amazing goals, keeper blunders & total chaos as we went from being 2:0 up at half time to 4:1 up with 15 minutes to go, only for the visitors to desperately claim back a remarkable 3 goals to make the score 4:4 & my underwear need replacing. We held on, I cleaned myself up & we were through to the final where 5th place Bath City (who beat Havant & Waterlooville) awaited in our promotion showdown.

Through the virtues of finishing higher in the league table we hosted the play off final & in front of 2,583 at fortress Crabble we realized the pre season dreams the hardest possible way thanks to a goal from lord Adam Birchall just before half time. We missed a penalty during injury time in the second half, causing me to think the gods of football were about to really throw me a swerve ball, but that proved irrelevant as Dover Athletic return to the top level of non-league football for the first time since the 2001/02 season!

HOW IS EVERYONE SO SUCCESSFUL AT THIS GAME

Oh I'm not successful... A mentally handicapped corn flake could have done better then me & won the Conference South with the sort of wages I was spending!

Yeah, might end up doing so.

I started with NFU last weekend just as a bit of a tester game (unless it does well) because I've never managed a PT side. I'm approaching Xmas and in mid-table but the problem of lack of clean sheets is still here.

I feel like Nigel Clough with the amount of cup wins I've had, although I've just been knocked out of the FA Cup in the 2nd round by Chesterfield 2-1.
