Had a power nap and woke up just in time for the third declaration.

The exit poll is mental. Desperately hoping there has been a mistake. But can't see it being that far out. Terrible result for Labour and catastrophic for LDs.

I can only assume the LD heavyweights will buck the trend due to public popularity. 10 just seems too low.

I'll be disappointed if Farage loses out to that ex Kipper. At least people like him, Salmond and Galloway would make for a more interesting Parliament.

Yes, I really can't get my head around the projected LD figure. 10 is ludicrously low. Just cannot see that. Everyone knows they'll tank in a lot of places but the incumbency factor and good local activism should surely see them home in a good 20+?!

Who would be up for leading the Ukips if Farage failed to win his seat? Haven't seen anyone close to matching his er, charisma.

Hate the ukips but Farage rallies their voters, one man party in many ways. I think if he quits after UKIP fail to win in his constituency the party itself will drop off and become an irrelevancy.

If Farage loses, he will quit as leader of UKIP, but the party will still be in a strong position.

Exactly what I'm hoping.

Second fiddle Paul Nuttall? Otherwise Carswell/Reckless as they're already known, or the obnoxious Louise Bours (changed her name from van de Bours for some reason totally unrelated to Euroscepticism).

But these people are even bigger jokers than Farage aren't they? At least Farage (strangely, shockingly even) has some level of credibility.

They could be on for being the third party based on popular vote it exit poll is right
But how much is the ukip vote a protest vote ? how much is due to the appeal of farage himself ? And from what I've seen so far in Sunderland there has been a big transference of vote from the Bnp who aren't fielding candidates against ukip . I'm not saying a similar party won't emerge but ukip might go the same way as the referendum party and Bnp .

Agreed thank god. The Ukips are a lucky dip of populist policies but thankfully they still need a demagogue to push them, rather than the shifty types who make up most of their activists.

Anyone reckon Sinn Fein might save the day and suddenly decide to take up their seats?
Wouldn't put anything past them. They've already done about 17 things they've previously said they'd never, ever do.

Of course, not looking like taking their seats would be of any use with this particular result.

Re UKIP - in terms of the popular vote it looks like they've done extremely well. Whether Farage wins or not, his isn't the end of the. Not for a wee while, anyway.

Looks as if Liberals voting Labour in Tory/Liberal marginals, plus SNP vote, might push it the Tories way. Which will be a shame because it allows the Tories in, still failing to properly win an election.

Dimbley is such an Etonian c***.

This Jeremy Vine bit is interesting. LDs looking to be squeezed to fuck from both sides.

Unfortunately it's the loss of liberal seats to the Tories which has cost Labour big time, coupled with the SNP rise they're going to be kicked into the long grass again.

LD vote collapse again. But Labour didn't take nearly enough of it to make it close.

*sigh*

Little shout out for Roehampton there though. Whoop.
