Yeah, my dad was well into it too, he's 50 now, says Plymouth was the most evil place he went to.

He definitely doesn't like Bolton.

Same as you PrestonCha sat in the pub from the age of about 5/6 on matchdays and heard all sorts of stories. My Dad and his mates still go away fairly often but they’ve obviously grown up, notable encounters were of course Rovers, Millwall, Cardiff but apparently Pompey was one of the best ones.

My mate ended up with about 30/40 stitches in his head at Plymouth years ago. We'd gone down for the weekend and it had kicked off a bit on the friday night with this group of lads. Saturday night comes, we walk out of this bar and there's about 20/25 lads stood waiting for us and he ends up with a bottle of Becks stuck out of his forehead.

Hope you chucked a can of Special Brew back at them.

Agree on the Plymouth front - they had a lot of game lads. Never really brought that many to Reading, but whenever we went down there they were everywhere.

I've always turned my nose up at people who get involved in football violence to be honest, but then I always enjoyed hearing my dad's stories from the 70s and 80s. He was proper into it back then, and it kicked off big time at places you might not expect like Reading, Plymouth, Newport and even Corinthian Casuals.

Wolves fans turning up outside The Masonic in 2016(?) when you were down here... now that was interesting.

Didn't go but I remember it happening. Our lot are always the same, mainly a bunch of kids who've had one too many shandies giving it the big un in cities like Bristol... really isn't the smartest idea.

I went to Brighton away last month and the same fucking kids trashed the away bar, ever since they haven't been selling alcohol to away fans.

The Subway Army who ambushed us back in 2001 for the play-off semi weren't kids, put it that way. Didn't see head nor tail of them for the return leg back at the Madejski, loads of Reading and Chelsea out for them that evening.

On another note, I saw with interest on another page regarding stoke and the N40, whilst stoke (old ground) was always a bit of a tasty event, a div 3 match in 1991 at their place is especially memorable, they weren't ready for what they came across that day.
Yeah okay mate :fl:

Hear a lot of people on about wolves being rough. We’ve never had much bother there, and our fans never see it as a dodgy away day. Blues on the other hand...

Word going round on social media (so it’s probably bollocks) that Wigan fans have given Stoke the runaround in a service station at M6. Stoke fans apparently caught smashing toilets again.

Not sure how reliable, but I heard blues took the piss up at stoke earlier in season. Hope blues kicked the fuck out of ‘em.

Probably not, any trouble nowadays gets full blown media coverage.

Does it? I'd say that 80% of trouble goes under the radar as it doesn't happen in broad daylight. Certainly used to in my day.

A few villa are serving jail sentences for turning up at a Cardiff pub post match the start of last season. A few punches and kicks and it’s jail and banned for 5 years. Not worth it.

In your day people probably didn’t have phones.... everything is on camera nowadays, if there’s any trouble it’s always captured or witnessed by someone who tells the world. The Wigan Stoke stuff last night was in the MEN 20 mins after the Wigan fan posted it in here, the trouble in Bedminster with our lot and Millwall the other week was plastered all over the BP, the stuff on park street with Rovers in the summer was the same.

If there are privately arranged meet ups you may get away with it, but there was one the other month between supposedly Brentford and Millwall from memory and there was even some c*** filming that.

Any evidence it actually happened?
