Speaks volumes about what's expected of us that when Scott Wharton slotted in vs Rushall in the 92nd minute, the commentary bar said "Skelmersdale may be about to break their terrible run!"

The goal put us 6-1 up.

Btw, barring a miracle, we're pretty much down. 32 games in, adrift by 8 points. It's possible, I suppose. But it's going to take a helluva run.

Still learning the ropes. I barely played FM14 so this is a transitional period for me. Next year will be my year.

My record on FM 2010 speaks for itself.

Just finished the second season of my Reading career. 11th in the Prem though was a lot closer to relegation than that seems. 10 points behind 10th place and I only guaranteed survival with two games to go. Defence all season was very bad, worst in the league but I scored a lot of goals.

£17m to spend in the Summer, aim is for two centrebacks, a left winger and a right back. So far i've signed Balanta from River and missed out on getting Thorgan Hazard on a free.

Reckon if I bring in those four positions above and get lucky with injuries I can push for the final Europa League places next season.

Balanta will grow into a good player. Rodrigo Gomez was a RW I signed for around £4m if you need one. He is quality.

Wish I had read the thread before now, to see if Gomez was available/any good, but i've done my transfer business now.
Alvarez Balanta £8.5m, Kamil Glik £4m, Martin Linnes £3m and Adam Lallana £7m.

So major restructuring of the defence and a little bit of quality up top, hopefully enough to get Reading into the Europa League. I'll need to soon as I blew apart my wage structure to get this squad ready.

So after the Skelmersdale Tragedy*, I am lucky enough to be in employment again, this time at Brackley in the Vanarama South (only after some very tough questions about my relegation record from the chairman, I hasten to add).

It's going well this time! We're playing nice football and are eighth after 15 games. Have built a well balanced young squad with a bit of experience. It won't go wrong this time. It won't. It can't.

*no disrespect to actual tragedies, but this was worse

I'm signing a 17 year old for £42.5m in January...

DM/CM and his attributes for that position are already at 18/19/20 and there's no way I'd be able to get hold of him once he got snapped up by another Club. With the right training, I think he's going to be a once in a game type regen who turns out incredible beyond belief.

Not sure whether I'll put him at DM or the defensive role of CM yet. Not only is he good defensively, but his finishing, flair etc are also around the 18 mark as well so he could play anywhere in midfield really.

Personally I would have him in central midfield where he can do more. Plus for some reason the game seems to create hundreds of good defensive midfielders and right backs compared to other positions, so finding a good DM shouldn't be as hard, and then you can get your star guy running the midfield.

Yeah, opted to put him in there.

Signed a DM a couple of years ago who's improving quite well and doesn't have the attributes to play CM as this guy does.

4th after 20 games, haven't lost in 12 (of which we've won ten).

Wow, up there with the very best regens i've seen. No surprise he's already been capped aged 18. Which club did he come through at?

Shame he isn't taller as otherwise he would be the perfect Ball playing Centreback, almost all the technicals, physicals not far off and mentals almost there too. But then when a player is that good he could almost play anywhere..

From Lyon.

Played him in CM in an attacking role and he has 5 in 16, so done ok, although a handful of those 16 I dropped him back to DM due to an injury.

Relegated from Liga BBVA. Tough luck but to be fair we didn't prepare properly. Struggling in Liga Adelante right now.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get promoted then go to Europe in the first year? I've seen people do it before, I'm not good enough to figure it out on my own.

Another question. How much of youth development is affected by training facilities?

I don't think there's a particular thing that works. I've always found my best seasons have come about as a result of few changes in the squad. Maybe two or three coming in/going out.

Not sure it'll be an awful lot because there are two separate youth parts - youth recruitment and youth facilities. I imagine training facilities are purely the first team.

If a player is really good, I usually play them in my first team for experience which is why I ask how much would it affect youth development.

2-2 at home to Maidstone, third to last game of the season. A win will put us within two points of the league leaders. We punt the ball forward, their goalie comes out and makes a complete hash of it, leaving my top scorer Ethan Wassall with all the time in the world to put the ball in the empty net.

Wide.

Maidstone get a winner. FML.

Ended up shitting our pants in the play-off final against Woking. Still, a far better first season with Brackley than I was expecting... hopefully we can go for the title next time.

Done with Sestao River after we got relegated from BBVA for a second time and simply didn't have the team to get promoted again. I went til 2030, and Dover ended up in the Premier League hahaha.

I started with Fleetwood Town. Got Adam Campbell, George Green, Hector Bellerin, Loftus-Cheek, and Chuba Akpom all on loan. I got rid of all the conference/league 2 players. I plan to get promoted in my first season here. Not the greatest squad in the world, but I expect to do it through playoffs. I'll post my full season once I'm done.

2014-15
Sky Bet League 1: Obviously the main focus for me. I got a few players on loan as I mentioned in my previous post. The 2 standout players of the season were George Green and Chuba Akpom. Shoutout to Green for developing incredibly well and in one season went from being a 3rd division player to a Premier League relegation battling player. Chuba Akpom developed well also, but I need to credit him for all the goals he provided us here. Loftus-Cheek. I signed Maik Taylor in my first season, good goalkeeper but he's old as hell. It was a big risk signing him, but it worked out in the end. Anyways, I finished 10th. We had a rather weird form throughout parts of the season. We went on a few losing streaks and winning streaks, and we we're actually close to making the playoffs, but we threw it all away at the end. A 1-0 away loss to relegation battling Donny gave ended the dream. We did what was expected, maybe overachieved a little bit, but it wasn't anything amazing.

Johnstone's Paint Trophy: I actually cared about this cup more than the FA Cup and League Cup. That's because this cup was winnable, and while I find it pointless, its nice to win this trophy while we still can. Got knocked out first round by Preston North End away. Nothing I could do there really. They ended up getting promoted

Capital One Cup: Didn't think I could win this. Got knocked out by Wigan in the round we entered.

FA Cup: Same as above except we made it farther here and got knocked out eventually by Manchester United.

Asshole... From the Conference Premier anyway, your achievement is null. Not a fair test.

3rd after 10 games in the new season. I've signed a couple of really good players but had to trim the squad down to the bare bones to afford them, and all my attacking ones seem to be getting injured. D'oh.

Awful start to my third season at Reading, considering I want to be challenging for Europa League places this year.

Five games gone, ten goals conceded (with what is supposed to be a much better defense than last year), two points and 18th in the league. Obita out for 6 weeks, Lallana out for 3, and my captain Karacan with a broken leg so out for at least 6 months. The only positives are that I beat Fleetwood 4-2 in the League Cup and a Belarusian regen I brought in is fairly decent and might get some game time this season.
