That outside of the boot assist by Reus for the 3rd was brilliant. It's so hard to label his playing style. He's brilliant at every aspect of attacking football.

"This ain't no Premier League, no to the English model"

They're right of course, but that's easy for them to say when the German model works so well in their favour...

said exactly the same on twitter when I saw it. They're such a shit c*** of a football club. They've ruined German Football Club out of pure greed.

A crunch game at the top, and probably game of the weekend is Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg.
Too right dude.

Great win for Eintracht Frankfurt.

It usually does between those two.

Can't wait to watch the highlights of all this!

That was indeed a great matchday. Well Bayern winning is boring as fuck so let's skip this part (check out Robben's first goal though, it's a worldie). Hamburg fans are starting to get accustomed to those kind of hidings. Bless.

First we have Wolfsburg winning 5-4 at Leverkusen. Now winning at Leverkusen is a great achievement but scoring 5 goals there is really sensational. They did make it hard for themselves though as they were 3-0 up at half-time. Leverkusen pulled 2 back before a Wolfsburg 4th but then Leverkusen levelled things at 4-4 before Bas Dost scored his 4th goal of the game. Looked like everything the guy did brought a goal. It was his day in other words. This was also Wolfsburg's 9th goal against Leverkusen this season as they won the corresponding fixture 4-1 at the Volkswagen.
Leverkusen aren't the only ones to have slipped up though. Schalke surprisingly lost at Frankfurt 0-1 (who are having a really good season by their modest standards and have Europe in their sights) and Augsburg lost at Bremen 2-3 who are completely transformed since the change of management. They too are closer to the Europa League than relegation (even though 8 pts is not that big a gap so late in the season).
The big winners for the CL hopefuls are Gladbach who beat neighbours Köln 1-0. I don't really know what hapened to make the Köln fans kick it off. Maybe they didn't like losing to them but I reckon they'd be use to it by now.

Which leaves with the juicy part: relegation. Dortmund overcame a 1-0 deficit at the break to win 4-2, Freburg won a vital game at Berlin, Stuttgart stayed rock bottom after a loss at Hoffenheim and finally Paderborn won their first game since early November (their second is also a very nice goal) at Hannover who may well be sucked in as they are only 4 pts from 16th. So half the league is under the threat of relegation which is just super great.

In the Buli Zwei, Ingolstadt lost their first home game of the season to Sandhausen (1-3) and see Kaiserslautern closing the gap at the top to 5 pts. Lautern are on a roll actually. After a disappointing first half of the season, they just won their 3rd game on the bounce without conceding any goal. Just behind them are Karlsruhe who are also doing well with 10 pts from 12. Darmstadt, Braunschweig and Düsseldorf are the other play-off hopefuls. It's gone off the boil for Leipzig though who experienced a 4th game without a win as they lost to FSV Frankfurt.

At the bottom, 1860 kept their good habit of not losing away from home with a 1-1 draw at Darmstadt. A relatively good result for a struggling side. Evern more impressive is Aue's win at Düsseldorf 3-2. This evening St Pauli play a massive game at home to Fürth. I'll give this a watch as 1860 are hosting St Pauli next. Another massive game for both sides. Would be fun if one of them went down I suppose. The 3rd tier is also fun (except for including the Buli Eins reserve teams).

Indeed, so many goals. Dost's goal for 3-0 (I think?) where he flicked it with the outside of his foot was exquisite. As was Reus' pass for Aubameyang.

Was a tad surprised to see Berlin lose that as that was a very big game. Another crunch game at the bottom next Friday as Dortmund go to Stuttgart. A win for BVB will see them safely in mid table ahead of the derby with Schalke, while defeat would chuck them right back into the mix. Got to fancy them though, seem to have their mojo back a bit now and Stuttgart are awful at home.

thats simply not possible that the away fans will be banned. that Dortmund will field a T-Rex vs Juventus is more likely

Laughable suggestion.

Gladbach security should take a long hard look at themselves for letting those fans entering the pitch. There's always going to be trouble in a derby anyway. If you think this is bad don't go to former East German territory. Dresden fans would have this Köln lot for breakfast.

Another weekend, another match day! I'll be surprised if it's as exciting as last weekend, but who knows! To kick things off there's another 6-pointer tonight with bottom side Stuttgart hosting Dortmund, looking for 3 wins in a row for the first time this season. I think they'll get it too - the confidence seems to be returning at Signul Iduna Park, while Stuttgart are awful on their own turf so far this campaign.

Onto tomorrow then, and my pick for game of the week sees Augsburg host Leverkusen in a 5th vs 6th clash. Leverkusen have lost two on the bounce, while Augsburg haven't won since beating Dortmund at the start of February. Both teams will be hoping for a win to push back towards the top 3, so it'll be an interesting affair (I don't expect a 9-goal thriller like last weeks game though!). It'll be an interesting game at Schalke too, as they host in-form Werder Bremen. Bremen have won five on the bounce now, and are the only side with a 100% record since the winter break ended. Schalke have lost two in a row, having lost on European duty to Madrid after last weekends loss at Frankfurt.

Freiburg host Hoffenheim, both looking to make it back to back wins after last weekends successes, while Bayern Munich travel to Paderborn, in what should be a straight forward away victory in my book. Mainz host Frankfurt, with the hosts right in the scrap at the bottom, especially if Dortmund take the points tonight and leapfrog them ahead of their kickoff. The final game tomorrow sees Koln host Hannover. Hannover have one point from 12 since the break, while Koln are struggling at home so a dull affair could be in order here. Koln's last three home matches have been goalless.

Reus makes it 3-1 to BVB in the last minute.

Stuttgart need to address home form sharpish otherwise it's all over for them?!

Actually finished 2-3.

Well it was always going to be difficult to follow from last week's entertainment but this weekend has actually been quite underwhelming (5 draws from 9 games).
Bayern did the business as usual after failing to win in Ukraine in midweek. Not much else to say, their 3rd is a pisstake though. Not even a foul and Bayern get a penalty. Robben is now leading top scorer with 16 goals
Bas Dost remains the striker in form at the moment. After scoring 4 goals at Leverkusen last weekend, he got a brace against Berlin yesterday. That means that he scored more than half of his total tally in those 2 games! Wolfsburg remain 8 points behind Bayern and now 10 pts clear of the rest of the pack.
The rest of the pack all drew. Schalke could do better than 1-1 against in-form Bremen, Augsburg needed their goalkeeper to equalise at 2-2 at home to Leverkusen and Gladbach equalised right at the death to earn a point at Hamburg (from a corner that shouldn't have been given).

At the bottom, Stuttgart recorded their 3rd straight defeat and have only managed 2 pts in their last 6 games. They lost at home to Dortmund (who have finally turned the corner) 2-3. Berlin lost again as well. Hopefully one of those two (or both of them) wake up and fight for their place otherwise the automatic relegation spots will be a foregone conclusion. The rest of the bottom half drew except Paderbon who lost heavily and Mainz who got an important win at home to Frankfurt 3-1.

It wasn't a great matchday at the top of the Buli Zwei either. The top two drew so Ingolstadt remain 6 points clear at the top but Kaiserslautern lost their first game in 5 at FSV Frankfurt 1-3. This result beneffited Darmstadt who won at Aue 1-0 and are now 3rd on goal difference. Then you have a 5-point gap between 4th and 5th but Eintracht Braunschweig can close this gap to 2 points if they beat Braunschweig this evening.

At the bottom, absolutely massive win for 1860 Munich at home to bottom of the pile St Pauli 2-1. Just the second home win for the other team of Munich and their first in 8 games. St Pauli stay bottom then while 1860 leapfrog Aalen and Aue. However, the rest of the league is more secure with Sandhausen (14th) being 4 points clear of 1860.

Yep. 8-0 and 6-0 back-to-back wins compared to Villa's 13 goals all season.

Scary fact that.

I have just written a blog on my latest trip to Germany, took in Eintracht v Wolfsburg and Koln v Stuttgart while I was over there. Incomplete, a bit TL;DR and some boring parts to skim over to get to the football but it's here if anyone fancies a gander. http://callumsdafctales.blogspot.co.uk/2015/02/european-midweeker-diary-february-2015.html

[/ShamelessPlug]

OK back on topic. It looks like *Stuttgart will be brown bread, who else do we fancy to join them in the bottom three? A lot of teams down there in real awful form at the moment; Hertha in freefall, Paderborn have faded big time after a flying start, Koln and Hamburg can barely muster up a goal between them. Personally though I've got a hunch that someone unexpected like Hanover will fall into it; they've only won once in their last 11 games and have to face Dortmund, Gladbach (away) and Munich in consecutive games soon. Ouch.

*What's happened there then this season? They still have a nucleus of some decent players in their squad there with Harnik, Ibizevic, Werner, Romeu, Gentner etc.

Stuttgart have been shit for some time tbh. Reckon a fight for survival is the quick up the arse the club needs. Still reckon they'll do just enough to get that play-off spot. Hertha and Paderborn to go down directly.
