Nice knowing you all, but our time is done now. That Lenny crossbar miss along with the scandalous decisions vs FGR and Carlisle have sent us down. Well, those and months of absolute shite.

Has everyone's pitch been struggling. We haven't all furloughed our groundstaff but it's not been the best of winters. Ours today was looking as bad as I've seen it, I think since I started going to games.
Ours was struggling a month or ago, but is now alot better as we've had less rain.

Paul Hurst has said today’s draw could be a very big point come the end of the season and he’s right, we might only finish bottom by 9 points now instead of 10.

We were garbage, but we’ve been poor for the majority of the last 5 games 2 of which were wins. As others have said without Cooke we look useless, poor that we are so reliant on one player and he isn’t even a goal scorer.

Can’t stand this league but another season minimum it is...

Ours is the worst I've seen it in years - the chairman said we're relaying it in the summer because we were meant to do it last year, but covid-related uncertainty meant it wasn't feasible. Maybe a few clubs decided against some costly works.

Or maybe most clubs have an ex-staff member with a grievance, putting bricks in the drainage system, a la Fylde...

Our commentators were making the point over and over about Bradford being too big for this level.

What are the Bradford fans' thoughts about where you belong. Not down here I'm sure but James Phillips saw you as a premier league / championship promotion challenging team. I think you're a funny one, you have all the clothing of a team that should be in the top flight, Big city, big fanbase, big stadium etc, but only ever hint at growing into that clothing.

Aye Bowers is like that. It’s usually either WWE references (I think he name dropped Hulk Hogan at one point come to think of it) or going on about his half time cup of tea. Not so bad when it’s streamed but if it was just radio it would drive me up the wall.

Chris Birchall on the other hand just seemed really negative from the start. Was the same against Cambridge where it almost felt he wanted the team to slip up to vindicate him.
I listened to your commentary and it was a bit strange how negative they seemed to want to be about you.

Bolton had passed it round without any real threat and you'd had a couple of half chances. All they could go on about was how Bolton were in control and that we would turn it on.

Seemed to love it when we had a spell of pressure.

It kinda of just felt a 1-0 loss game like Cambridge, Salford games, opposition fairly poor on the day, us generally solid but not doing near enough up front.

Theo was fucking dire again. Cullen should of come on instead.

Oh and Newport have picked up again considering we were to play them originally when they were getting slapped week in week out.

Looks like Colchester or bust next weekend.

Hope Monty is fit as all our LB options are out now.
Theo Robinson is fucking dreadful. It's like playing with 10 men with him on the pitch.

Clarke needs to get some goals. going for 1-0 wins is not working, maybe we should forget trying to keep clean sheets and actually have a go at winning a game.

that being said, just nothing falls for us at all. conlon had a very similar chance to their lad but unfortunately we didn't slice the ball into the far corner of the goal.

haha.....slice
Think he placed it to be fair

Just watched the goal on Goalcam........Your keeper shouting for offside at the linesman despite his vision being impaired by your defender standing directly in front of him was quite amusing

Would of been offside had Hurst not played him on. He should of had your man. He shinned that.

I think in fairness they are just pissed off like the fans are with how things are going. Birchall was like it against Cambridge and they were pretty garbage on the day.

I think with Birchy he just seems to have been on a real downer about the club last couple of times he has been commentating. Don’t get me wrong we’re obviously in a sticky situation but our performance in those two games didn’t warrant his constant criticism in my opinion. Someone needs just cheer him and up and mention to him about when he played in the World Cup or played in the same team as Beckham.

Only other thing is if we had gone hell for leather and conceded four the same people would be slating the defence.

would have been offside but your player played him on.....ffs that is desperate
Look at the goal again....why have you a player stood in front of the keeper.......And please dont call the Bolton goal because he did not hit it sweetly
WE played 25 passes which resulted in the goal..........You would say it was lucky....I would say its in the top 3 goals scored at your ground all season

I won't be in the top 3 goals at vale Park this season as Cambridge o Neil then there was a tranmere guy and eisa at scunthorpe all scored 25 yard worldies.

It was a well worked opportunity, but I think if you offered him the shot again, without knowing the outcome, he'd have another go.

You do see a lot of "hit it too well" shots, where, like this one, worse contact can work out better.

It’s not desperate at all, I’m saying Hurst played him on so it wasn’t offside!

He shinned the goal, hits it sweetly it doesn’t go in. Conlon does the same it’s a goal first half but he hits it too cleanly.

Nowhere near top 3, Eisa, O’Neill, Montano and the Tranmere lad scored absolute worldies for a start, not to mention the Rodney rifles against Southend, Colchester and Monty volley v Salford.

Was a decent move the only one all game though but we should really have defended it better.

yes it was a game devoid of quality we have played better and lost
You need to get that pitch sorted and next season you wont be far off.......that pitch is costing you injuries

We were going to do work on the pitch in May last year but it got cancelled due to covid and we thought when the season got suspended in March that we would be starting up again about 6 weeks later around May to finish last season off which obviously never happened. You got to also remember that this is league 2 and Bolton arnt in the Premier league anymore playing on bowling greens at old Trafford and the Emirates they are playing vale Newport Crawley ect.

It's not as though prem teams are exempt too. Leeds have had an awful pitch all season after they had plans to re-lay theirs in summer.

Even paid like £500k for spurs turf and that has just had players slipping all over since.

To be fair VP usually isn’t that bad. Don’t recall any issues last season for example but apparently the training pitch behind the ground is the main problem at the moment so looking to move away

look i am not really bothered about your pitch in all honesty, same with Mansfield, but you have suffered with countless injuries, niggles this season....Maybe its false economy
Read somewhere you are going to spend 1/2 million on your ground.....dont really need it Vale park is a tidy ground.

I don't think it's that bad. I think this season is the fourth time the U's have been to Vale Park and I never said to myself that pitch is awful or anything of the sort. I know it's not in great nick at present but same goes for all grounds due to the whole covid business. I've watched all our away games this season and believe me when I say quite a few of them are/were in a far poorer state than yours.

Exactly, it’s always been also difficult to play on because it is so massive as well. Although the lines are in this season which was a strange decision by Askey when we did so well at home last season!

It’s had a lot done to it but still need to finish the interior of the Lorne Street stand and replacing the worn out coloured seats was a good idea (think they have been sponsored possibly by Autonet with the work on the roofs and signage)

Main issue with the pitch is it’s clay based I believe (the ground is above mines hence the 24 year time frame to finish the stand because the costs rocketed sorting out the foundations from that).

But this means drainage can be an issue so ideally would have a new one with better drainage long term but as I say they’ve looked at it in recent weeks since Clarke and Flitcroft have come in and the big issue with injuries is the training pitches which are located opposite the away end so are looking to train elsewhere next season and build a new training ground away from VP.

Our pitch was ok until we played Cambridge on a snowy surface, and that game has destroyed it ever since.
