In the nicest way, you knew we would be alright today, when the only change Port Vale.can make is to bring on Ryan Loft and Dr Pepper...

You compare that to who Charlton were able to bring on and its chalk and cheese.

Sounded very decent by Carlisle today, but it did first half vs Cambridge last week.

Problem is confidence is very fragile so while ahead or level I find we don’t play bad but if we go behind the heads drop.

Makes a chance to score first they need to keep heads up and keep it gojng end of day regardless of the points the key is getting some team unity and confidence going
We are known for giving 3 points to struggling sides, we nearly always go 1-0 down too. To see that we won 2-1 I can't help but feel you must really be doomed

That’s the injuries unfortunately. Dipepa is a youth players who’s nowhere near ready but without Uche we are having to manage minutes with the only two strikers we have who are senior players.

It’s ok though as we did nearly get Smith from Sheffield Wednesday so we tried…and relegation isn’t a word we use so it will all be ok…

2-0 away win at Burton, routine easy win. Could get used to it.

Lincoln were the absolute ideal team to play today. They played in a half hearted manner, had a couple of half decent players but literally any other team fighting tooth and nail against relegation would have put them to the sword today. They won't have an easier win put on a plate for them all season.

I get so annoyed weekly with how shit we are/have been.

In a league where Portsmouth, Derby and Bolton are the best it can offer and yet we’re still 5th from bottom, just shows you how terrible we have been this season.

Our 2019 play-off winning team would have this league wrapped up by now. Infuriating.

That’s not a dig at those 3 really, but I’ve seen all 3 in the last few weeks and they’re not great, you don’t have to be, you just need to be better than 21 other teams and they obviously have been.

Think you're doing a little disservice to us there. An 'ideal team', who have only conceded 2 goals in the past 7 (with one being a horrendous mistake) and now unbeaten in 8. We're a hard team to break down, work hard for each other and frustrate other teams. Long may it continue.

If you can start with that second half side you will pick up many more points. Great tactics to make a triple sub at half time.
It's an interesting one, I honestly can't ever remember us making 4 subs at half time. Clearly it worked but why is it for so many of our teams we can have a miserable first half and then be almost unrecognisable in the second. There is a really good feel about Charlie Adam, I didn't think Scott Brown should have been sacked so early. Lee Johnson, well the least said the better. I am looking forward to next season under Adams's stewardship. As for yourselves I have said on here in the past you are a good club and even better a supporter owned club which is a blue print we should all try to follow. Best of luck going forward

I'm not putting you down. You are what you are...a pretty average team that is well drilled and hard to break down. But I don't think you broke sweat today, everything was played at half pace and second half you gave the ball away time after time. As I said, the absolute perfect team to play. Cheltenham or Shrewsbury would have beat you today. It says everything about us.

One demon off our back with our first clean sheet since September now just to get that first win since November.
I thought we were excellent today and fully deserved something from the game. Every game under Jones seems an improvement, I just hope he can keep it going and we get a few wins under our belt.
It’s the loudest and most pumped up the home crowd has been in a long time and the players responded with fight. Just a shame they hadn’t showed that all season as we’d be well clear of the drop zone
You defo fought for the ball every time. 100%. I'm happy with the point. As they say if u can't win don't lose

Think it’s a bit harsh. They were poor up front. Similar to us, they’ve not scored many more than us over the season but the massive difference between us and them is their solidity.

They had a Westley/Ainsworth style in their time wasting, feigning and cynical side and if you concede 0 you have a chance.

Our issue is we have a defensive calamity in us game after game. We should have got a 0-0, they created nothing, we didn’t create much either, Wilson’s touch to take their midfielder out the game and strike would of been stunning and we missed the sitter right in front of the keeper second half but little else.

Lincoln don’t have the quality up front but unlike us they’ve made themselves hard to beat and that’s why they are comfortable and we are heading down with a wimper.

Their number 2 was decent… shame on the widest pitch you could play half a season on we decided not to sign hardly any full or wing backs!

I thought you gave 100% today. We could have nicked it at the end. I think you'll survive no worries. You are the best team we've played out of the bottom lot. I reckon PV will go down and if we don't get promoted I'd rather you stayed up and PV went down. It's a great day out at Charlton.

Vale fans… honestly if you went in the posh seats you wouldn’t believe your ears..
Carol has just been up, in tears, telling us we will be alright because we’ve got Darren Moore, and little old Port Vale should not have him.
And his wife said we’ll be alright.
So stop worrying!
Crickey… just seen in on twitter! Someone who cares deeply but has made a right mess the last 14 months.

Ex-Stoke.

Considering our outs, done well to grind out and get 3 points.

I agree, I got in the ground and said to my old man that I’ll miss Pompey if/when they go up.

The 180 mins we play against each other I forget we’re in league one. Proper contests, proper crowds, two decent clubs.

If I had the choice. I'd rather you went down and Charlton stay up. Its a great day out at Charlton where the same can't be said about PV. To far up North

It does sound a little bit disingenuous but what I'm trying to get at is that we should have been trying to emulate Lincoln this season. Average. And I don't mean that disparigingly. I mean being tight at the back with the odd win here and there.

That's why I say they were the perfect opposition today. They offer little threat up front (probably less than some of the teams around us) , they clearly weren't scrapping for their lives, they played at a half pace. Any team absolutely busting a gut would have given them a right old game today but we didn't, that's where the problem lies.

A deserved win against an Oxford who I thought coasted through the game up until they fell behind in the last ten minutes when they bombarded us and we struggled a bit to hold on as we're a young team and low on bodies.

Good to see George Moncur finally stepping up and delivering in recent weeks, he's not performed as well as he could and his fitness seems alot better now.

If Oxford reach the playoffs I can't see them doing much in them based on their performance today, scored a well worked goal but really seemed to coast through most of the game.

Horrible typical match against a Nathan Jones side. Charlton constantly tried to slow the game down. Admittedly Pompey didn't create to much, but with abit more quality/luck could have got all 3, however 0-0 was a good reflection of the game. Results went for us so we're in a better position at ft.

Yeah I'd say that game deserved a 0-0 result after a frantic start dissolved into a pretty turgid affair. Frustrating as I know we're capable of far better than that but just didn't really show up today. Still, could turn out to be a decent point with Bolton and Derby both losing.

Santos off again for a clumsy challenge? This surely can't be a coincidence. How many times does he have to make these basic errors for people to realise he's actually not that good? As I've said before, people think he's good because he's big and has got a presence. Turning circle of a tanker. Why has no-one taken a chance on him from higher up?

I've seen some Bolton fans claim he's Championship standard. 29 this year and never played above L1, plenty of games in L2 and the NL too. I'd probably go out on a limb and say he isn't Championship standard...

He was laughably bad when we were down here and he was playing for Peterborough. All be it, he was young then.

I've said it a million times but I always get back 'but he was in team of the season '. I always said it was because he's a big lad, so is noticed above everyone.

There's a reason he's never played above league one. He's played against Vale maybe 6 times now, I think I've seen 5 of those....in one he got absolutely pummelled by our sub standard forward line in league 2 and got sent off last season by being turned by a player that isn't even quick. It can't be a coincidence that in 5 games he has been awful.

I've genuinely never seen such delusion over a player. They've been better without him in the team.

Carlisle are completely and utterly devoid of any attack based confidence this season through either mass injury problems or a lack of creativity or quality in them areas.

The game you could argue was decided when we could have gone 2-0 up then minutes later it’s suddenly 1-1 out of the blue.

You did give the bottom side it’s opportunity, just our lot had zero self belief to take it…….they just need to grab alot of early goals start of next season to boost confidence
