Managed to get rid of all release clauses in contracts, so that's a result.

Currently 2nd in the PL in the January transfer window. Topped my CL Group by a point (Steaua, Athletico Madrid, AC Milan) and have Barca in the knock-outs. Out of the FA and Carling Cups.

Clearing some of the dead wood out who are out of contract at the end of the season. Sergio Cano, after 750 odd appearances has left at the age of 33 and a couple of the other older ones of the squad (29/30) also want to leave and I'll try and get rid of those, too. That's to be expected when you opt to build a young squad to train over a few years. It'll also free up a space for other foreign players to join (only currently got 3 or 4 HG players).

Oh yeah, how are you getting on/who with? What's the secret?

Started unemployed, sunday league rep with no badges (as you do..).

Failed with interviews at Seraing United (Belgium 2nd tier), Eastbourne Boro and Whitehawk both in the Skrill South. Somehow blagged myself a role at Wrexham, sitting 17th in the Skrill Prem in November. Lost two of my first three games, dropping to 18th, before changing tactics. This worked incredibly, and I went unbeaten in the League from around 20th November, clinching the title on the final day. I was only top of the league for three days all season aswell! Louis Moult and Elliot Durrell were unreal, hitting near on 50 goals in my 6 months.

League 2 then, we started well in the league and in the cups. We reached the latter stages of the JPT, winning at some L1 sides on the way through. Eventually finished around 13th. Got Chelsea away in the FA Cup, which boosted the finances. Thought I'd strengthened over the summer, but it didn't seem like it. If anything, I did too much, bringing in players I didn't really need as I couldn't fit them all in. I left the club after an 8-0 hammering at home to leaders Blackpool. Wrexham were around 19th when I left.

Then had an interview at Doncaster, sat 10th in L2, but didn't get it as I didn't really want a job with terrible finances. Two weeks later, Torquay job comes up. They'd been relegated to Skrill South in 14/15, before instantly returning through the playoffs a year later. They were in the relegation zone when I took over. Finances were stretched, but I thought fuck it and brought in about 7 loanees in order to survive. We made a bit of a meal of it, but survival was confirmed with a game to spare, though it could have been so, so different. I was 19th and hosted Lincoln who sat just in the relegation zone. 3 points separated the teams. It's goalless, until Lincoln get a penno in the 87th min. My keeper (who I signed) saves it. We draw 0-0, then go on to win two of our last three to ensure it's quite comfortable.

16/17 then. I had the mother of all clear outs in the summer, trimming the squad right down. We lost our first two, then won two, then lost, then won four. After that I applied for the Leeds job (mid table L1). That cost us as a) I didn't get it, and b) our form nosedived with three straight defeats.

Contract runs out soon so I may leave the club. I just wanted to ensure they didn't go back down.

[apologies, long post]

Ooohhhh Wrexham. How vewy vewy difficult, with their fully professional status and considerable wage budget.

Bullcrap, you quit that game right now and get a new job in the regional Vanaramas like the rest of us.

What tactics are you using? Downloaded? I fucking knew it.

Ha! It isn't my fault the likes of Shitehawk turned me down, their loss! I'll see how this season pans out with Torquay, I don't know if I'll be able to get a job back in the FL yet so I might end up at your level anyway ;)

Tactics wise.. 4-2-3-1 worked a dream at Wrexham. Moult as a DLF and Durrell as a SS behind him was superb. However with Torquay I've brought in two strikers who got around 20 goals each last season, so I'm hoping they form a solid partnership up top this year.

:bye:

Started as Bradford City. Finished 3rd in my first season in charge, missing out on automatic promotion by a single point. Halfway through my second season and I've found my side languishing in 16th! Just been sacked unfortunately.

Been offered the Stevenage Job. Yay

How does a DLF and SS work together? Seems like they'd get under each other's feet.

I'm playing with a poacher and a target man atm. Maybe I should branch out.

I don't really know to be totally honest, but it did. Really, really well. Moult hit around 60 goals in the first 18 months, Durrell hit about 35/40, assisting another 30 odd.

Bradford PA, any recognisable players?

I've never heard of a single one of my players. Even now, when I've been in the job a full month.

Don't think you can avoid them as such, but just don't answer them. It's not a 'Must Respond' item so they automatically get dismissed when you continue the game.

Just to fuck things up a bit. Create a few newgens, send clubs up and down, have some managers sacked, some hired. I dunno why, something to do with making it a bit less of this world, but still 'possible'.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i won qualification to the champions league with Atlantis Klaipeda from Lithuania with spending only 29k p/w in salaries. my victims were Differdange (5:0,6:0) Litex (1:1,2:1) and Genk (4:1, 1:3).

but went out as bottom last with 3 points and a goal difference of 3:21. including an 1:9 defeat in London vs Arsenal.

Beat Cambridge 2-0 to lift us five points away from the relegation zone. That's 4 (four. FOUR) games unbeaten.

I am a football manager.

Don't go getting ideas above your station now mate.

I'm half tempted to explore the foreign lower leagues for a change. Though it could be a complete and utter disaster..

Not absolutely certain it will be a long term thing, but I will have a season or two and see if it takes off whilst I repost the old stuff that was lost on TFF.

I'm nearing the end of the season. Semi-final of the Champions League against Barcelona and 4 points off the top of the league with two games in hand.

By a weird stroke of luck, something like 7 of my final 10 league games are home fixtures. 6 games to go. It's going to be tense.

Considering starting a game with Leicester tomorrow, I wanted one of the predicted bottom 3 in the Prem and to try and turn them into Kings of Europe. With Leicester being East Midlands they take my fancy!

I think North End are massively over-rated on this new one.

I won League One by playing the most gung-ho football you will ever see, with scorelines such as winning 8-3 at Barnsley and a couple of 4-4 draws. Then with a couple of additions to my defence and retaining a few loanees, I finished 2nd in the Championship the following season, using similar, although slightly toned down tactics.

Joe Garner bagged 60+ in those two seasons and the likes of Gallagher, Brownhill, Humphrey and Luke Williams (signed from Middlesbrough) chipped in plenty.

Currently 7 games into my third season and have recorded wins against West Ham, Hull and Aston Villa, drew away at Man City and also drew at home to Bolton. Only losing to Newcastle and Burnley so far. Still in the League Cup too.

Current team:

Remy Riou (Nantes)
Loris Nery (Valenciennes), Tom Clarke, Bailey Wright, Luke Garbutt (Everton)
Callum McManaman (Wigan), Lucas Deaux (Nantes), Alan Browne, Bashkim Kadrii (FC Kobenhavn)
Josh Brownhill
Joe Garner
Rest of the squad

Jonathan Bond (Watford),
Shane O,Neill (Colorado), Andrew Robertson (Hull, loan), Mark O'Brien (Derby)
Chris Humphrey, Adnan Gurdiel (Ponferradina), Paul Gallagher, Luke Williams (Middlesbrough)
Junior Tallo (Roma), Libor Kozak (Aston Villa, loan)

Josh Brownhill has the potential to be one of the best midfielders on the game and Riou is quality for anyone who is after a cheap keeper.

Classic.

Mine was a bit of a bizarre one - I asked for a new deal having previously rejected an offer from Torquay, wanted an increased wage budget as they had reduced it and wanted me to win the title (!)…they rejected, I leaked to press, emergency board meeting, then BAM, the sack. Only four days before I was due to leave anyway so it doesn't really count.

Taken on a short-term role at Cheltenham, 21st in the Conference.
