Our turn to be linked with a Chinese takeover. Very early days but a well respected/connected fan called Steve Tappin is attempting to front a consortium. Obviously way too early to get excited but a respectable fan backed with foreign money could be just what we need (so we'll be stuck with Cellino for another 5 years...).

In the days of modern footballers turning up to training in £100k cars we have our star man cycling to work.

Good job he deleted his Twitter on Saturday night for the stick he was getting for the OG, would've been 10x worse tonight.

There will be a moments applause in the 23rd minute when we play Villa in memory of one of their fans who lost his fight with cancer recently

A mirror journalist on Twitter who knows Cellino well (according to Phil Hay) says that Monk is very close to the sack

Same journalist says Owen Coyle's close to going as well. I bet Coyle won't be the last Championship manager this season to be sacked following a loss against Burton. We used to have the same effect on managers in the Premier League. Lose to Wigan and you got the sack, Paul Ince, Avram Grant, Steve Bruce et all will testify to that!

Well takeover rumours are in overdrive at the moment so it might be someone else's call soon enough (fingers fucking crossed) but nothing's certain with Cellino until the ink dries.

Sorry if this has already been said but, what channel is showing highlights this year? Is it still channel 5?

Yes, still shit as ever with pundits such as Chris Iwelumo and Michael Gray giving their expert opinion.

Good news is I think they scrapped the health lottery half way through

So just a quick question, who remembers when you could pass the ball back to the keepers and he could pick it? That was the game in my formative years and Liverpool mastered stifling the life out of the game by using the tactic.

I'd have to agree mate....I still watch re-runs from those days and fuck it looks strange! As you say...the Scousers were masters and it slowed the game enormously...Glad it's no more tbh

Slightly related. Is there a rule that prevents the goalkeeper throwing the ball to a team mate who heads back to him?
That could be abused in the same way, though would be more risky to do than the pass back.

If they already have the ball in their hands to throw it, why would the defender need to head it back to the keeper for them to hold on?

Unless you're talking about continuously doing it, it would probably be too difficult to achieve multiple times. Relying on the goalkeeper throwing accurately and defender heading back accurately every time. The opposing team could easily negate this by putting players around the defender..

If any confirmation was needed, that we all get bored on International weekends. This is it. :-)

Bloody hate international week...

Domestic football over England every time for me.
Absolutely. Couldn't feel any more apathetic towards the national side, find it quite comical when they lose. Rarely watch them unless it's a tournament either. Roll on next Saturday...
