Congrats on the moral victory, we’re winning 3-0 currently

Feel bad for criticising Paul Cook’s Derbyshire retirement home when our best player is 37 year old David McGoldrick, I see the vision, forgive me

Thank you.

When you’ve taken a total of 4 points from your last 7 league games, you’ve got to take something. We’re in relegation form. Carlisle watch out Carver we are coming for you.

Well, 4-2 now. 4-3 on aggregate. Scrap the above. We win.

Kane Thompson-Sommers with the goal.
FT. We lost the game but we won the war to lose not as badly vs Walsall as Notts County did over the two league games.

4 points from 21 games. Lindsey to get sacked by dodgy Kuwaiti owners? I think not but you never know.

Early days and shit opposition, but really enjoyed this first look at post-Crowley Notts. Much quicker moving the ball and an actual threat on transition without an obvious weakness in our press. McGoldrick has been fantastic again.

Yet again a ref has a direct impact on the result for us, fucking diabolical all game.

Good game between two good sides that we could, and should, have won.

Why MK continued to faff around with the ball at the back whilst being 3-1 down then get caught to make it 4-1 and game over I don't know.
Yet to be convinced this style will ever work at this level decent win again though today.
What a shift 37 year old Uncle Albert put in today as well.

I think we can all agree that the funniest conclusion for all parties is you appointing Stuart Maynard as your next manager

Subs made the difference and our first home win in donkeys. Excellent finish from Jaheim Headley for the winner and Stockley added a bit more power up top.

That’s our first league double since Hartlepool a couple of years ago which shows how shit we’ve been for a long time.

Draw your own conclusions as to what works at this level.

It works in L1 (or at least it did for us most seasons there) but agree down here we’re shite at it and it just doesn’t.

Devestating second half performance and the changes spot on, Harper allowed us to dominate the middle, Stockley didn’t let them off like Hackford did and Sang stopped the threat. Switching Mitch onto their number 7 was smart to as that ended his threat.

Their number 7 decided to make a gun gesture to the Vale fans when he scored, no idea why as at that point no stick had been given so Vale fans enjoyed it and he got some fair stick when Harper did a pirouette and he ended up on his backside at the end.

Should have had 6 or 7 had Hackford been able to finish but for a mess of a defence first half it would have been much more comfortable.

Headley looks excellent, powerful and pacey and Mitch Clarke being back from his neck break has been like a new signing. If there’s a better right back/wing back that him at this level I’d be surprised. He oozed quality today again.

Moore got away with it but the right outcome for the dominance .

That thing everyone was saying about us trying to replicate Crawley of last season and how they had just captured lightning in a bottle?

Well, I’m starting to think all we have captured this season is dogshit in a petri dish. Needless to say, the experiments are making everyone sick.

We had him on trial a few years ago if I remember correctly which makes it even funnier when he loses and we call him "number 7" when chanting the piss takes at him.

Their manager would have reffed the game fairer than the ref did.

Darren moores starting 11 was appalling, saved by his subs.

George Abbott's goal against Cheltenham was a real stunner. For me he bettered it today with a powerful controlled volley direct from a corner to give us the lead.

Straight off the training ground. Thanks Stuart, not bad for part time.

Scrappy 1-0 win for the Alex at Morecambe. Controlled the first half but created little, Morecambe had the better chances.

We weren't as in control 2nd half, but probably had a few more chances as Morecambe opened up. Well worked goal and well taken by Long. Dug in at the end and ground it out. Not a pretty performance, but a wins a win at this stage of the season.

Big concern was Jack Lankester going off after barely being able to put any weight on his right ankle. If that's a serious one, we need a creative attacker before the window closes in the worst way. Because what we've got now are goalscorers or inconsistent creators.

Crawley lost 18 games last season so I’d say you’re well on track actually

As this was the first home game of 2025, like most clubs these days, Grimsby had a memorium for former fans and players who had passed away during 2024. A piper led the tribute from the centre circle as photos and names of those no longer with us appeared on the scoreboard. The crowd stood quietly and applauded as a show of respect.

Unfortunately virtually the entire away end sang abusive songs throughout. It wasn’t a handful of kids, it was clearly the vast majority. What an awful reflection on Chesterfield FC and the town in general. Absolutely vile.

I will comment separately on the game

We did something similar post Christmas. I can't remember whether it was against Swindon or Gillingham but they behaved impeccably.

Tough one to take but I thought we did enough for a point. Once again though, we're toothless in front of goal, with Callum Jones missing 3 big chances in the first half and then Yann Songo being our main threat in the 2nd. Says it all really, very frustrating.

Crewe looked a decent side and moved the ball around well but we matched them across the park. I stand by it, if we get someone in who knows how to shoot let alone score, we've got a chance.

Good performance from the one man team today.

MK lots of really good individuals but they didn't seem to have my chemistry. Second half was just one way traffic and it could have been five or six with a bit more composure.

Big marker down to show it was the team helping Lowe to shine, and not Lowe dragging us to his level. Any half decent striker we get in will score goals in this team.

Not a great game and the only piece of quality was the goal but it’s 3 points from a fixture that usually yields none
